I was very intrigued in the beginning when all this time (screen shots) I thought she was on some kind of ball and she was really on a planet/astroid of some sort. Hot. After about of minute of planet hopping I was like “COME ON!”

But it sped up and got interesting and in the end I like it and want to kook at it again right now. OK. I would like to state that I truly saw a different direction for this video (Almost like “Scream”) but I like this too. I think it makes the song more enjoyable because it had to grow on me anyway.

Artistically the video was brilliant! The song - not so great. Janet’s dance moves are very similar to some of her previous videos - so I was not impressed with the choreography as well. Anywho, this Janet video is good (not great). Whenever an artist thinks outside the box everybody isn’t going to like it. But she get kudos for taking a chance and doing something her peers wouldn’t even try. for all those won don’t like it, give it a chance. Visually it has a lot to offer.

When she gets them just right she thrusts the last one forward, releasing them in to the universe. Thousands of spheres that shoot out of the soup of life back into space.

She sees evil around her, decides to leave her planet behind to go and fight this evil and when she wins, she gets to create the Universe she wants to live in.

i think the video was ok. i’ve watched it a couple of times and really liked the dancing in the beginning rather than the end. i got a futuristic bob fosse vibe when she danced on the planets and feel like the dancing in the white fluid is similar to what we have seen from janet before.

That was very detailed and what a great concept.Some feel it was slow in the begining but if she was ass popping from planet to planet it would have definately taken away from the detail of things & it really would have not made sense! Definitely for the diehard Janet fans, not special enough to make a huge splash for non-devotees. The best part was the last half minute or so in the red — if they had built on that feel more the video could have been fiercer. The other dance moves were a bit stale and the rest of the video was mediocre.

Janet is a pop legend, and has long earned her right not to be compared to every young female artist with a nice body and a microphone.

Longevity is the most important element of artistry. Youth, glamour and “it girl” status is quite inconseuqential in the long run. When all of the endorsement deals, clothing and perfume lines succumb, all that will matter is if the industry still respects you and wants to hear your music.

Again, Janet is already an established legend-there will be movies made, and books written, about her life. She has accomplished so much, and her star identity is so cemented in the entertainment industry, that it does not even matter if her album does flop. This shit is just extra for her.

I understand that there are young posters on here who will continue to be irreverent and try to dismiss Janet as a has-been, but if it wasn’t for what Janet ‘has been’ none of these younger singers would ever ‘have been’.

I’m an avid Britney Spears fan (yeah, I said Britney!), but I still show love for those that came before her and made it possible for her to make the impact on the music world that she has. Ciara, Beyonce, Rihanna etc. are all marketed under the image that Janet and Madonna made popular in the 80’s. It didn’t take record labels long to realize what a “cash cow” a pretty woman who can dance seductively can be. And ever since, female artists have been recycling that formula for success.

Don’t you all understand that if it wasn’t for Janet and Madonna these young chicks may never have thought to incorporate tightly choreographed, sexy dance moves into their performances and videos? Or, if they were able to think of it, they probably wouldn’t have had the balls to actually go through with such a risky new routine (well, Britney might’ve had the balls cause she down for whateva, lol). It really seems that Janet went back to her old formula from 20 years ago, all black clothes,nice dance number, the build up to the dance number, and there is nothing wrong with that. I got what they were going for but I think people really want to see her do something that she hasn’t really done before. This concept (futeristic) was done with Busta. Dancing was good but not impressed with the video..comcept was a bit off to me.

I liked B. Scott’s version better. Maybe he should’ve choreographed her video. 75% of the video was dead air, and then toward the end we got to see some sort of action/life going in the video.

Also, when has dancing in a simulated bowl of milk been a great concept for a video. When I think feedback, I think of some sort of audio reverberation…there is so much that can be done with that concept. I love me some Janet- she just needs to figure out what formula will work for the artist she is today. Overall I gave the video a C+ (that’s only for the dance break at the end).

Video is weird but it’s okay with me…reminds me of “scream” with her and Mike and the video she did with Busta…..I think it will be a hit and you can see by her dancing movements, where most of today’s stars get their moves…she had to bring it back and show them who is really on top.

I must admit, I wasn’t feeling it at first. Then all of a sudden I started bobbing my head and started moving from side to side…LOL!! By the time the video was over, I was sold. I loved the concept of the video.

They BECAME artists because they want to be appreciated. We are very hard on our musical artists, actors, actresses, politicians…its like somewhere we got confused and believed that “tough love” means kicking the crap out of people and telling them its for their own good. I think this generation (and I am still a bona fide Hip Hop fanatic) has sort of sullied what it means to be an R &B or Hip Hop fan vs. Mainstream…I mean come on–why is “crank dat soulja boy” being played all over urban radio? I can’t find a Talib Kweli song on radio to save my life…but I can hear that annoying “crank dat soulja boy” all day long…and WTF is a soulja boy anyway?

The urban stations in my town play more Justin Timberfake than black artists….I really think that R&B music and Hip Hop have gone to hell in the last several years. I like a lot of different types of music but right now, i’m not sure that R&B is an area where black artists can be appreciated. Urban stations play more Fergie than Mary J. Blige.

Once hip hop and urban culture became “cool” and was featured in everything from Mcdonalds commercials to computer commercials, it became mainstream.
It was co-opted…rebranded, re-classified, given a new king and queen (justin and fergie) packaged and sold to us….and you know what, we bought it–all while rejecting and mercilessly kicking the crap out of our own artists (like Janet).

There are things I like about just about every black artist out there (ummmm except that soulja boy kid..I’m sorry…its just annoying). I want to see Janet and the rest of them be successful, shine, and make good music.
