It’s not if you don’t like something, it’s the reasoning for you not liking something, lets not get in here and act like we don’t know that there are people who are nengative just becuase the wind is blowing outside. They just so happen to congregate in a place where the topic of discussion are people whom are more successful then they are and in many cases will ever be, which is like swimming in the atlantic when a chick has her period. It’s gonna attract some negative attention.
The fact of the matter is I think theres a bt of hate going on becuase of the quotes, people know timid ol’ Kelly has never spoken negativley against any artist let alone a taboo subject like former members of destiny’s child, so thats a joke and people are just using that as a platform to speak negativley against her becuase they resent the fact that she’s comfortable in B’s shadow. It’s like that episode of top model where Tyra yelled at that chick becuase she didn’t care enough to try and just gave up. “WE WERE ROUTING FOR YOU, WE WERE ALL ROUTING FOR YOU , HOW DARE YOU ! lol And people ave simply turned all that energy they used to praise Kelly to spite Beyonce (let’s not kid our selves), into Kelly now becuase this is the 4th or 5th un inspired blaze’ song from her in a row and people feel like shes wasting her potential. Does that mean she deserves all the negative comments, no it doesn’t but as I said this is a blog and thats what a lot of people congragate here for. People are packing away the foam rubber giant hands and “GO KELLY ” banners and turnign against her. Just like back in 06 when she was doign promotion for her album and you couldn’t hear anythign bad about he, coincidentley becuase B had her album and dreamgirls about to drop.

Concreteloop debuted this song a few months ago, and like i said before, i love the song, it’s cute and happy…..but this damn video is horrible! It looks uncoordinated, no real theme, the characters all seem to be doing their own thing, her and travis have no chemistry on camera, it’s just looks like one big eccletic mess. I think i know what she was trying to do, but it came off stiff and you walk away thinking “what was that.” She should reshoot the video….this is not it…
And what’s up with people re-releasing the same cd…..all this leaking tracks, pushing albums back are suppose to prevent this from happening…..I swear i don’t understand why they think they will add a few new tracks, and suddenly this cd is suppose to fly off the shelves….
Kelly is trying hard, but i suspect if she had more personal character, and less kiss-ass personality, people might take her a bit more seriously…..people just don’t buy her as a solo artist and i think it’s because of her personality….she seems very sweet, but to me, a solo artist need a bit of an edge, something raw, she is just too sugary sweet (if that’s real), and it’s a bit annoying when she does the constantly praising other artists and yo shit not selling…..she mixes business with family shit too much, and it’s annoying….it’s like she wants to succeed, all while staying in her little lane, without pissing off other people in the industry (what type of business sense is that; you either be a beast or get out the game).
I don’t know what to say about her….i guess just good luck, and get a backbone, truly stand on your own, give others their props, but stop praising others in the same game you are in; that’s just good business.
When Michelle drops her cd, it’s gone be fire, why? Because Michelle seems to have the attitude that “yeah, i was a member of destiny’s child, and we were the shit, but i also got something i want to show you, this is my gift, i’m the shit by myself too.” LOL….but you just get that vibe from her…..
I get the same vibe from Letoya, but Kelly just seems to have that “pleasing others first” personality, and that does not work within the entertainment industry……when people were criticizing Ye for being arrogant, please, if he doesn’t think he’s the best, who else will?

This song is terrible. Kelly needs to really take some time and think this stuff through. Some of the stuff she releases is just a mess, and this is an example. “Like This” was cool, and “Ghetto” was alright, but everything else from Kelly has been a bonafide flop waiting to happen. And she had the nerve to talk all that stuff about LeToya? LeToya went platinum, had a huge hit song, and won an ASCAP award… Kelly did absolutely nothing. Karma is a bitch Kelly Rowland.

I actually liked the song. The video was ok. It could’ve been better. Kelly has the look and the voice. I really hope everything works out for her. She still needs to get a dayum backbone though.
The video could have done w/o all the movie clips. Kelly is very talented but just needs to right people to back her. I heard a new song off of Letoya’s upcoming album and I love it. I think it is all about image. Bey, kelly, michelle, and letoya are all grown ass woman now, not bubbly teenagers anymore. Bey, Kelly, and Letoya are displaying they are grown now. Kelly isn’t. She still has that koolaid grin and sweet innocent persona. I’m not saying she should go whorish like Christina Aguilera did with Dirty, but she should switch it up to get noticed. LeToya was certified Platinum. That is how many copies of the album that the record company shipped to retailers. She did not sell a mililon copies. Not even 500,000. She barely scanned 300,000. Why are you comparing her debut to Kelly’s sophomore album, which most sophomore albums to worse than their debuts. Kelly’s debut sold over 500,000 in the US (certified Gold) and sold over 2 million worldwide. She had 4 top 20 hits in the UK and 3 top 10 hits in the UK. “Dilemma” topped the charts in the US for weeks. You can not tell me it wasn’t bigger than “Torn”. Her debut album was rushed because of the success of “Dilemma”. They won multiple Grammy’s off of that one song. Her official first single from her debut, “Stole”, was vocally way better than Letoya’s performance in “Torn” and is a more mature topic. I love both of them, but I’m just stating the facts.
Like I said before, it was Beyonce who made that comment about LeToya being tone deaf because I remember reading it in an article. Also, They may have promoted Ms. Kelly, but that was only the week of & before the release. Many people have gone on the record of saying that they didn’t know that it was released. They also hardly promoted her singles. They only sent “Like This” & “Ghetto” for adds at Urban radio. Everybody knows you have to have some mainstream airplay to succeed. They didn’t even bother to send “Like This” for adds at Pop & Rhythmic radio. When they did send “Ghetto” for adds on Urban radio, they waited almost a month to release the video. A week after the song had lost it’s momentum and started falling. So do you still call this good promotion.
Also, how hard could it had been for her to try to talk to Jay Z (through the Beyonce connection) to try to get her a deal at Def Jams. Even if she was moving a million copies, they would still promote the hell out of her singles (if successful) and album. I mean, look at Rihanna. Only one of her albums have sold over a million (1.2 million) and it’s not GGGB. She’s released four singles (including the massive “Umbrella”) and has yet to cross the million mark. But it is selling worldwide, which is what Kelly did with her first album. I think if “Work” continues to grow in the UK (#16 in airplay), by the time the physical is released she could have another top ten in the UK. Then re-release it worldwide and promote it, which is something they did not do well overseas this time. Many overseas didn’t know her album was released. Overall, her and her people need to get their acts together.
I Love Kelly. She is beautiful, talented, and seems like a genuine person. Hopefully she will see the light and realize that Knowles family will keep her low buget. They have to pretend to keep supporting her, because she was the only one to stay with B. Because B needs someone to shine her star against. They don’t want it to seem that she is so self serving. Too bad that shines through anyway.
Kelly had alot of unreleased songs and songs on her album that were good. I actual like this song. Kelly is not backed more by the general because people are disgusted with her. If she left Beyonces’ world everyone would support her more and she would do great. First, Sadat, you’re hilarious; however, I don’t know if Whitney is the best choice unless Kelly plans on really bringning it, I do believe she needs songs with a little more UMPH smack yo mamma! Kelly as of now is doing her own song and you already see the type of criticism she is getting. Imagine all of the Simon Cowell’s out there that will chew Kelly up and s//hit her out like some collard greens and dressing for doing Whitney. That might not be the right field to frollic in. Not quite yet.
Kelly’s problem is that…Kelly’s problems are that she does little to promote herself, which can fall on her label and her as well, the single choices she has (or rather, her label have selected) are poor, and finally, her singles are released when B is still patting her weave. Let’s examine.
1. Promo- Kelly No-land. where is she? Need I say more? Well, I feel like talking so it doesn’t matter. While Kelly made some appearances here and there if you really want to see an album take off you need to be in front of that camera. If they can’t get you booked, book yourself on YouTube. You can also go to a world primiere of some sort. If that’s not good enough, donate to a charity. Heck, create a charity. People eat that up!
2. Single- Okay, ghetto was cute but uhhh… Yeah, that’s what a lot of people say when you mention Kelly. “Uhh.” A lot of r&b artists try to ride on the a//sses of hip hop stars. That only works in porn. In the recording industry you need to establish yourself as in individual. Kelly has yet to do that. Have you noticed that her biggest hits were collabos? Kelly and DChild, Kelly and Nelly, Kelly and Eve… That’s very Nate Dogg of her…and we all know where he is.
Either way, she needs a power ballad or a club hit. That song Gotsa Go would have been great. It’s spicy. Daylight, however, is just ordinary. It’s a nice song but there’s no spark, no flame…just a thud.
3. B-Throne – Kelly, right now, is no match for the Beyoncedom we live in. She’s great. We cannot deny it so why try to fight it. Kelly cannot release an album/single when Beyonce is still going strong because when in competition, B will be on top. I mean, look who’s backing her up…

If Kelly wants a hit she’s going to have to sclupt her way into the minds of the listening public.That being said, she needs to create something that people can use in their everyday life—-words, phrases. If you can communicate it, it’ll stick with you. Examples – Beyonce’s done it with upgrade u, bootylicious, freakum dress, independent women. If not that, then make an analogy or a dance but as an artist, creating is the key.
Love ya Kelly. Don’t love the mess. Oh, and her re-release better have more than one new song on it. Revamp it!

I like this song…the video needs to be released without the movie clips. Here and Travis look hot together. I agree that she is no B…but then again who would want to b B all the time. Since our topic of conversation has shifted to music, it’s pertinent to mention that Rowland will be re-releasing her second album, Ms. Kelly in March 2008. The first single to mark the album release is Daylight, a collaboration with Gym Class Heroes and she was all excited about it.
“I had a great time recording it with those creative hunks,” Rowland said of the collaboration. “Shooting the music video for the song was hilarious, with Travis especially. He looked so funny and cute when he was riding a weird modified-bicycle in the middle of the bustling city. “I’m looking forward to working with them again and if I’m lucky, I would love to collaborate with other great producers like Timbaland just to freshen up my sound a little more,” she added.
When asked why she decided to re-release the album and not record a new one instead, Rowland said it was simply because she felt the final tracklist were made of too many midtempos and ballads. “I didn’t realise it while I was recording it. After it was released [back in June] many fans said the songs would rock if they were more upbeat.” “I guess that might have been the cause of the poor acceptance to Ms. Kelly the first time around. Hopefully, the fans are going to be much happier with the rereleased version.”
When asked about the best way to describe her music, Rowland said all her solo albums serve as her secret diaries where she can be Kelly Rowland the person and not the star. “My music is basically about the person in me, my feelings and how I dealt with things in life. I feel the sincerity is really important, especially in establishing the connection with my fans.”
