Looks like the beautiful Leona Lewis is gearing up for a US release! Here is the premiere of her US version of the video for her single, “Bleeding Love.”
Many have called Leona the new Mariah, and some have dubbed her the UK’s Beyonce. But I think Leona is an artist all her own. The video premiered yesterday on Yahoo! Music and will be premiere on TLR today. Check her out!

not a fan. i’ve also heard her being called the crossbreed between whitney and mariah- mariah’s range and whitney’s power. it’s kind of true actually but still she doesn’t amaze me. they did make her look good here though. usually she looks like a horse but she looks beautiful here. she might make it big here

She sounds very good. But why does every new black woman that comes out have to be the next Beyonce, Mary J, or Mariah. Why do people have to compare one with the other. Why is it that people need to compare and put black women against each other. Its always the new Mariah, or the new Beyonce. They don’t do that to the successful white singers like Christina Aguilara etc.

Actually Simon Cowell endorses her. He discovered Leona on his show X-Factor in the UK and thinks she’s the best thing since sliced bread! And Leona had the number 1 album of 2007 in the UK. Perhaps if she showed her body more, writhed around like a two bit “video vixen”, she will be accepted in the US.

the uk has never had a big diva so there basically trying to mak leona the next whitney/mariah/beyonce. although she can sing, her voice isnt that strong and she’s a very naive (but nice) girl. she comes across very insecure-in the music biz u have to be thick skinned and leona is as thin skinned as they come.
the uk video which was in fact shot in LA is better, i dont know y they wasted time re-doing the video and its much worse than the old one.
leona’s album is also extremely boring like the same song over and over again, just ballads. if she wants to be the next mariah she needs to make up her own image, her own sound and be distinctive. how are u gonna be a star when u sound like everyone else out there? did diana ross sound like tina? no did bey sound like mariah? no. i also think she lets her label push her around alot, theyre trying to copy the mariah formula.

I am also British and here is my opinion on Leona…
I didn’t personally like the song at first but after a few listens it grows!!! Leona can sing her ass off, theres no doubt there but i dont think she is the next Mariah, Whitney or Beyonce. Leona sings quite weak on her verses but she can belt the fuck out of the end. She doesnt have the skill of Beyonce nor the range of Mariah. I think most girls can hit the notes Leona hits… they’re nothing amazing.
I think she looks very beautiful in this video. Wirh Simon Cowell on her side she cant go wrong.
I think If Leona would’ve released this song off her own back without the X Factor hype she would go un-noticed like the rest of the UK power vocalists like

I don’t know how big she is going to be over here cause we already have mariah over here so it is going to be alil hard for her to break over here . The first video they shot was better than this though but I guess I can understand why they gave her a new video. She is going to have to come harder over here than that song though. I guess depending on her promo and how the public takes to her we will see if she makes it .
She’s a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice. But the song is over the top and dated. It does remind me of early MC. Back when Tommy Mattola had control of her image and made her put out an album a year. But I prefer the soulful, hip-hop sampling Mariah myself (think Butterfly, Daydream and TEOM). But I still wish Leona the best. The girl can sing and she deserved her record contract. Even if her music isn’t my cup of tea.

As far as the video. I think they should have left the other one, though I did like the way the video ended very much. Her CD is a bit boring, but there is no denying she has some power vocals. She has some staying power, but I don’t think we’ll get to see that until the next CD. Everybody that comes out of American Idol, Ex-Factor, whatever, all their first CDs sound exactly the same. It isn’t until the second CD, that we get their real personalities in their music. Give her some time. Support her. she’s going to get nothing but better.

She has a very very very nice sound and voice quality. She’s gonna hit big. She looks better since the nose job thank god. I think she’s a big talent.
Lets put things into perspective. Anyone raised or who has lived in England know that when they break artists there, they do not pigeon hole them into RnB or make them a black or white artist as it is a very diverse market, unless the artist goes that route intentionally. In America, artists like Christian Millian, Mya and Latoya are geared towards the urban (read: black) market.
Simon cowell just brought out a Mariah(esque) type singer with instant crossover appeal. Even Destiny’s Child had to work her way up from BET with songs like “no no no” and “Bills bills bills”.
In America, people try to divide and conquer so much because they have no mind of their own. Just because she is light skinned weaved out and a singer the first thing people do is compare her to Beyonce. Although in our defense here in America Simon Cowell did call her on the “x factor” the British Beyonce. But he set her up for too much of a fall because too many people (especially some obvious stans on CL) love Beyonce and ALL she has achieved.
Leona is a fresh new artist with a nice voice trying to make it.

This song is quite kibbles and bits, in other words it’s gone to the dogs. Not feeling it, I was looking for her to be a stand out artist, maybe she could with it later! Another artist to check from the UK is Lemar.

She actually did that song some justice ….unlike the other so many 100s of people that go on to those types of shows and ruin it with the first word they try to sing. People always get me mad when they try to sing “I will always love you” in the style of Whitney, but I’ll make an acception for Leona.
