VIDEO: MONTEL WILLIAMS REPULSED BY ALL THE COVERAGE OF HEATH LEDGER

Montel Williams was a guest on ‘FOX and Friends’ over the weekend and the talk show host put them on blast because the F&F crew wanted him to talk about Heath Ledger’s death. Instead, the 22-year US veteran insisted that the media is obsessing about one celebrity death while ignoring the casualties in Iraq. Watch the video above.

Montel is an arrogant ass. Fuck him.

  2. Vixen23

I think Montell is right. I was a big fan of Heath’s work and I became disgusted when people started accusing him of being a drug junkie!! I mean hello, he was stressed out of his mind after his breakup as it is and he probably overdosed accidentally. But the way the media was portraying him was disgusting. All for the ratings!!

What Montell was really upset about was that these journalists should take the time out to learn the faces of the dead soldiers because after all they died for a cause, whether it’s right or not.

  3. PIGFEET

I get what Montell is saying but who told the troops to go to Iraq? You make your bed, you lay in it.

It obviously affected him because he went to her funeral and appeared in her video tribute.

And for the people who are saying that the troops should be commended, I agree. But how about the thousands of police officers out there who confront the real perps you see on a daily basis? Did you forget about them? Probably because we are always so busy trying to give them a bad rap that we take their jobs for granted. They protect us from ourselves, and we are our own worst ememy.

    Go Get’em Montel

  6. Emma V's Great-Grandaughter

Go head Montel! But I think that America has always been obsessed with celebirties for years. Yes it’s sad that Heath Ledger passed away last week but let him rest in peace and all of the celebirties passed as well. The media need to focus on real issuses like the war, politics and so on. I just wish that the media stop talking about Britney, Paris (who is a nobody), Lindsay Lohan and Amy Whinehouse all the time.

  7. perhapsfine

So true I feel him…man I really do.

  8. Sizzle

Montell doesn’t like this white male getting all this attention! Had it been a white female he wouldn’t have a problem.

  9. ANGEL_MINDED

Ok I haven’t watched the video, but I do somewhat agree w/ the comments posted. Heath’s death is fresh, but at the same time when do you draw the line? When is it enough? Every daytime talk show, news/entertainment outlet is bombarding the public w/ nothing new about his death! It’s just sickening and annoying! I’m sorry that he passed away, but I don’t want nor need to hear about 24/7! Dayum…get over it already!

  10. SlickRick

I feel the same. Much respect for the life that was lost, but I didn’t know him. But there are people over there dying for me daily. Sad state our media and country are in.

  11. Jay

I agree with Montel 100%. The media focuses on the wrong things. Paris Hilton going to jail was great, BIG news…Britney Spears going through what she’s going through is such great, BIG news. And now the excessive press on Heath Ledger’s death. With all of the allegations of possible over dose, being depressed and whatnot…has anyone in the media stopped and remember that Heath has a family, particularly his daughter, and friends who loved him very much and how upsetting it is to see and hear this kind of negative press. His little girl is going to grow up one day and read the crap the press wrote about her father. Granted its their job to report things but a little respect and consideration wouldn’t hurt for Heath Ledger, his family and friends. And not to mention folks like Britney Spears who needs to be left alone. Leave these people alone and focus on whats really affecting this country such as the WAR and the men and women who are risking their lives everyday for us.

  12. Nicole

You know what… as much as Montel works my last nerve due to the fact that he praises and worships the ground that any blonde white woman walks on, I couldn’t agree with him more on this issue. The man has a valid point, yes it is sad about the death of Ledger, but Im tired if seeinging it on every news station for the past week… enough is enough!!!

  13. Miss Lele

I agree with Montel. Once a celebrity dies, it’s crazy how the media covers the story over and over. They always make it seem like the person knew they were going to die (“Check out what WHOMEVER said in their last interview.”) and then they try to blame it on someone else (“If WHOMEVER would have done WHATEVER they could have saved WHOMEVER.”) This is really silly. Can’t a person die in peace and just be gone without all the hooplah?

  14. I SWEAR IGNORANCE MUST BE BLISS

    # 35 i agree 1000%. that’s the problem with the world today .i feel Montel on that one. It’s the truth and it’s always the case.hate it or love it.case closed.

  15. The Accused Haters

    #131…words right outta my mouth.

  16. MURDA

hes absolutely right. more attention needs to be paid to the people dying in this unneccessary war in iraq we got goin on right now.

also, the media never overglorifies any of our black celebrities that have died. you’ll hear about them for 1 day, and thats it. its been probably a week and we’re still hearin about heath ledger.

  17. Camille

SILLY RABBIT #13- I feel you exactly…we can complain all we want to, but we don’t get to decide what is real news. For those who can say that they feel Montel exactly (although I didn’t get to see it), what we get to see in the news is filtered, and honestly everyone is tired of seeing casualties day after day. Does that mean we forget about it…NO. Most people would rather it not be reported on the news day in and day out even though it’s still going on. In that instance…if you expect change…do something about it. Whether you see casualties of war on the news on Monday only or on Monday thru Friday…it won’t change until people get off their asses and do something about it, especially Montel. It’s so easy to complain about something…but then what? I can definitely see both sides of the coin and their is no simple solution to the problem. Talkin about Heath Ledger a little less won’t change how many people get killed in Iraq today. Be upset that we’re over there in a war for whatever reason it may be and can’t take care of the people here in your very country. You can’t not have your house in order and try to go run things in someone elses house. The system is set up in a Lose/Lose situation…somebody pays for it. Until you take a better look at the News as a whole, we will continue to be caught up in the lives of the Britneys and the Paris Hiltons of the world while people everywhere, even down the street from you are starving, being raped, killed, or just plain taken advantaged of and not being heard.

  18. Elegance1981

I have so much more respect for Montel Williams now. I used to think he just had a know it all attitude and I agree with him so much. I’m tired of hearing about Brittney Spears Child Endangerment Issues. Her issues are because of her own bad choices. This Ledger dude was probably another actor involved in a drug overdose, who probably have made no impact on society what so ever. I have family in the military also and he makes a very valid point. When there are deaths that are mentioned in Iraq the news is only given about 15 seconds max.

  20. Lets be Real

OMG….Some of the ignorance on here is just pathetic….#8 & 16…get real….. I couldn’t even read all these blogs…I just had to shake my head…tsk, tsk

Obviously we all care somewhat about gossip…hence the reason you come to ConcreteLoop BUT to say people have been dying since 03 and to say it so snidley is just INSANE. Every life is valuable. As we have our opinions Montel has his as well….last I checked this IS AMERICA the same country where soldiers & people like MLK died in order for us to live and speak so freely. To bad they don’t sell common sense…Lord knows they’d make a killing!

  21. LadyA

THANK YOU!! My husband and I had this EXACT same convo Saturday am b/c I too have been disgusted with the coverage he’s getting. I’m sorry for his family and friends and fans, but seriously…that takes up all coverage over the war, the financial situation of the US, the election…?! People care more about celebrities and what’s going on with them than they do a regular joe on the street. True…he touched people through his art and celebrity but at the end of the day…He was a MAN! Not a God. I think that God would be angry with all of this, which is in a way, a form of idolatry. People fly from all over to lay flowers at a doorstep of a man they never met, but won’t give $5 to a homeless man right outside their own house. This way of thinking and doing in our world just lets me know that we cannot continue to exist this way.

  22. LadyA

And another thing..on the subject of Heath Ledger…I like how the media talks about people who use or abuse prescription drugs like it’s no big deal, especially when the majority of those users are of the pale persuasion, but let it be known…they try to make us look bad all day long like black people are the biggest users and dealers around. What they don’t want you to know is that the biggest drug use in this country is of the prescription kind and it’s users are middle class white americans and their kids. There’s a news worthy story right there, but you know we won’t see that on Fox News.

  23. step_into_the_light

Montel needs to go smoke some more of his chronic and STFU. Always got something to say.

  24. Greatestloveofall

I’m repulsed by the fact that this man still thinks the slave trade exists with all his uncle tom white woman pandering.

  25. step_into_the_light

    I agree with 136.

  26. monhol

i never saw it like that but i am saddened for heath’s family.but they are going overboard with the coverage of his death. i was a disgusted about the fact that when ronald reagan died it was all this fanfare for a man who was over 90 yeras old. i work with the elderly. i felt sad when it came out that he had alzheimers because that is a ugly, ugly, disease. but ronald sad to say did not remember who are where he was. his casket was closed because he probably did not look so well. sorry to say. he was above ground for a week before he was buried and i said that is too much for his family to bare. he should have been buried soon as possible. sorry for rambling but i think there should be more coverage on who passes away in iraq. we should know his or her names and ranks. also what kinds of lives they had. let us meet the parents and put flowers and cards out for them. there is nothing worse than losing a child. mainly to murder. yes, those boys and girls are being sent to the slaughter in iraq. even the iraqi people are being sent to the slaughter also. suicide bombs and shit. montell hit the nail on the head. it is okay for a person with fame and money or just money to die from drugs because it is such a “tragedy” but if was “jamal” or “keisha” it would be another dead black person who died from drugs in the “hood” if it was “sally” from the “hood” she would be just another dead ” white girl.” fame and money does not give you brains and common sense. you can not buy morals.

  27. Talking to The SGT

That was a good look for montel I’m not a fan of him but I respect him as a fellow veteran the media covers stuff base on popularity not priority. RIP to my fallen brothers in arms

  28. blackisbeautiful

    @ 136

That’s not true because when Donda West died, they focused on that for a long time! lol and she not a celebrity her son is lol..but I catch ya drift

  29. chocolate&lovinit!

My condolances to Heath Ledger’s family. But Montell is right! Heath Ledger is famous and all this, most people know him, but we need to recognize the troops in Iraq also! If the news is going to tell us who died, then tell us how because all they’ve been talking about is who Heath was and what the THINK happened. I think it’s time for the truth.
Why was Mary Kate the first one the maid or whatever called? That’s strange.
    Lets get the truth people!

  30. pms

america is too obsessed with celebrities. freakin celeb dies and everybody on messageboards rip’ing like a mofo. it’s ridiculous. people gonna die everyday. if he wasn’t a celeb we wouldn’t give a rat’s tail about him. we need to prioritize and focus on self and building health and wealth and stop bally-hooing over celebrities are simply employed humans just like every other working class member of society. who gives shiiiit he died? oh well, don’t mean to come off jerky but I don’t care. I didn’t know him. no personal connection to him whatsoever. don’t care he was a great actor because he had absolutely no impact on my life. keeping it moving.

  31. Montel is sooo right (more focus should be geared towards soldiers in Iraq). The media really went to far covering Heath’s death. Heath is a great actor and yes his death was shocking, but they should of left his family and friends alone.

  32. Anonymiss

I’m with Montel on this one. I am too sick of hearing about Heath Ledger. He left his daughter with no father. Shame on him.

  33. Anonymiss

As of 1/28/08, 35 troops have died since the top of the year. Total so far is 3941.

  34. tanya

i totally agree..although its sad and tragic but everytime u turn the channel its on the tv guide channel for petes sake damn!! i bet u we know more about heath than the war in iraq..about him, that daughter, and his ex wife from dawson’s creek…i also believe if it were taye diggs or will smith..hell even denzel for that matter it would be mentioned and thats it not weeks of coverage…honestly i feel for his family but i didnt even know who he was i mean i heard that name before..i figured out who he was from one of his first movies (10 things i hate about u) america’s priorities are definitely messed up..im so sick of BRITNEY SPEARS…i mean come on…if they could find out wat color her shit is it would be all over cnn and every damn channel…can we hear more about barak obama, and the starving kids in africa…

Montel will always be the man… It is time for him to transition into another area anyway, and no doubt with his talent, he will do extremely well with whatever he chooses to do.

  37. JADA MISS

I like Cocrete Loop I think it is entertaining and informative. I feel that the media focuses on sensationalizing the pettiest things the white celebs do and do not accurately or fairly cover real issues. Raise your hand if you lost sleep cuz Paris went to jail! (NOT) I could care less if Britney spoke spanish or had sex with an animal. She is fronting and it is so obvious! She is playing a stupid game and unfortunately her kids may suffer. I bet if the paparazzi/media stopped following her daily and ignored her antics she would “suddenly” be “normal” or sober or whatever….Yall know if it was somebody like Ashanti acting like that we wouldn’t see or hear a darn thing it wouldn’t be covered on CNN or no outlet like that. I appreciate CL for keeping it real and keeping me informed on the comings and goings in Black entertainment and other issues that are important to me.

Thanks Angel and Staff Big ups to all ya’ll! Other blogs could learn from u!

  38. Jessy

The american troops gonna stay in IRAQ for a long time.
Obama is the one who save america.

  39. Tealeaf

Iam glad his show is going off the air and if he wants to talk about troops , talk about it with the President and Congress who is causing 28 troops to die each yr, Iam sick of hearing about the war and Heath death…

  40. The Mars Volta

I Hate Montel..Im Glad His Show Is Being Cancelled!!!! He Always Think He’s Right. And Yeah It’s Sad The Troops Have Died, But What do You Expect To Happen?? We’re At War..Shit I Wouldn’t Even Be Over There Fighting Such A Bulshit War…Everyone Who Goes Over TO Iraq Knows What To Expect..I Guess America Has Just Gotten Numb To The Whole Situation. And A lot of People Would Ask How’d I Feel If I Had Fam Out There…First Of All, I’d Just Be Prepared For The Worst.

  41. Paul Brown

We need Montel. He is possibly the only talk show host/media outlet that’s on our side. He’s not for the government or the media or himself. He is for the people and cares about us all. We need someone like him to connect people and media. He is one of the smartest, most down to earth, caring people on TV. His show is the only talk show i would ever watch. Every other talk show is crap. I really hope Montel is able to get back on the air. This whole situation just shows what kind of stuff the American population has to deal with and we need someone like him to fight for us and the TRUTH

  43. Motorcycle Accident Attorney

Thanks for every other fantastic post. The place else could anybody get that kind of information in such a perfect manner of writing? I’ve a presentation subsequent week, and I am on the look for such info.
