Yes, I always love to tune into the Image Awards; and like many of the winners last night said, it is the only event that shows talented people of color. I mean, you will never see something like that anywhere else.

So, I thought that the ceremony was wonderful, and so close to being elegant until DL Hughley’s ghetto self starting spouting off at the mouth with all the “ass” and “damns” that he felt the need to throw around every few seconds?

And another thing, did Tyler Perry have to win every award?

I mean, I know he has employed most of black Hollywood, but there were some other movies, TV shows and actors that had some wonderful moments as well.

Nonetheless, my black people made me proud.

Everyone was so beautiful, and the production was impeccible.

So, all in all, I loved it.

i loved the show.it was very good.kirk franklin did my song.janet looked so amazing and so deserved her award and her surprised look when they called her name was even more of a reason she deserved it.she has always had a humbling spirit.lastly i was glad that the great debaters won all the awards that it did because that movie was a powerful one and the oscars just over looked it but thats okay because the naacp awards where you are recognized by your own people is what truly matters

Congrats to Janet for her Best Supporting Actress award … I loved her in “Why Did I Get Married?”. Them forty-somethings were putting the young girls to shame last nite! Janet’s body (booty!) was straight up bananas in that black dress, and Angela Bassett is just timelessly gawjus. As for the men, Denzel worked it out as usual, but JD was looking like the Nutty Professor. Not hatin, JD, but I wasn’t feelin the “lab coat” look …

Sometimes I wonder why do some of the black entertainers never go to any of the black award shows anymore. Is it because they are sick of black hollywood or something and when they get nominated for any oscar, emmy, golden globe. They become to hollywood and they forget that they are black entertainers in show business. Look at Jada Pinkett she was at these black award shows before she married Will Smith and now she is all hollywood because of him. If she wasn’t married to him she would probably be at all of the black award shows.

I thought all the women really showed out this year. They all look beautiful. I love Loretta Devine with the natural hair. I hope Jurneee Smollet continues to get roles commesurate with her talent, she’s our next black up-and-coming young talent.
Ruby Dee, Angela Bassett, Holly R.P., Vanessa Williams, and Robin Givens (fab!) are all great reasons for young sisters to recognize that black beauty is timeless. My 40 plus sisters inspire me.

As for Aretha…you know she is like so many women who might have been thick or plump or fluctuating in weight when they are younger. Far too many of us are overweight and we think it’s not significant. It’s fortunate that Aretha is still here with us, but those women who are struggling with weight at 20, 30 or even 40, Aretha is your future. Let’s get on a mission to get healthy, ladies. Aretha, diva that she is, needs our support, not our contempt.

Is it me or does most of them look a little casual for a award show. The rare time they get invited to the oscars they go all out with the hair, dress, and jewelry and make sure they show up.
