Yes, I always love to tune into the Image Awards; and like many of the winners last night said, it is the only event that shows talented people of color. I mean, you will never see something like that anywhere else.

So, I thought that the ceremony was wonderful, and so close to being elegant until DL Hughley’s ghetto self starting spouting off at the mouth with all the “ass” and “damns” that he felt the need to throw around every few seconds?

And another thing, did Tyler Perry have to win every award?

I mean, I know he has employed most of black Hollywood, but there were some other movies, TV shows and actors that had some wonderful moments as well.

Nonetheless, my black people made me proud.

Everyone was so beautiful, and the production was impeccible.

So, all in all, I loved it.

Is it because they are sick of black hollywood or something and when they get nominated for any oscar, emmy, golden globe. I thought all the women really showed out this year. They all look beautiful. I love Loretta Devine with the natural hair. I hope Jurneee Smollet continues to get roles commesurate with her talent, she’s our next black up-and-coming young talent.
Ruby Dee, Angela Bassett, Holly R.P., Vanessa Williams, and Robin Givens (fab!) are all great reasons for young sisters to recognize that black beauty is timeless. My 40 plus sisters inspire me.

As for Aretha…you know she is like so many women who might have been thick or plump or fluctuating in weight when they are younger. Far too many of us are overweight and we think it’s not significant. It’s fortunate that Aretha is still here with us, but those women who are struggling with weight at 20, 30 or even 40, Aretha is your future. Let’s get on a mission to get healthy, ladies.
