The always eclectic Erykah Badu talks about life, music and love in a new interview with Giant Magazine. In the issue (set to hit stands on Feburary 11th), Erykah speaks on her exes, Common & Andre 3000:
Andre 3000 & Erykah have a son named Seven.
Common & Erykah when the were dating.
“I know about the backlash, the ‘Erykah Badu, if you look at her, she’ll make you change gods and wear crochet pants’ backlash,” she says. “But nobody looks at the things that those people have given to me.”
What have they given you?
“Just so much musical freedom. Common is the most humble person I ever met. Kind and generous. He reinforced that in me. Andre is very creative and artistic. All of that that you see of him, that’s all him. That’s how he is, and that gave me a creative push, too.”
Although Badu is fairly cryptic when discussing her old beaus, she allows this brief, whispered indulgence.
“With Andre, we were both very young, so we didn’t know what we wanted or anything. We just knew we were in love, and we didn’t care who saw us. With Common, it was a little bit more mature.”

I I heard that the reason Common and Erykah broke up is becasue they were supposed to be celibate together, but then she turns up pregnant with the DOC’s child. not sure if it is true, but she sure did have a baby rather fast after her and Commom split up. I am just saying……….women can be scandolous too!

I love EryKah and her eccentricity! Big ups to my sister Aquarius! Erykah and Common made a song together called Love of My Life for the Brown Sugar Soundtrack. Can’t wait for the C.D. And I am glad she has such a positive relationship with her exes. They seem like they all really influenced each other to do good things.

I work in retail in Dallas, TX and Erica has been a customer of mine for years now… She is truly the most HUMBLE and talented beings that one can come across… She is far from “WEIRD” as many of you have stated… she’s just HERSELF… She’s full of great conversation and POSITIVE ENERGY… I always feel FULL OF LIFE when she stops by my store… She’s human and she has flaws just like all of us… she simply turns hers into stories through her clothes, hair, music, etc… To know her is to know HAPPINESS…

Badu is very talented and I love her music….
#6 It is ture that her last child is by DOC (of all people!!) and was conceived while she and Common were dating…I heard her speak on it briefly when I lived in Dallas. Although, she NEVER said the child was conceived while with COMMON-I don’t want anyone running and saying they heard or read that Erykah Badu cheated on COMMON with THE DOC….COMMON and Erykah did a lot in the community particularly in their children’s school. I believe COMMON has a son the same age as Seven….they were a great couple!
