Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith hosted Essence Magazine’s First Annual Black Women In Hollywood luncheon. It was a star studded event for Black women in film and television including guests Kerry Washington, Ruby Dee, Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, Tracy Ellis Ross, Raven Symone – and many more.

You’re right. His co-star was Eva Longoria not Paula Patton. If I’m not mistaken the last movie Ms. Patton co-starred in was Deja vu with Denzel Washington.

I think this is a beautiful thing! I love when great people are recognized. In the up coming years Essence should have a black women in the regular world luncheon. No sarcasm I’m dead serious.
I saw this on globalgrind.com. I think it is great that Essence is honoring women in Hollywood. It is very difficult for women in Hollywood especially if you’re Black.

Thank you # 48! Tom & Katie are obviously close to Will and Jada and just b/c they are not black does not mean they don’t have the right to be at a black event. It would be nice to see a lot more of this in Hollywood. Obviously they are supporting their friends and supporting blacks and what we do. I like Tom and Katie, people always speculate but we don’t know what’s really going on w/ them. They seem happy and in love. Good for them, they look cute, and her shoes compliment his shirt and tie.

Why are black people so critical? We’re too hard on each other and it’s so wrong. If ever there was a time to lift and encourage one another…..it is now. All of us have different tastes in style and fashion, so let’s not be so harsh with our words. This was a lovely affair for black women in Hollywood. Let’s leave it at that and remember no one gets it right all the time. I love black people and how we do what we do. Let’s just stop hating!!!
