Spike Lee, Hilary Swank and Wesley Snipes pose for photos at the 80th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday in Hollywood. Since, Ruby Dee was the only black celebrity to be nominated in any of the major categories this year, I didn’t really watch the awards show like that. I watched the Oscar’s in it’s entirety, and clearly Jennifer Hudson looked and sounded like an Academy Award winner last night!

ruby dee didn’t deserve it and didn’t win it. tilda gave a better performance BUT Juno shouldn’t have won best screenplay b/c it was one of the most overrated movies of the year. it tried too hard and unsurprisingly fooled ppl into believing it was fresh/new/original with its pretentious and overly witty lines. it was not a flawless film like everyone portrays it to be. even though ruby didn’t deserve the win in my opinion, it is true that the academy tends to give awards based solely on the age/lifetime achievement of the nominee instead of giving the award to the person who deserved it. i’ve seen many old ppl win awards solely for being old and “in the game” for so long but they were all white actors/actresses so i do understand why some black ppl might be salty but don’t go around acting like she deserved that award b/c tilda deserved it but on the basis that awards tend to be given to old-timers, it would’ve been nice if ruby won. she might not get one until she’s using a walker or wheelchair
Yeah JHud looked beautiful to me. I just want her to live up to the damn Oscar is all. I ain’t seen her since.

Jennifer Hudson has been VERY VERY busy making movies (Sex And The City, Winged Creatures, The Secret Life Of Bees, A Family That Preys Together, A Jazz Man’s Blues, and many more in the waiting (trust me)! She just wrapped Saturday from filming The Secret Life of Bee’s with Dakota Fanning just in time for the Oscar’s…….now she is returning to the studio to complete her album and will start filiming her next movie early March! She’s living WAAAY up to the Oscar that she won! She can’t finish her album because she’s ALWAYS filming!
So those of you who say her 15 minutes are up………Think again LOL! Hollywood and Clive Davis LOVES this woman (trust and believe) she’s not going nowhere!

Quincy Jones—what can I say… Are we not black and proud? We are the only race where men become famous, with money or without money,chose a wife or girlfriend of another race. Why is this so? and what can we do to turn this around for the next generation of black girls. Do you think it will get worse? How many famous or rich Asian, Hispanic, White, Indian,etc,etc. men marry women of another race? Do you think it is skin color,hair texture and the physical (facial) appearance of the offsprings? Kimora Lee Simmons proved that other races are just as,non-college educated, loud, opinionated,bitchy and materialistic…and I don’t buy that she is black. I know black college educated, financial successful (maybe not filthy rich) women who can’t find a date less more a husband. I live in a large metropolitan city, where it seems the “fast food” type working black boy/man even has a Latina girlfriend. I am very concerned. Did were really let all of the media/advertiser’s view of what beauty is penetrate out hearts, minds and souls?

For every Quincy Jones, there are 20 “famous” or “successful” black men that have black wives. I tire of hearing black women complain about famous black men in interracial relationships when about 90% of famous black women are with the white man and have always been from the time of Josephine Baker. In addition to that, no disrespect to you, but many sisters have alienated themselves from the possibility of any long-term serious relationship with black men because they view him as the last accessory to their ensemble as if he’s a purse or something. The implication of that mindset is that some sisters think that their “empowerment” entitles them to ultimate control and decision-making in the “relationship”. Notice how you mentioned all the “college-educated, financially successful” black women that can’t get a date, lol. Do they want to get married or do they want to be wives? There is a difference. Is their “education” (more likely than not indoctrination) supposed to make them a good wife choice?
I don’t think that the black male’s choice of woman has much to do with eurocentric altered standards of beauty. It may to a degree but not to the degree that black women attribute to it. In my opinion, that excuse is a manifestation of some sisters not wanting to acknowledge their own possible shortcomings. The white man’s standards of beauty have changed in the politically correct era and whites have basically confessed to their enamorment of our features and body-type with the tanning, butt and lip implants, mimicry of our style of speech and dress, etc. Don’t underestimate the knowledge that the women of the other races have regarding the tension between the black man and woman. They’re knowledgeable of what black men feel black women are not willing to do and these women will attempt to fill that void. At the end of the day sis, examine the average red carpet event and take note of how many black men are with black women as opposed to how many black women are “alone” (with the white man/closet lesbian/or with a black man that is “not on their level”). Leave the stigmas alone for a second and take an actual tally.
So stupid, You only watdh the Academy’s if there are blacks nominated. Suppose white people said that or Rush Limbaugh(only watched whites). All hell would break lose. There are actors you know who aren’t black that deserve recogniznition too. So you are only interested in black people ? Suppose whites only voted for whites. Blacks only voted for Blacks? Where would Barack Obama be?. Why is it that black folks want everyone in the world , including, whites to give us proper credit/dues, yet we will only give folks props if they are black. Can’t you see beyond race? I guess not. You are just as racist and narrowed minded as any redneck white person I run across.
