IMO, the Grammy’s was pretty wack this year. Aside from performances from Kanye and Alicia Keys, everyone else was lackluster. It was actually a bore. Anyway, this post is about the most talked about moments…
First up, Kanye West. He was pissed at Grammy producers when they tried to cut his acceptance speech short. Producers of the show played music to try to hurry him off stage as he accepted the ‘Best Rap Album of the Year’ Grammy in honor of his mother. “Come on? You’re going to play music on me,” he said as he was on stage. And then as he went to speak on his mother they still had the music playing.
“..And just to say something about my mother. I appreciate all the support, I appreciate all the prayers. It would be in good taste to stop the music then.”
When the background music stopped the crowd cheered as Kanye finished his speech dedicated to his mother, Donda West, who died late last year.
“I appreciate everything. I know you are really proud of me right now and I know you wouldn’t want me to stop. You want me to be the number one artist in the world and mama, all I’m going to do is keep making you proud. We run this.”
AWKWARD MOMENT FOR JAY-Z & RIHANNA
There was an awkward moment for Rihanna and Jay-Z as the pair scooped a Grammy for their collaboration ‘Umbrella.’ Rihanna tried to hold Jay-Z’s hand as the pair walked up to accept their award but Jay-Z quickly shook the singers hand away. Cameras then caught Rihanna throwing her hands up in the air as if to say, ‘What’s wrong?’ The pair then distanced themselves on the stage as they were presented with their trophy. The scenes were made all the more awkward by the fact that Beyonce was watching from just feet away.
Just last week Rihanna squashed rumors that she was romantically linked to the rapper. She told Cosmopolitan that she was horrified at the gossip, but she said she’d managed to ignore the whispers, thanks to Jay-Z. She said: “I felt self-conscious around him until he took me aside and said that I just had to ignore it.”

If you watch it in real time it wasn’t that awkward at all. She was trying to get him on stage and he shied away for a second. When they got on stage they were joking around and Jay kept coming to the mike “translating” for her jokingly. She jokingly pushed him back so she could finish thanking people. It looked like it was all in good fun and Beyonce was smiling the whole time.

i ACTUALLY thought the Grammy’s was good this year. Of course “Ye was my favorite performer, I cried like a baby when he did “Hey Mama”…so sad. I would have loved loved loved loved to have seen some “Flashing Lights” though, that would have been a great way to do it. That Rihanna thing is so over thought, I didn’t think it was that serious. I was a little disappointed by the Tina/Beyonce performance though, as old and great Tina is for what she does and still can do. I can tell for the first time last nite that she was a little stiff.
So what about the performances? lol. CL don’t waste no time. They get straight to the drama first.

She makes a point to yank him onstage when it’s obvious he doesn’t want to go and him taking his hand back is evidence of that. True he’s on the song with her BUT he was sitting right in the front row, she could’ve easily thanked him from onstage and the camera could’ve paned down and got a shot of him. Great way for her to keep her face on the net and blogs though.

Rhianna is great on red carpets and in concert and structured interviews but the grammys to a girl of that age can be overwelming and a little intimidating.

I didn’t think there was anything awkward about Rhianna pulling Jay-Z up on stage. For once, I think you guys are just looking too much into it. It seemed very much like a big brother/little sister relationship to me, and I even commented on that to my roommate as soon as it occurred. She threw her hands up because she wanted him to accompany her on stage and he was trying to hang back, but it was obvious from the way they joked around on stage and as they were leaving that there was no ill will.
