GRAMMY ROUND-UP: KANYE’S ACCEPTANCE SPEECH / AWKWARD MOMENT FOR JAY-Z & RIRI / NAS SPEAKS ON HIS ATTIRE

IMO, the Grammy’s was pretty wack this year. Aside from performances from Kanye and Alicia Keys, everyone else was lackluster. It was actually a bore. Anyway, this post is about the most talked about moments…
First up, Kanye West. He was pissed at Grammy producers when they tried to cut his acceptance speech short. Producers of the show played music to try to hurry him off stage as he accepted the ‘Best Rap Album of the Year’ Grammy in honor of his mother. “Come on? You’re going to play music on me,” he said as he was on stage. And then as he went to speak on his mother they still had the music playing.
“..And just to say something about my mother. I appreciate all the support, I appreciate all the prayers. It would be in good taste to stop the music then.”
When the background music stopped the crowd cheered as Kanye finished his speech dedicated to his mother, Donda West, who died late last year.
“I appreciate everything. I know you are really proud of me right now and I know you wouldn’t want me to stop. You want me to be the number one artist in the world and mama, all I’m going to do is keep making you proud. We run this.”
AWKWARD MOMENT FOR JAY-Z & RIHANNA
There was an awkward moment for Rihanna and Jay-Z as the pair scooped a Grammy for their collaboration ‘Umbrella.’ Rihanna tried to hold Jay-Z’s hand as the pair walked up to accept their award but Jay-Z quickly shook the singers hand away. Cameras then caught Rihanna throwing her hands up in the air as if to say, ‘What’s wrong?’ The pair then distanced themselves on the stage as they were presented with their trophy. The scenes were made all the more awkward by the fact that Beyonce was watching from just feet away.
Just last week Rihanna squashed rumors that she was romantically linked to the rapper. She told Cosmopolitan that she was horrified at the gossip, but she said she’d managed to ignore the whispers, thanks to Jay-Z. She said: “I felt self-conscious around him until he took me aside and said that I just had to ignore it.”
NAS & KELIS SPORT CONTROVERSIAL ATTIRE
As you probably already noticed from the Grammy - Arrivals post, Nas and Kelis both rock’d clothing items that promoted Nas’ upcoming album entitled, Nigger. He spoke with CNN last night and gave insight on his attire, etc. Kelis is a ride or die chick huh?

cl - why would you post that comment from a newspaper that is still trying to get gossip out of a dead horse that never galloped? I NEVER BELIEVED JAY AND RIRI WENT THERE AND LAST NIGHT PROVED IT. I KNEW THE HATERS WOULD MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF RIHANNA AND JAY. WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IS….
Rihanna is immature. Not that it’s wrong - she’s 19, but Beyonce was VERY mature at 19 and Jay was able to mold her. He was trying to show Rihanna how a lady should be treated. She wanted his hand while he was going to, probably, take her by the arm and help her up the stairs, but in her excitement, it got awkward. They still hugged. I thought the banter on stage was cute. His jokes were funny and her stopping him was funny, but they both walked off arm and arm so it was all good. Rihanna and her family were sitting behind them the whole time. No beef. Jay Brown and Ty-Ty are a part of Rihanna’s team - Jay’s best friends/brothers - no beef. Beyonce was the queen of the night and clearly having a good time, regardless of not having won a grammy.
Stop trying to make beef where there is none.

Every dam year, every Blog complains about how wack the Awards show was…did you even watch the show Angel???
First off, I didn’t see the Nas thing until I came on the blogs, and I must say, Nas and Kelis are digging a deeper ditch for Black people. Who even invited them? Listen, your last stunt, “Hip Hop is Dead’ (as pointed out by my girl on CNN) was a flopped publicity stunt and now this is the new one for ‘08, after all the attention the word got in ‘07. How will this translate to record sales? Nas needs to be dropped for this foolishness, its just a disgrace!
Next, Alicia Key’s performance was MAGICAL! I think she did an awesome job and she deserved her Grammy!
Kanye had a great performance, but I’m sorry, his arrogance is UGLY. I can’t get into him sometimes.
I’m a big Rhi Rhi fan so I was happy she won her first Grammy! When watching the show in real time, me and my peoples were laughing how she just grabbed Jay and took him up. Jay was tryin to be funny, but it was coming across as forced. Of course Beyonce kept smiling, because thats ALL she does….remember when J.Hud won the Oscar??/ B was all smiles
Rhi Rhi needs to forget this Camel and get herself a real man/mentor, for reals!

Even tho the look of death was evident on beyonce’s face (yeah i rewound and watched it from angle right about 15 times) before the courtesy smile kicked in, i think Rihanna was just excited as hell…. hell couple years ago no one even knew where the hell BARBADOS was… far less COMBEREMERE where she went school…
as for kanye… should have blessed mama first, dissed nas and who ever last, they might not of cut him off then, check if u get to watch it over ALL THE RECIPIENTS INCLUDING RIHANNA WERE TOLD TO WRAP UP THE SPEECHES… SHE EVEN SAID AND I QOUTE “Wrap it up? OK!” it ain t like we giving an award to stevie wonder all over again… credits rolling on cbs and he still thanking god, the cheetah that died making that shirt, his optician, his caterer….

I think it’s pretty ironic that of all people Kanye is reprimanding anyone regarding “good taste”…dude you are one of the most rude and classless artist I’ve ever witnessed. Absolutely talented…yes. Good taste…no. Taste doesn’t only apply to how people treat you ‘Ye. You have to give respect to others too.
On a lighter note, you might also reconsider your reflections on “good taste” in light of your often poor choice of attire…”good taste”? ERRRR!

They only gave Kanye the award, fanfare and attention because of his mothers passing. Notice every year at every awards show he throws a damn tantrum about something.
