You won an award and that is the time to thank those who helped you along that journey. Kanye acts like he does nto have anyone to thank cause he did this all himself. Believe someone helped you out along the way whether you believe it is GOd or some other person who is important to your life. I think receviing an award should be a time of gratitude but Kanye is never humble by anything and I think with that kind of attitude something will happen in your life to humble you sooner or later.

It would have been in better “taste” if you would have skipped thanking everyone else and spent the entire time allotted (which obviously isn’t much) to talk about you mother instead of *once again* expecting people to do things the way YOU want them to be done. Those people are not on your payroll so they don’t cater to you, so you shouldn’t expect special treatment.

I think ppl are being a little hard on Kanye. In his defense, if you go back and watch it, he had only been speaking about 30 seconds before they started the music. Other winners got much longer (1.5-2 minutes) to accept their awards. I guess the producers figured they should be glad they are even showing a rap category on the broadcast, even if we only give ya’ll 30 seconds. lol
And, as far as the comment about Common, I thought it was well known that Kanye and Common are cool (Common is on Kanye’s label), so the comment was made in jest, I’m sure Common didn’t take offense to it. They were up for the same award so it was more like “friendly competition.”
I say give him a break, he’s still grieving and healing and he actually seemed a little nervous during his speech. He seemed a little subdued and not nearly as arrogant, so I think the whole thing has humbled him.

I had a friend who worked at the label when rihanna first came onto the scene. Yes Jay was definately smashin that. He was crazy protective of her too. He insisted on being at every performance with her and before she went on, he would have himself locked in with her for at least two hours and put all the staff on watch. he even had a teenage intern escort her to some events so it made it look like she was dating someone her own age. I love Kanye as a musician and his performance was amazing, but when it’s time for him to speak, I just cringe. It’s just something about his attitude. It always seems as if he feels the world OWES him something and that is far from the case. His speech was too long and the music was warranted. Get off the stage.
