JANET JACKSON BRINGS YOU DISCIPLINE

discipline.jpg

Janet Jackson’s 11th studio album, Discipline has leaked and Janet fans across the net are raving. Within the past week, a few tracks have leaked and there have been mixed reviews from bloggers and media commentators alike. I, for one, am excited for Janet’s takeover Time Square week next week, as well as the much anticipate release of Discipline on the 26th of February. The Darkchild and D’Mile-produced “Feedback” has been doing great, gaining play on MTV, which Janet hasn’t had the support of the past few years. And she’s already lined up two other singles, “Rock With U” (a video is being shot) and “Luv.”

On Discipline, Janet takes us back and offers a flurry of interludes and musical transitions with a futuristic and conceptual spin. From what I’d gathered from my first couple listens of the album, it sounds like Janet is going back to basics. She has a slew of radio-friendly tracks from A-List producers, writers and a cool guest spot from Missy Elliott. Janet also gives you a few of her classic, airy ballads. Standout tracks for me include the dance single, “Feedback,” “Rollercoaster,” “Luv,” “The 1″ and I’m loving the Prince-inspired “So Much Betta.”

Discipline really is a cohesive effort to me. Even though she’s still whispering, I think Janet did her fans right by this album, especially after the upset of 20 Y.O.

Make sure that you go cop Janet’s Discipline in stores or via iTunes on February 26th! And stay tuned to CL for more updates on Miss Jackson.

    IM SO HAPPY FOR HER

She Jus Didnt Have The Effort From The Label To Push It
    Yo Go Ma!

  7. Fans are raving???!!!! LOL. I don’t even hear dat “Feedback” ish on da radio down in So. FLA. No matter how much Janet talks about what kind of freaky sex her and Jermaine get into, she is never gonna sell or be big like she was in the 80s and 90s. She needs to seriously stop embarassing herself and step down with some dignity. In the words of Tupac but from a female’s perspective ” All you old r&b singers tryna advance. It’s all ova now, take it like a woman.” Janet, settle down and have a kid cause your singing career is a WRAP!!!!

p..s. Yall know Janet can’t sing any damn ways… in the past she’s always had good producers work with her!!!!! NEXT

  8. KNOWN

@ #8, regardless of her singing means nothing, Janet can do and does her thing. that black list shit they are giving her is wild. THE CD IS HOT, AND SO WAS DAMITA JO!! all the hate and other sh!t doesn’t matter to me, i mean mariah had a breakdown and came back hot, though she can sing her ass off, janet can entertain and put on a show, so let’s see what she does first week!

  9. Nichole

I’ve only heard snippets thus far and was very disappointed in what I’ve heard. I’m gonna go see if I can check out the rest of the album. I also hate the way Janet has 9 interludes out of 22 tracks. Once I hear the full tracks, I hope to be eagerly anticipating the new disc as many are.

  10. peekaboo

love that photo of her. can’t wait to get the album

  11. Island can keep Rock With U, Luv is definetly a better choice for her next single!

  12. James Derry'l

i really like Discipline & i havent liked any of her prior albums since Janet. Work it Girl!

  13. LuvsIt

I agree w/ #14 Luv is the ish! Now THAT should be the next single, though I hear she’s doing a vid for that too. 5 more daysss!

  14. SdotCarter

I USED TO BE A HUGE JJ FAN BUT I HONESTLY HAVE TO SAY THAT ALL OF THE SONGS I’VE HEARD SO FAR ARE GARBAGE :-/

  15. SdotCarter

    LUV IS PRETTY DECENT THOUGH

  16. datryl

did she work with The Neptune’s and if so r they on the album brian?!!

  17. datryl

also @ 10. Damita Jo waz WACK!!!

  18. pat

i like it….and yea JANET WILL NEVER BE THE JANET OF THE 80′S OR 90′S BECAUSE THIS IS 2008 ………..DUHH!! LOL

I’LL BE COPPIN THE AL BUM

  19. 8baller

Since someone leaked the album this week, I already got a bootleg copy(yall know I wasnt going to purchase this foolishness). After listening to it, all the tracks sound like one long ass song. If you it wasnt for the interludes I would think I was listening to the same song over and over. She over used the topic of “sex”. I think there is much more to talk about at age 41.

“Rollercoaster” is the only song I even remotely liked.

She could have kept this. Children I highly disappointed. Its a FLOP waiting to happen.

  20. shawn

    @Nichole
the interludes goes with the songs, they flow together

  21. luvsong

it’s a good cd, i have mine pre-orderd. the snippets don’t do the cd justice at all…
the cd flows nicely….it’s not groudbreaking but it’s hot..

  22. NstntVntage

I think a lot of folks are hating just because. You have to look at the album without any pre-conceived notions and “listen”. People hear what they want to hear but this is truly a well put together, well produced album. She did that and that’s real! How could you honestly not like joints such as Rollercoaster, LUV, Can’t B Good, Curtains, So Much Betta, and many many more. The album is truly undeniable and if people are saying it’s awful then it’s their continuous taste in lackluster music clogging their ears.

  23. Ants

Loving what I have heard so far, can’t wait until tuesday february 26th!

Get it Janet, let the haters fall away as they always do.

    *Dust.

    Janet in 2008!

  24. MW09

LOVE JANET!!!!!!! Can’t wait to buy the album!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. Dame

I see Janet the songs are ok.

  26. cee-cee

Her song Rock With you sounds like a great Runway Song for modeling.. Very energetic, I love it!

  27. cee-cee

OH YES AND I LOVE THE SINGLE LUV!

  28. johnosahon

Rollercoaster is HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, who doesn’t luv luv.

  29. Michael

I’m disappointed in this album. The lyrics of the title track seem odd considering the source. Makes me want to call CPS. And her voice: I know Janet was never hailed as a songbird, but her voice has gotten progressively worse over the last couple of years. On this album she sounds like her throat got in a knife fight. :( Sorry, Janet.

  30. Free

Janet straight put it down on this album!

    ^^^^
Well said. This is a very good CD. I am a fan but I can admit that Damita Jo and 20 YO lacked something. This one is easily her best work since All For You.

  32. I wish JJ luck with this CD
    “Feedback” is my workout song!

  33. pathfinda

    .. hot…

Loved every track…looking forward to buying my copy new week.

  34. Fantasy

Wow, I’m not even a Janet Jackson fan, my girl is Mimi, but this cd is very good, I’m shocked!

  35. shawn

    @8baller
What the hell were you listening to? None of the songs sound alike and she talks about sex on 3 songs.. How do you go from house music, to club music, to euro pop, to ballads and r&b and sound the same?

Stop hating, it’s not a good look

  36. Kadence

Janet is hot! her ability to release a new cd is very much appreciated
Why do so many have to hate on a talented African American. At 8 and 23, I am sure you all are not in the studio cutting an album and even if you HAD the opportunity, Janet’s creativity will surpass yours and many others without a question.
Instead of hating on her, be happy to see another Black individual release a album thats not about guns, violence, money and other nonsense.
If you don’t like the album, then create a sensible arguement instead of bad-mouthing her!

  37. The King of Meats

Can you ever get tired of seeing Janet???

  38. Allison

I’m in my 30′s so I was around for Janet’s heyday, but I have never been a fan of hers and I have never purchased a CD. She always puts on an excellent show but her music is garbage. She can’t sing folks. She’s no better than any of these other “no-singing” chicks just because she’s been in the game forever. Some of you are as bad as the Beyonce stans who can’t stand to hear anybody disagree with their hero. I listened to these songs and they’re just as bad as anything else she ever put out.

  39. Discipline

I’m a fan and i give the album 3.5 stars/5. It worthy of being picked up on Itunes and your local store. People saying that Janet is losing it i find the opposite i find that she lost “it” already and she’s slowly gaining it back. The mid-tempo tracks like Can’t B Good and What’s Ur Name along with Feedback and Luv are classic Janet. she took a chance with so much betta and that came out out. The vocals are weak at some points and that’s not because Janet can’t sing it’s because she’s got lazy because she has nothing to prove anymore. Making these albums are just fun for her now, she already been where all the other R&B/pop chicks have been and right now she is just enjoying it. This who making album’s business is really for the fans.

  40. The King of Meats

    42. Allison, you said it!

I think she got her fan base, because she had no competion bac in the day! All the other great singers were overweight or too fugly to give concerts! Plus, she was Micheal’s sister. She has always been over-exposed! Stuff like 200,000 copies sold before the CD even drop! Or, one good song on a 16 track joint! Her overseas market was gifted to her by Michael and the Jackson 5! Oh, and don’t forget, she had Jam and Lewis writing for her and mixing her on state of the art systems! She’s one voice shy of Beyonce’.

  41. GreatestLoveOfAll

@Alison, Madonna is not a great singer either, but shes one of the biggest female singers of our generation. A voice doesnt mean shit if u dont know how to make good songs. No-one says that stuff about Madonna, but when Janet’s around some people always gotta say she can’t. It doesnt make sense.

Please dont bring Beyonce into this–I love them both, but her and Janet r 2 different types of artists.

Anyway, Discipline is her best work since The Velvet Rope. She hasnt sold cause the RACIST HYPOCRITICAL media made a big deal about the whole Superbowl incident. How come when Britney and Madonna kissed at the MTV Awards one yr, no-one said anything and their long-term sales weren’t affected??!! Christina Aguilera became a BIGGER name after she went all raunchy with that Stripped album, no-one said to boycott her. It is just media induced spin and prejudice.

  42. I see the haters are online..To bad that these new artists want have a 11 albums career.

  43. B

    I’ve listened to this album…

And honestly, there is not one bad song on it.

I will be getting the cd.

  44. shawn

    @Allison
IF you’re in your 30′s and you never been a fan, why waste your time and listen to the album? That makes no sense at all.

  45. shawn

    @The King of Meats
If you knew anything about Janet you would know that she does write, co produce, arrange, compose, executive producer, and does all her own background vocals.
Please don’t mention shit about mike and jackson 5 giving her a pass, because you have her other family that didn’t make it….

  46. Step

I can’t wait to see the dancing associated with these songs! I love to see Janet dance and the choreography!

  47. Sharonda

Well here’s my opinion because I can do just that.

I’m been a Janet fan for some time. But this album doesn’t to it for me.I even listen to the whole thing twice since it leaked yesterday and I kindly deleted it because it didn’t really stick out to me.I don’t think the songs are that hot.The album to me is mediocrity, which is not bad. I prefer Janet ballads though.Good luck to Janet because I know she’ll do ok.Just not for “me” this time around.

  48. Nichole

I’m listening to the album now. I have been thus far impressed with what I’ve heard. The only song that I’m not feeling thus far is “The 1″ feat/Missy Elliot. Janet sounds really good on every last song thus far. I love how she’s bringing out her voice a bit more. Especially on the track “Rollercoaster”.

  49. The King of Meats

    49. shawn said: “…If you knew anything about Janet you would know that she does write, co produce, arrange, compose, executive producer, and does all her own background vocals.”

    ============================================================

Shawn, I can say the same thing about Biz Markie who wrote, co-produced, arranged, composed, did all -his own background vocals and executive produced, “You Got What I Need”, but does that make him “too legit to quit?” .

    Hell naw!

Why, even William Hung topped the charts with his smash hit, “She Bangs”!

Janet and Madonna are in the same boat with Rihanna…they all can’t sang, but are willing to strip down and flash the goods! They give good face!

  50. shawn

    @Sharonda
The people that don’t like the cd should take a lesson from you, you said you didn’t like it without bashing..

  51. DAYBREAKLOVE

DICSIPLINE is hot.. some of her best work! But for those of you who hate 20yo… I guess you just dont know whats good., cause thats janets best album ever!!

  52. MS. TRUTH

Have never been a serious fan of Janet. I do not have one of her albums in my 200+ CD collection. Not even a tape or a LP (blacktop). She whispers on everything and I cannot fork up $12 or $2.50 (bootleg) for that lack of vocal. I love music and she is good for a few tracks but not for my hard earned money.

    NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. Have Not Thought of a New User Name

I like this song but I am not a janet fan I like some of her music but never went out and purchased a cd ( people gave them to me as gifts and velvet rope was the…)lol

  54. RP

Her best album since “The Velvet Rope”. Seriously, J. is bringing the heat.

  55. Bvarney

the remix to feedback with ciara needs to be played that remix is fire
