Janet Jackson’s 11th studio album, Discipline has leaked and Janet fans across the net are raving. Within the past week, a few tracks have leaked and there have been mixed reviews from bloggers and media commentators alike. I, for one, am excited for Janet’s takeover Time Square week next week, as well as the much anticipate release of Discipline on the 26th of February. The Darkchild and D’Mile-produced “Feedback” has been doing great, gaining play on MTV, which Janet hasn’t had the support of the past few years. And she’s already lined up two other singles, “Rock With U” (a video is being shot) and “Luv.”
On Discipline, Janet takes us back and offers a flurry of interludes and musical transitions with a futuristic and conceptual spin. From what I’d gathered from my first couple listens of the album, it sounds like Janet is going back to basics. She has a slew of radio-friendly tracks from A-List producers, writers and a cool guest spot from Missy Elliott. Janet also gives you a few of her classic, airy ballads. Standout tracks for me include the dance single, “Feedback,” “Rollercoaster,” “Luv,” “The 1″ and I’m loving the Prince-inspired “So Much Betta.”
Discipline really is a cohesive effort to me. Even though she’s still whispering, I think Janet did her fans right by this album, especially after the upset of 20 Y.O.

This is a solid CD. Luv, Rollercoaster and Greatest Ex are fabulous tracks and Janet has delivered in a tough market what many thought she was unable to do. Janet’s vocals are not that of “belters” like Patti Labelle, Stephanie Mills or Celine (whose lip-synching at times has not gone unnoticed) , but her soft, sweet voice is hers and the one that has sold millions of albums over a 20-year span. Madonna is just as “gifted” a singer as Janet and , double standards being what they are, is much more rarely criticized for her vapid lyrics and stale vocals.

I am gonna save the suprise and wait to get my copy Tuesday. I have been hearing nothing but positive reviews for this album. I am PUMPED! And I agree with the people that say that the “Feedback” remix with Ciara should be played on the radio more often. That might help boost its radio spins.
I see you can’t seem to read all that well because whil the poster did say first artist she said POP artist other than Michael who was all R&B first but that really doesn’t matter becasue pop isn’t technically a genre, it stands for popular music.

As for competing she did with them and did it weel which is why Billboard named her second most successful artist after Mariah in the 90s and that’s with releasing only 3 albums while Mariah gave you one every year. Whitney came a close 4th in success for tha decade boo so if she wasn’t competing with them who was she competing with Mike? I love Janet’s yesterday’s dirty draws, but this album is awful. Erykah Badu is going to stomp her ass into the ground come 26 February.
I will get this cd when it drops Tuesday. People, why are you saying The Velvet Rope was her last “good” cd? Remember it was doing ok when it first came out but it took her second single to really jump start it’s sales. All for You did very well also. That sold over 3 million copies in the US alone. I liked Damita Jo and 20 Y.O. I still play those cd’s. If Janet wants to talk about sex….let her. If you all remember when she talked about sex on the Janet album people were telling her she was too young and innocent to do that. She is a grown woman. She is a sexual person so that comes across in her songs.

I just finished listening to the new cd, and there are some good moments on this cd. This cant be good, a neyo produced track is awesome. Reminds of micheal jackson’s I cant help it. Then tracks liek whats your name, are cool and The one and So much better is hot, very diffrent.
Now vocally, Janet does her norm on some tracks, she never been a powerhouse, in no means, but she has a sweet, piete melodic voice, which carries soul, but nto much range. I would never say she can not sing, becasue she can carry a tune, but she can not blow, we all know that, but we dont liek Janet because of that its in her presentation of the total product.
In closing, this woman has sold over 100 million albums , 5 grammys, 10 American music awards, and 10 number one singles. you dont do that without some form of talent, wherther its marketing or product, but I am doubtfull if she will ever reach where she once was supeeriror, I was disappointed with the moon video, Janet ideas are old school and she is local to her gill, she needs to revamp it all, Feeback could have really been a hot single if she woudl have markteted it with a simpel video. Dude, listen to the actual CD! The leak on the internet of the album (had it a week ago) does it good, but it is no where near the albums awesomeness! LUV, 2Nite, The1, Rollercoaster, Never Letchu Go, are all awesome songs. Feedback is fricking sweet as heck, and it has begun to creep up them charts some more. My personal favorite has got to be Greatest Ex. It is something I can truly relate to. Janet, your fans thank you for another Over the top awesome CD.

As for the comment made about vocal ability, he or she is definitely on point…i.e.TLC was the biggest selling female group of all time, who was dethroned by Destiny Child, which in my opinion never would have happened had the group not disbanded, aside from the fact Left-Eye died…TLC’s vocal weren’t that strong but they had a little of this and little of that, meaning that they could sing a little, dance little, great producers and had a nice swagger and they were all beautiful!
