Since someone leaked the album this week, I already got a bootleg copy(yall know I wasnt going to purchase this foolishness). After listening to it, all the tracks sound like one long ass song. If you it wasnt for the interludes I would think I was listening to the same song over and over. She over used the topic of “sex”. I think there is much more to talk about at age 41.

“Rollercoaster” is the only song I even remotely liked.

She could have kept this. Children I highly disappointed. Its a FLOP waiting to happen.

I’m in my 30’s so I was around for Janet’s heyday, but I have never been a fan of hers and I have never purchased a CD. She always puts on an excellent show but her music is garbage. She can’t sing folks. She’s no better than any of these other “no-singing” chicks just because she’s been in the game forever. Some of you are as bad as the Beyonce stans who can’t stand to hear anybody disagree with their hero. I listened to these songs and they’re just as bad as anything else she ever put out.

I’m a fan and i give the album 3.5 stars/5. It worthy of being picked up on Itunes and your local store. People saying that Janet is losing it i find the opposite i find that she lost “it” already and she’s slowly gaining it back. The mid-tempo tracks like Can’t B Good and What’s Ur Name along with Feedback and Luv are classic Janet. she took a chance with so much betta and that came out out. The vocals are weak at some points and that’s not because Janet can’t sing it’s because she’s got lazy because she has nothing to prove anymore. Making these albums are just fun for her now, she already been where all the other R&B/pop chicks have been and right now she is just enjoying it. This who making album’s business is really for the fans.

@Alison, Madonna is not a great singer either, but shes one of the biggest female singers of our generation. A voice doesnt mean shit if u dont know how to make good songs. No-one says that stuff about Madonna, but when Janet’s around some people always gotta say she can’t. It doesnt make sense.

Anyway, Discipline is her best work since The Velvet Rope. She hasnt sold cause the RACIST HYPOCRITICAL media made a big deal about the whole Superbowl incident. I’m been a Janet fan for some time.But this album doesn’t to it for me.I even listen to the whole thing twice since it leaked yesterday and I kindly deleted it because it didn’t really stick out to me.I don’t think the songs are that hot.The album to me is mediocrity, which is not bad. I prefer Janet ballads though.Good luck to Janet because I know she’ll do ok.Just not for “me” this time around.

I’m listening to the album now. I have been thus far impressed with what I’ve heard. The only song that I’m not feeling thus far is “The 1″ feat/Missy Elliot. Janet sounds really good on every last song thus far. I love how she’s bringing out her voice a bit more. Especially on the track “Rollercoaster”.

I broke it down to let you know that janet just doesn’t get handed a track to sing (this is the first time) unlike a whitney that CAN sing (not saying janet can’t) but can’t write a song to save her life.

To Shawn at #48…I listened to the music because I wanted to hear it before I formed an opinion. I’m not going to critique anything that I haven’t actually heard (WHICH WOULDN’T MAKE SENSE). There are a few singers out there that I didn’t use to be a fan of, but now they put out some material that I enjoy. We can debate all day long, but the bottom line is to each their own. If you like the record buy it, I’m not going to, but that doesn’t make me a hater.

The album is good. I would give it a B. The best tracks are Curtains, Rollercoaster, 2nite, Luv, Can’t B Good, Never Letchu Go, and Whats Ur Name. The weakest tracks are RWU, The 1, and So Much Betta. Decent tracks are Discipline and Greatest X. Good job, J!

Now this makes me even more excited for Mariah’s album. I’ll be buying both!

It may not have made you a fan but it made you at the very least tap your feet or nod your head. It took two weeks to reach #1 and in my opinion it is one of Jimmy, Terry, and Janet’s best collabos. U nailed it on the head right there!! I mean if it was a mere ‘pass’ where are LaToya and Rebbie’s careers?? Janet inspired a generation of these young female singers/dancers/entertainers. You dont NEED to have an Aretha Franklin voice if u can still make GREAT MUSIC. It hasn’t stopped Madonna now, has it? Control, Rhythm Nation 1814, janet, The Velvet Rope are some of the most iconic records ever. Each versatile and multi-faceted showing a new side of Janet, each time.

Sure Janet’s quality of records have slipped in this decade, but Discipline should be the album which 20 YO failed to be two years ago. It just needs strong backing and hard work by Janet, her management and label.

Janet’s last solid selling CD was in 1998 (velvet rope) So basically her best years were from 1986-1998. She has had a great 12yr run. It’ s time to end it. She was put on a pedistol because Janet was the first dance artist. There were other good dancers but they could also sing. Without dance, Janet would not have had a career. She can’t sing. You can’t understand what she is saying. It’s time for her to step aside. How many more years will she try dancing across the stage. Did anyone else notice how the dance moves in Disipline are very simple and easy to do. She is not even ripping up th dance floor anymore.

This is a solid CD. Luv, Rollercoaster and Greatest Ex are fabulous tracks and Janet has delivered in a tough market what many thought she was unable to do. Janet’s vocals are not that of “belters” like Patti Labelle, Stephanie Mills or Celine (whose lip-synching at times has not gone unnoticed) , but her soft, sweet voice is hers and the one that has sold millions of albums over a 20-year span. Madonna is just as “gifted” a singer as Janet and , double standards being what they are, is much more rarely criticized for her vapid lyrics and stale vocals.

I am gonna save the suprise and wait to get my copy Tuesday. I have been hearing nothing but positive reviews for this album. I am PUMPED! And I agree with the people that say that the “Feedback” remix with Ciara should be played on the radio more often. That might help boost its radio spins.

I just finished listening to the new cd, and there are some good moments on this cd. This cant be good, a neyo produced track is awesome. Reminds of micheal jackson’s I cant help it. Then tracks liek whats your name, are cool and The one and So much better is hot, very diffrent.

Now vocally, Janet does her norm on some tracks, she never been a powerhouse, in no means, but she has a sweet, piete melodic voice, which carries soul, but nto much range. I would never say she can not sing, becasue she can carry a tune, but she can not blow, we all know that, but we dont liek Janet because of that its in her presentation of the total product.
