Janet Jackson has revealed her family was nearly ripped apart after her dad Joe secretly fathered a love child with a fan. Janet confessed in her recent interview with Parade Magazine that while she has also been cheated on ‘a lot’ by ex boyfriends, she cannot even begin to know what her father’s betrayal was like for her mother Katherine. i love janet she is definetly one of the best in this buisness. i think everyone can relate to her on so many levels, because she’s just so real. she’s also very beautiful inside and out…but i saw an few interviews mainly on tyra and oprah and at the time she didn’t feel it herself. i hope she does now.

Joseph was a terrible father, don’t mean to be judgmental, but look at what he did, what he’s done. He got his family out of the poor, small one bedroom home, and helped get them where they eventually would be the best selling most successful family in music of all time, but he really was the worst..and it took a toll on everyone. On Joe’s part, I believe that it’s due to the fact that he lived vicariously through his children. He made them strive for the fame that he didn’t have (with the Falcons or as a boxer), and when the Jackson 5 got that fame, there was probably envy involved, you know, he attempted to go that route but then, all of a sudden, Katharine kept getting pregnant, and the dream was railroaded because he had to take care of them. In the end, he ended up emotionally alienating his children. Compared to his children with Katharine, it’s like he treated Joh’Vonnie like the daughter he never had, from what is speculated. If that’s true, then their sentiments are highly warranted and, to be honest, expected. Knowing that your father is giving another child the treatment that you’ve always wanted but never gotten from him has to just hurt like hell.
It doesn’t surprise me he slept with a Jackson 5 fan. That makes his cheating all the more worst and awful. Just disrespectful and tacky. If I’m right, he would sleep with groupies too, it wasn’t only the brothers (who would have sex in the same room as little Michael & they told him pretend to be sleeping and not move no matter what). If a few fans wanted to meet J5, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to do him a few “favors” first, so they could. Disgusting. Anyway, you never really heard any of them speak about his infidelity and abuse besides Katherine and Michael. Its nice to see Janet express herself thoroughly again. I’m not sure if Discipline will be much like The Velvet Rope (best album, IMO) but if its resembles anything like it in such a way with its own identity, I’m sure to love it.

Janet has talent, but she has not kept up with the times. Her sound has not changed since the 80′s and that is why her music does not sell like it did in the past. Your sound has to change with the times or you will literally be left behind. I personally think she should concentrate on acting because that is what she is better at these days. As far as her looks go, she is still beautiful. She would be beautiful if she hadn’t had cosmetic surgery.
One thing I can always appreciate about Janet is her ability to transform and to morph into who she wants to be AT THAT MOMENT. She’s done that again here….she looks NOTHING like the Doctor she played in Tyler Perry’s, “Why Did I get Married.”

Janet and Mike are innovators and get nothing but my respect. they may have had plastic surgery along with a long list of other celebs. That doesn’t negate their talent.
they had money to change their insecurity that I think others would too if they had the money. Janets damn Daddy made her get a nose job at 14. he teased, beat and tormented his kids calling Mike an ugly big nose. The man though he was ugly when he wasn’t. Joh’Vonnie looks like a Mexican Janet. She is very pretty and didn’t get the abuse as the others did. Her nose job, implants have nothing to do with her talent. she’s beautiful regardless
Janet music has changed through the years. Some people complain it sounds too different and thats why its not selling as much. I think the singles aren’t being picked correctly. She actually had good songs on both of her last records.

I love Janet no matter what. We all have experiences in our lives that shape our thinking and our own journey in life, why get mad at her for recognizing those things in her own life. Neither Janet nor any of her siblings are at fault for whatever dysfunction their parents displayed when they were growing up. That is on Joseph and Catherine. It is hard enough for children to grow up in abusive families. The simple fact that Janet isn’t stark raving insane–like her brother appears to be, is a credit to her strength.
As for the comments regarding her plastic surgery–I am a radical pro-black beauty type–chocolate skinned–dreadlocks the whole nine– I love my cute curvy African nose and full lips and would love to see all sisters feel the same way, but I am also realistic and reasonable enough to realize that black women have things like nose jobs done because this society teaches them from the moment they are old enough to see–that white is beautiful and black is ugly.
Those of you on here who have something negative to say about any of those women who had nose jobs, should check your own beliefs and actions and make sure that before you throw stones, you aren’t guilty of perpetuating the “everything white is beautiful” myth in your own life. Because if you are—you should really just hush and stop being so hard on those women because they are trying to please people like you–who secretly think white is better. For instance, if you instantly see Alicia Keys or Beyonce as beautiful–but believe that Serena Williams or Jennifer Hudson are ugly or “just alright”…you just might be guilty of a bit of self hatred of your own. Sweep around your own front doors before you try to sweep around everyone elses.

Yeah, she talks about her Dad all the time since she did Control. Which she really have a right too. But most people dont realize why the act and feel like they do because the have blocked-out some of the things that have happened to them when they was a child. Janet came to realize what type of father Joe was when she was 17. She expressed it in her first album. So I really don’t know why she is talkin about her DAD again. She need to go see a therapist and talk to extent about this cause its still on her mind. Which I find odd being she has been married twice before. But its really concerns me as to how she always throw her Dad under the bus and not Michael. They never really talk about Michael, except to LaToya. When she was going to put out that book everyone stopped her. Now that Janet is coming out with a new cd, she feels she has the right to do it now. What’s the difference?

Janet looks GORGEOUS and there is a DISTINCT difference in what she did and what Vivica, Lil Kim and others did. SHE fixed her nose – but she still looks like an EARTHLING to me, which is more than I can say for many in Hollywood.
Problem is, when she looks “old” they talk about how bad she looks, when she looks young, they talk about her plastic surgery. You can’t win for losing with some people. Those kids didn’t get beat they got their ass whipped. There is a different. That is what’s wrong with alot of these kids now. They don’t get any discipline and so they got out here and get in trouble because no one taught them that there are consequences for their actions.
Also there is nothing wrong with getting a nose job. Hell if I could afford it I would have one. That does not mean that you don’t love yourself as a black woman it just means that you see room for improvement. It is so unfair everytime a black woman wants to change something about herself she is trying not to be who she is. You are being who you are and if you want to make a minor change to yourself there is nothing wrong with that.

there is nothing wrong with getting plastic surgery. I agree with the person who made the comment earlier that the same people who criticize Janet for getting a nose job, think Alicia Keys and Beyonce are the most beautiful women on the planet, but a person with more afrocentric features is considered not as attractive. women who are mixed get more attention then the non-mixed black women in the media everyday life. i think that if there is something you want to change and you can afford it but not go to the extreme, then why not. you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. everyone should learn to love what you are born with, but society and even your own people make it hard to embrace your afrocentric features when they constantly talk about nappy vs. good hair or a big nose. as long as you are happy who the hell really cares

@Morning Wood, give me a damn break Janet has had that same since she was about 16 or 18 yrs old. It’s funny how people say “I wish her well” and then proceed with the insults. You really want to say all negative things but don’t want to be perceived as a hater. Janet is just as good as everyone else. She actually pioneered what a lot of people do today. If you like someone better, that’s fine. People buy good music. Weaves, surgery, and dysfunction are insignificant. Most celebrities have altered their look….that’s why we have something called “celebrity make over”.
What’s fake, what’s real? Just about everyone profiled and mentioned on this blog is fake. I never see anyone shouting out India Arie, myself included. Most black americans have adopted euro habits. It’s been that way for YEARS.

You know, with all the hate that Janet gets, one would think she has only a quarter of the talent she clearly has, has had only a quarter of the success that she’s had, and that she is known by people in the industry to be a stuck-up #itch, which is the opposite of what everyone who meets her or works with her says. So why all the hate? It’s sad really…
I never knew papa Joe had another child. I knew he had a mistress and that Janet and her brother assaulted the woman but this is news to me. I wonder where the other sibling is. Her talking about being cheated on just shows that it can happen to anyone. What I really would like to hear is Janet speak honestly about her secret child that’s not really a secret.
