hmmmm i don’t find leona attractive at alll….. she got a great voice though!!

  2. Pretty Ricky

I think she’s gorgeous and I love her voice. I think the album would have been better if Clive Davis wasn’t trying to create Whitney v2.0, but I am still happy for her success. Hopefully with her next album she’ll break out of the box and won’t let her record company push her around so much.

  3. nailcandy

i love her music!!!… just amazing!!!

  4. keROWROW

She seems to have a sweet beautiful spirit and great voice. Old Whitney Mariah like vocals with more clarity.

  5. Wow, she really does have a beautiful voice!

  6. Devon

I’m from the U.K and wast to know why you give Leona so much attention, is Clive Davis sponsoring this website ? she can sing but the album is such a bore! We have man U.K artists apart from Leona and Estelle… check em out!
Charlee… everything isn’t about attraction, thats why the music industry id filled with such talentless people.

  7. FLYGIRL

I love Bleeding Love.. I like her voice too…

  8. hood_shit

She’s really pretty and had a really big voice. She seems like the type of artist that Simon Cowell would love. Is she affiliated with him?

  9. Twintron4

I don’t know but that little girl is a cutie!

  10. beautiful and she has an awesome voice and music. A young Mariah in her early days. She is the real deal.

  11. nate

this does sound like a old whitney song. one moment in time or something . clive is always looking for a new whitney. aint gonna find it.

  12. KC

The song has a nice message but her album is a straight snooze. She has a nice voice but the music is too outdated for me. Best of luck to her though.

  13. DRB

She has a great voice, but I can’t be a fan b/c they insist on making her the next Mariah & Whitney. I heard the music she did before X Factor, and it was her own sound and very fresh. Also. she wrote everything. Now she has lost her sound and picked up 2 other peoples and she hardly writes on her album. She lost her artistry. Her album is bland b/c its outdated, rehashed, and has no personality.

  14. Tina4rmN.Oeast

That little girl is sooooo cute. Her skin is so beautiful!

  15. Abigail_London_Girl

II totally agree with no. 14 I heard some of her stuff b4 X-Factor and it was brillant she was on her grind really trying 2 get in 2 the industry even though i love her voice i knew her winner x-factor would do this 2 her i have her album and like many are saying it is bland all teh songs sound 2 similar and outdated I hope she has more input in her next album!

  16. soulcrew70

this pictuere isnt the best, but would you being in the middle of africa with no entourage around you? lets get one thing straight, GIRL CAN SING, and not one person has mentioned what cause the song is for…..!!!!! doing more than most artists ever do, support sport relief.

  17. dctrinigyal

THAT LIL GIRL IS SO PRECIOUS

  18. Jemmy

No doubt, Leona is a fantastic singer and I think this album will sell millions. I have to say that the first time I heard ‘Footprints In The Sand’ I was blown away not only by the lyrics which are fantastic, but by the sheer power of her voice and the way she put her soul into that song. Ya, she deserves this big honor, it is really a fantastic album:

smh @ the majority of comments above (especially number 1). First and foremost comes this worthy cause that Leona is supporting. People are so obsessed over the deaths of celebrities yet can’t even be bothered to comment on let alone support the millions who are dying slowly in destitute countries and hopeless situations (that little girl with Leona is terminally ill with AIDS). smdh. So get out of this riddiculous ghetto mentality and looking for who has the best lacefront, wig etc and start focussing on what really matters in this world.

And yes her music is currently highly manufactured but so was the first music of most of the biggest stars (WHITNEY, Christina, Britney, Celine, Madonna and even Mariah didn’t have as much influence over the direction of her sound to begin with). Leona is just grateful to be let in the industry. I’m sure like most of the above (excluding Britney and Whitney) she will start to take more artist control later on in her career. But the key thing we should recognize is that at lest this girl has singing talent (unlike Ciara…..Rihanna…Cassie etc).

A BUNCH OF CRABS I TELL YOU

  20. natasha

chick got a great voice and the video’s ayt just had enough of people showing the negative images of africa that aint pretty…i should know am 1 but sh doin her thing

  21. La'shonda

AND big props to Angel for posting this. That’s the one thing I can always say about CL. Its blogging with a conscience! And they are always socially and culturally aware (but never indulging in trivial, ghetto topics eg.BOSSIP) lol

  22. SmEllyCaT

As a person of african decent I find these sort of things patronizing. The media only shows you the one-sided view of africans as poor, skinny, ugly, starving. But its a continent with so much more than these things.

Its good that this is for a good cause but it is patronizing and demeaning. Every year they do these things in England for like a month with celebs making videos for the cause but it never seems genuine to me.

Leona does have a great voice but she has no personality, personality makes you a star not just singing talent. Rihanna may not be the greatest singer in the world but she has plenty of personality, even crazy ass britney does and thats what makes us intrigued by them.

  23. soulcrew70

@smellycat for someone from the uk, you hate on everything thats UK? what other country sends millions to loads of countrys across the world, we be handing out money left right and centre! why you think the whole of eastern europe and beyond wants to come ere? patronizing and demeaning? you need to check yaself luv

  24. soulcrew70

and as for personality over talent? wtf?

  25. she she

that little black girl is so cute!!

  26. BEAUTY SCHOOL DROP OUT

first of all that little girl is too cute…anyway i dont know much about Leona so I decided to download a bunch of her songs…no doubt she has an amazzzzzzzzing voice but the songs were only okay to me…bleeding love is the only song i think is hot from her…hopefully she puts out some better stuff

  27. Nee-Nee

That little girl in the photo has me mesmirized she’s so damn cute,i love her eyes.

  28. The Wayno Show

Love her. Her music is cool, her voice is incredible and she’s gorgeous.

  29. I have yet to hear anything from Leona. BUT THAT LIL GIRL IS SOOOO FREAKIN’ BEAUTIFUL. KINDA REMINDS ME OF WHY I HAVE THIS AVATAR.

IT MAY LOOK ODD OR AWKWARD TO SOME, BUT TO SEE THIS PIECE OF ART UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL, IT IS BEAUTIFUL.

  30. RECKONE

That little gal is so pretty. Her skin is so beautiful as well as her eyes!

  31. ash

her voice is amazing she has real talent & when your talented like her u dont have to fall back on ur looks like say some less vocally talented like “Cassie”. but in my opinion i think Leona is a very attractive young lady.

  32. MISSY

U knoo,..im so fukeen tierd ov pplee trynaa mke Africa like its a countryy man !!..its a conteninet wiv gazilionz ov coutriess…ndd it IS NOT POOR..onli cirtain countriess are…even in Americaa..which dey sey is one ov da richest countiress has poor parts to it aswell…jus had to sey my piece !!! x

  33. Nope

I agree with the posts that say that she sounds like a young Mariah. Even Whitney 2.0. But, just as those two are icons, she will be. They had to pay their dues, just as Leona has to. If anyone remembers, Mariah’s first album, (although she did get writing creds) was mostly ballads, and HITS, without showing the world her tatas. And it sold well, because she s-a-n-g. Just like Whitney. No drama, just a beautiful voice. Leona is showcasing her talent, not her goodies, and hopefully people will respect that. Her music, although it may sound dated to some, is just what the industry needs. Not someone selling their bodies or their dancing abilities.

As far as “Footprints in the Sand” and the video, they are showing Africa in a negative light. But at least it’s being shown and not forgotten. Some of the other “artists” who gyrate across our televisions, are not singing about anything of substance. They are talking about whatever ridiculous thing that is popular at the moment, i.e. Hermes bags and six star pent suites (that don’t even exist).

  34. Caramel1908

I hear Smellycat’s point. While the song is beautiful, there is so much more to Africa than warfare and starving children. While those aspects definitely need exposure, I think its only fair to show other sides of it as well.

  35. a.k.a. new yorker

she may not be pretty but her voice is winning me over. i’m still not too much of a fan of her slow vibrato but her voice has improved a lot since the Xfactor. she sounds great on this track. no one can touch whitney though b/c whitney has one of the clearest voices ever. when she belted, you didn’t even hear the scratchiness of her voice like you do with most other female singers. that’s why i was always a whitney fan over mariah

anyway this is a good cause but i agree that africa (and basically all minority countries that are poor) is always being shown in a poor light. there’s a lot of poverty in other countries and though it may not be to the same extent, i think it’s interesting that only africa’s poverty is focused on

  36. la_verite

Oh that little chocolate girl is SOOOO cute!!!

  37. Loolii X

DA REASOn y pple focus on poverty in African is becos..da white mann wnts us to feel loww…dey wnt us to be proud americas nd nt wnt to sey we come from Africa which i fink is sad..beocs AFRIA is MUCH MRE beautiful dan america nd da carribean put togeva !!

  38. SEABREEZE(M.I.A)

I could snatch that little girl up! She’s so cute she makes my eyes water!

  39. I think this is a pretty song, but Leona is boring. This video looks like an advertisment for save the children.

  40. kdollaz

This was a poem at first of of my favorite poems called “Footprints” its a religious poem you can probably find it on globalgrind.

  41. a.k.a. new yorker

@Loolii X stop lying. there’s nothing like the caribbean! it’s like africa except tropical

oh and i forgot to add that the little girl is sooo beautiful

  42. Derick

They are really trying to make this chick a star, and I dont think it will be a possibility here in the US.

  43. oatsuzn

    little girl is a cutie.

  44. working.guh.

she sounds like early mariah and kelly clarkson… she is a bit boring but it nice to hear someone who can sing…

  45. working.guh.

  46. working.guh.

  47. lashonda

I like her voice and her face but it it me or does she kinda resemble a lion? lol Totally mean that as a compliment cause lions are beutiful creatures it’s just that she looks like a lioness.

  48. mariah

lleona is an amazing talent, and she is so gorgeous
i can’t wait for her US album to come out

  49. Lori

Nice song, sounds like Hero 2008.

  50. ThinkAboutIt

    Beautiful Song and Video….

  51. Torontonian

They both look gorgeous! But does anyone else find lewis DULL AND BORING yet has so much beauty and talent.

  52. ClaireyFairy

I read the lyrics and i heard its basied on the religious poem footprints which i actually love as a poem

havnt listen to the song yet…will do

  53. Mark

She can sing well, but it takes more than a ‘good voice’ to make a star. The biggest female stars fr Madonna to Whitney + even Amy Winehouse all have great charisma + people buy into their persona as well as their music. As sweet as Leona is, she lacks in this department. Simon Cowell IS her voice because lets face it, he knows she has no real personality. If the sound of your voice is the only interesting thing about you, your gona have problems, because there will always be someone better.

It’s the song that makes me feel the orphans,
the suffering buts that need to be bloomed.
    Actually LOVE is spontaneous.
LOVE cries for humanity, for making people HAPPY.
But our greed brings sorrow and suffering that covers
    Heavenly blue sky of happiness
