Amerie’s voice does sound strained but it’s perfect for her sound…it’s just that Beyonce parlayed it into “Crazy in Love” and that blew up and now everybody’s mind goes back to CIL whenever they hear anything GoGo. Too bad, too…The 80s are a mainstream undercurrent now, it would have been hot if Amerie could have kept her sound and done a sort of vintage disco record. I don’t think her voice sounds good on anything else…I loathe her on hooks…unfortunately, when Beyonce did that song in Amerie’s style, she officially ended Amerie’s career here.

If an artist is underage they should only be talking about so much. It’s not about holding back. They need to stay in their place and sing/rap about age appropriate topics.

The whole blaming the record company when things go wrong for the artist has gotton out of hand. Some times, it’s simply the case of the audience not being interested in what the artist has to offer.

Amerie should be interesting. I still prefer her around the way girl sound she had when she first came out, but change can be good. Jojo just doesnt do it for me. technically she can sing but her voice always sounds as if her nose is stuffy or as if she has a head cold. She was cute when she first came out, but now her talent isnt as gonna stand out considering she isnt 13 anymore. I mean I dont think she has improved since her debut.

@DIAMONDS&PEARLS i disagree about amerie. when amerie first came out “why don’t we fall in love” i remember thinking, “finally something original on the radio”. i’ve never heard go-go or been to d.c. so i don’t know what that whole go-go thing is about but i do know that she sounded original to me and she sounded real. her beats were different b/c the beat didn’t follow the pattern you expected it to. did u listen to her first album? you can’t tell me that it didn’t sound different than the other r&b chicks. the problem with amerie is she’s not really packageable. beyonce is very packageable. beyonce was able to work with amerie’s producer and make amerie’s style bankable, something that amerie herself couldn’t do. rihanna is another example of how things can be packaged. rihanna has changed her image substantially in 3 yrs. and i don’t believe any of them but the public buys it b/c she’s easy to manipulate and package. and ppl never bring up how riri has been a copycat her whole career yet ppl are so quick to pt. out when amerie copies bee, the woman who stole her sound anyway. it’s all about packaging, not originality or “being yourself”. if “being yourself” worked, more great artists would be recognized and sadly it’s not the case
