POLITICS: CLINTON/OBAMA BATTLE CONTINUES

(Photo: MSNBC)

Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are anxiously awaiting Tuesday evening, when one of them will receive a significant boost on behalf of voters in Hawaii and Wisconsin. With over 100 delegates at stake, the candidates hope that Tuesday’s events will give bring each of them closer to the victory they each want badly.

Monday morning, the Clinton campaign unveiled a new weapon: a 13-page pamphlet outlining her plans to fix the economy.

The pamphlet details Clinton’s plans for universal health care, a freeze on mortgage foreclosures and the creation of millions of “green-collar jobs” which involve environment-friendly products or services.

Partial clip of Obama’s speech – Feb. 16 in Milwaukee

Obama had no new weapon to mention, but did have to defend himself against plagiarism charges that words in a speech he made in Milwaukee on Saturday sounded identical to those of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick in 2006.

At a news conference, he said that while “I’m sure I should have” given Patrick credit, “I’ve written two books, wrote most of my speeches. Deval and I do trade ideas all the time. He’s occasionally used lines of mine, and I, at a Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Wisconsin, I used words of his.”

Clinton’s Wisconsin Ad

Obama also said he has noticed that Clinton “on occasion had used words of mine as well. …When Senator Clinton says it’s time to ‘turn the page’ in one of her stump speeches or that she’s ‘fired up’ and ‘ready to go,’ I don’t think that anybody suggests that somehow she’s not focused on the issues …”

Clinton blasted Obama for ducking her and when Obama wouldn’t agree to a debate, she launched a statewide television ad mentioning it.

Obama’s Wisconsin Ad

Obama fought back with an ad noting that “after 18 debates, with two more coming, Hillary says Barack Obama is ducking debates? It’s the same old politics, of phony charges and false attacks.”

Clinton and Obama are scheduled to debate in Texas Thursday night and again next week in Ohio; I wonder if these upcoming debates will be as cordial as the last one.

Something else I wonder: will Edwards endorse Obama?

And for anyone wondering, Sen. Mike Gravel vowed last week to stay in the presidential race until November.

Had Edwards endorsed Obama weeks ago, this thing might be all but wrapped up for the O-Man. I think Edwards will, and in turn I think Obama might just turn to Edwards as his running mate.

Edwards is a good man and politician, who’s cares most about poverty. He could be a great help to Obama, and a great successor in eight years.

    BTW, Hillary = afterthought.

Do you all know that this man will work his ass off to do everything he said he will do, because he has so much to prove to the world (black people and white people etc… that he can do the job. We need this win, our children need to know and WE need to know that an educated, experience BLACK man can become president. I hope and pray he goes all the way!!! OBAMA 08

  10. If Obama gets the nomination, the only way he wins the general election is if ( we)

I CRAM TO UNDERSTAND SOME OF THE DEFEATED MINDS ON THIS POST AND THE F*CKERY THAT COME FROM IT…(THE FOLKS CRITICIZING THE OBAMA STAN’S STANIZM)

WHEN YOU THINK LIKE THAT, W/ NOTHING FINALIZED YET, YOUR BASICALLY SAYING “I’M GIVING UP HOPE” OR “WHAT’S THE POINT OF THINKING,” YOU ALREADY HAVE GIVEN THE PRINCIPALITIES IN HIGH PLACES POWER TO CONTINUE TO STEAL, KILL, AND DESTROY…

ALSO IT’S QUITE INSULTING THAT YOUR NOT GIVING THE STANS THE CREDIT TO BE INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO KNOW THEMSELVES BETWEEN OBAMA AND SUPERMAN. YA DIG!

  14. CLEARMINDED

The Obama train keeps rolling on…WOOT WOOT!!!

Wisconsin was major — he ate into all her core demographics — my man rocked that state from one end to another. He is the hardest and smartest worker in this whole election season and he actually believes he should earn every single vote, not diss the citizens of certain states and say they don’t matter.

[sarcasm/] Not just us dumb black folks are voting for him anymore! [/sarcasm]

    OBAMA 08!!!!

    @ 66

I doubt she will bring it up. Its rumored alot of news sources know about the story but won’t, for whatever reason mention it. I just find it odd that today it was reported that McCain had an alleged affair although there is no proof. Well, this doesn’t have proof but I dont see this as “breaking news.” Double standard much

All OBAMA supporters like myself, need to go to his website, know what he promises to do for Americans, and to protect our country. READ about his plans for healthcare for those who cannot afford it. For education so that all Americas willreceive the best education so that they can compete with the rest of the world. READ about his plans for to protect Americans here in America. READ about his plans to bring soldiers home from Iraq, and to make sure that our military is the best so that America can be at the ready to protect, and fight terrorists. READ about his plans to make sure that all soldiers are given the best medical care, and benefits when they return home. READ about his plans to fund projects that will provide clean energy, so that we can reduce or dependency on oil, and at the same time protect our environment. READ about how he will clean up Washington so that it is not the lobbyist, and corporations who are setting the agenda for the American. He wants the government to return, to , and work for the people, not for big business.
READ about his plans to GIVE tax breaks to the poor Americas, RATHER than to rich millionaires, like the republicans would do. There is so much to KNOW about Obama, and his great plans for this great counrty.
PEOPLE GET TO KNOW OBAMA, AND LEARN THAT HE IS ALL ABOUT SUBSTANCE!!! HE IS A MAN WITH ALOT OF SUBSTANCE WHO CAN BRING ABOUT A VERY POSITIVE CHANGE TO WASHINGTON, FOR THE FUTURE, SO WE WILL HAVE PRESIDENTS IN OUR COUNRTY, WHO ARE FOCUSED ON THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY, INSTEAD OF LINING THEIR POCKETS, AND THEIR FRIENDS POCKETS.

What is your fear exactly, I ask those who don’t want this man to be president?! Is it that Obama has a black father, or is it that he has a last name different than yours, (by the way, it was a name he didn’t give himself, the name was given to him by his parents at birth, you know, just like your parents gave you yours!) So what is it you fear?! Is it that Obama is a Christian, and has been a Christian all his life, and has gone to the same Christian church for over 26 years. Is your fear that Obama was born in Hawaii, an American State, (and apart from going to an elementary school in another country for less than three years), has spent all of his life in America. Is it that he went to elementary school in America, then went to highschool in America, then went to Harvard University in America, graduated top of his class, and after graduation, went to work for a law firm located in America, before, he decided to run of public office, and was elected to the Illinois State Senate, in America, and served for 8 years. In those 8 years, his Americaness was not questioned, while he spent 8 years serving the people of Illinois. In 2004 Obama was elected to the US Senate, and has served as a Senator for the past 4 years, was his Americanness ever questioned then, as he was doing good work for the people of his State, of his country! Obama is as American as any American could be, he even chose to dedicate his life to serving the people of his country, something not many American choose to do. AND NOT ONCE during the time he was in the Illinois State Senate, OR the U.S State Senate was his Americanness being questioned, NOT ONCE during that time was his ability to serve the other American people, who elected him questioned. BUT NOW that the OBAMA wants to be the President of the United States, all of a sudden people are questioning whether he is American enough. This is such pathetic bullshit!!
If Obama was anything other than a great American he would never have been an elected offical in Illinois for 8 years, NOR would he have been a elected to U.S. Senate for 4 years.
People in this country need to take a look at the people who serve this great country, and realize that they are of all colors, not just white. We also have alot of other black Senators in this country, as a matter of fact there are also black congressmen, and women, and lets not forget the black mayors, who serve their country everyday. Would you also be suspicious of these black senators, and congressmen, and mayors, if they decided they wanted to be the president of the United States. Lets not forget the black men, and women who are soldiers, who serve their country, who risk thier lives everyday, fighting for their country. Would you have a problem if one of those black soldiers one day decided they wanted to be president. Would you be suspicious of them too, Are they not American enough, because they are black.
