POLITICS: TX DEMOCRATIC DEBATE RECAP
Friday, February 22, 2008

The last time Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama debated was before the Super Tuesday contests where both scored big in those races, splitting two dozen contests from coast to coast. However, Obama has enjoyed ten consecutive wins since Super Tuesday.
The last time the two debated, it was civil. This time, not so much.
After forty-five minutes of civility, things took a turn for the worse after Clinton stated “lifting whole passages from someone else’s speeches is not change you can believe in. It’s change you can Xerox.”
Obama responded to the plagiarism claim by saying that “the notion that [he] plagiarized from one of [his] national co-chairs, who gave [him] the line and encouraged [him] to use it, is silly.”
“If we don’t bring the country together, stop the endless bickering, actually focus on solutions and reduce that special interests that have dominated Washington … we will not get anything done,” Obama said.
For the most part, though, this debate only reiterates the similarities between the two, particularly on the issues of immigration reform, economic aid to struggling Americans and democracy in Cuba. They are not the only political dynamo duo being mentioned, though. A movement to draft Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has begun and she and Sen. John McCain are being mentioned as the Republican dream team.
Regarding the issue of the nomination coming down to superdelegates, Clinton responded:
“These are the rules that are followed, and you know, I think that it will sort itself out. I’m not worried about that. We will have a nominee, and we will have a unified Democratic Party, and we will go on to victory in November.”
Obama added:
Well, I think it is important, given how hard Senator Clinton and I have been working, that these primaries and caucuses count for something. And so my belief is that the will of the voters, expressed in this long election process, is what ultimately will determine who our next nominee is going to be. But understand what I think is most important to the voters, and that is that we have a government that is listening to them again. They feel as if they’ve been shut out.
Speaking of which, Color of Change, which exists to strengthen Black America’s political voice, has created a petition calling on Black Congressional leaders to use their “superdelegate” status to amplify the will of the voters.
Clinton faces an uphill battle since she’s endured loss after loss after loss (plus seven). Additionally, Obama raised much more money than Clinton (and McCain) last month.
According to CNN, even Bill Clinton admitted that his wife must win in Texas and Ohio. Those states, along with Rhode Island and Vermont, hold their primaries on March 4.

Damn, this is the most important election (in my opinion) that this country has ever experienced and we have no comments. Come on people! We need to know and UNDERSTAND what’s going on or we are going to find ourselves in the same situation we have been in for the past…………………..forever.

It’s so funny how she is losing so bad that she has to catch him on one mistake, and then got to have a debate, because she made up a good quote which I liked! But this was just like the war very senseless.

about this “experience” nonsense
It bothers me that Hillary keeps mentioning experience, when she hasn’t been in elected office as long as Barack….spending most of her political career as a First Lady in Arkansas and in the White House is not a good qualification for President.
Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, and I will freely admit that i’m wrong if I am, but hasn’t Barack been a Senator longer than Hillary? I’m going to check on that as soon as I get a free minute at work
I’m doing my extensive research before I cast my vote! this ish is important!!!

It really is a shame the hell this woman is being put through. That’s why I admire her more. A strong woman like her scares a lot of people, but that is what’s this country needs right now a strong leader like Hillary. My thing with Obama supporters, they don’t want to hear nothing unless you are praising that man like he is some god. That is one thing that turned me off from him his supporters. In that debate last night it showed AGAIN who really knows their stuff and who will get the job done. But, Hillary is a fighter and she will press on. I think that is America lets her slip through our fingers this will be the biggest mistake this country has made. Well wait a minute, we did it TWICE with Bush, so it will just be another mistake to add to the pile.

I think the debate was a draw. I don’t think anybody lost or gained any supporters. It was boring, but I wasn’t expecting much this is the 19th debate what else can be said. This really is Barack’s election Hillary is the one out of money and loosing support so she needed the debate more than he did I think he should just stick to meeting the voters instead of debating her.

Tsk…Tsk… Hillary. Shame on you for bringing up the plagiarism nonsense. It was discussed two weeks ago and you are still bringing it up again. Its a lame back stabbing technique that did not work. Hillary actually got booed. Those undermining tactics are not going to help you win Texas. It really made her look like the bad guy. She tries to embarrass this gentleman by stating false accusations. She knows she is washed up and about to be hung dried. This is why she is so angry. She has shown her true colors. She would never be Vice President. I think Obama are leaning towards Edwards as a running mate or Collin Powell. On the flip side of things, The Republicans are going to use Condelesca Rice as V.P w/ McCain. This sounds like a Willie Lynch situation to me. For those that are not familiar with Willie Lynch please Goolgle it. It pertains to getting blacks against each other so the white man can gain control of a situation. This is what it sounds like to me if Condelesca become the Vice President elect….

I thought it was a bit funny. One of the funniest moments was when one of the commentators asked her how do she think the public will react if she wins the election because of the superdelegates?..hahaha she tried to completely ignore the question by answering it with some nonscense. Then she felt dumb when she made that xerox comment and the audience booed her. Let’s go Obama get Texas then it’s over…nomore silly politics as he said.

Condileeza Rice running for VP? Now she’s a good example of why I wouldn’t vote for someone just because they’re Black. She’s a smart woman but she is not in touch with our community or being Black and she would rather ride Bush.
Interesting that the first viable Black candidate it really changing the dynamics of politics so much so that the Republicans are really considering a Black female VP. Like I’ve been saying, the only way for Blacks to really get a foothold in this government is to be present in all parties.

Hillary once again proved in last night’s debate that she is the one and only best candidate for president!
I can guarantee that if she wins Texas, it will be the biggest “conspiracy” in America in some of you guys eyes (which is clearly ridiculous)! She clearly states the facts, has her plans well written and stated, knows what she’s talking about, and shows up and shows out on Senator Obama’s ass everytime! Hillary has been through struggle after struggle throughout this entire nomination process (she’s been called a racist, so-called evil, booed twice during debates, and recieves no love from the majority of the black community (talk about a backlash). Clinton is truely the underdog and the best candidate for president …..so how would it be a conspiracy factor if she wins the nomination? Obama gets all the love that one could ever ask for, he recieves numerous amounts of praises and accolades, people bite your head off if anything is said about him that is not of praise, you guys treat this man like he’s a God……i don’t trust him, he has no plans to back up his words, he backtracks, and yells change every chance he gets without explaining his PLANS to CHANGE! If Obama wins the nomination…….i’m not voting for anyone!
Obama has already proven he is watered down and luke-warm…….Voting “present” in Congress and the House because he has no voice about real issues at hand! I’m sorry, but you have to stand for something or you’ll fall for nothing! This proves he’s no leader…….Let’s wake up my people!
HILLARY CLINTON ALL THE WAY…….( although I feel she may drop-out if she loses Texas, but it’s all good)! We as American’s will have to deal with the mistakes we cast upon ourselves!
BTW…..Obama’s wife stated, “This is the first time in my life that i’m proud of the country”…….Why is this lol? Because her husband is running for office? All these year’s have passed and you’ve “never” been proud? She’s full of it just like he is LOL!

You just said everything I been saying for MONTHS. And you know what’s funny, I was watching MSNBC this morning and they were even saying that in some of this primaries and caucuses that some of the republicans that are anti-Hillary are cross voting to make sure she doesn’t get the nod. And a lot of Obama supporters do not want to see that but it’s true. A lot of them Republicans are cross voting to just go back to their party come the general election. It’s not they are voting for Obama cause they like him and want him to win, it’s because they hate Hillary with a passion and know they will have a fight on their hands with her. I just wish people would really see what’s going before it’s too late.

For anyone who has followed these primaries closely u know that as far as policy goes clinton and obama have very similar opinions on almost all the issues. so then it comes down to who does a voter prefer. the only thing that annoys the hell out of me is hilliary belief that she is somehow more qualified and experienced than obama. hillary was elected to the US senate in 2000 before that she never held any political office and i don’t count sleeping with the governor or the president as political experience. barack joined the Illinois senate in 1997 and the US senate in 2003 so as far as PERSONAL experience goes they are equally yolked. the bottom line is it’s going to boil down to who do u like more cause either would be better than the alternative.

I live in the south and I have seen recent polls in GA and AL two states he won, but they are red states in the general election and will remain that. The Republicans are going to get the last laugh again which is sad very sad, but I see it happening again.

Honestly, I’m not 100% for either one of them. I’m still researching and seeing each candidates position on certain things. I do notice that Obama seems to be a favorite but I can’t help but feel most black people just want to see a black person in the white house. He gives phenomenal speeches, but is that enough? You have to respect Clinton too but can she lead this country? I don’t know it just seems like everybody is just telling you what you want to hear, but I guess thats what they are supposed to do.

I have been following the campaigns of both candidates and while i do agree that it might be damn near impossible for Barack to win against McCain, Hillary isn’t going to do much better. I love both of these candidates for what I perceive as intelligence, humility, poise and the ability to lead. They are pretty comparable when it comes to their views on the issues, although plans for what to do about these issues would be nice from Obama. But it is Hillary’s demeanor as of late that is off-putting. She is coming across as shrill, where Barack is confident and warm. She represents the old-guard, him something fresh and different. In reality, none of the candidates will be able to clean up the messes that proceed them completely, but they can point the country in the right direction. I honestly feel like both are qualified and ready for the job. And I think it is generalizing and sad that people are just assuming that most black people are voting for Barack b/c he’s black. That’s like saying most women would vote for Hilary because she’s a woman and McCain because he’s white. Yes, in alot of cases this is true. But there are a lot of people who really believe that Barack is an opportunity to move beyond the stigma that has dogged American politics for so long— same ole same ole. I am leaning towards Obama, but haven’t made up my mind completely as i believe in both candidates. I am just having a problem with the way Hillary is ACTING.

I respect you opinion. But you will see exactly what I am talking about if he gets the nod. Republicans are cross voting and honestly all this “inspiration” is so tired and played. I live in Alabama and this past Sunday in the paper they had a poll showing McCain beating Obama/Clinton by like 20+ points in the general election. The south for sure is Red territory except FL which is a swing state and with the way the Dems are treating them, they might swing GOP. You have to be realistic and look at it from all sides. These southern baptist down here are going to go for Obama nor Clinton, not happening. That goes for SC, GA, MS, TX, LA, and others. And the midwest states. He won’t win a general election
Side note: God bless the woman officer killed in a crash in the Clinton motorcade in Dallas, really sad and tragic.

Yeah I noticed the lack of comments too..but hopefully there will be more comments on this topic as the day goes on…because I would love to see the opinions that everyone has regarding this debate. Its a shame we can debate back and forth about who had Rihanna’s short hairstyle first or how many times Gabrielle Union is spotted at a party, but when it comes down to issues that are WAY more important, some of us show no interest.
Hopefully the candidates will continue to stay focused on the real issues at hand because at the end of the day we have families out here that are struggling and we’ve spent enough money on a war that no one really seems to know the real purpose of. So we will see who really votes for who when its time to vote in November.

I agree #38……Whenever Obama says anything demeaning about Hillary, he receives rants, raves, cheers, and accolades….but when she speaks on him, all she gets in return are boo’s, she’s prejudice, and evil-spirited, (which the Republican Party and John Mccain supporters love)…..i just don’t understand it!
It’s funny how the Republican Party has set the Democratic Party up for failure lol….They’re voting for Obama because they HATE HILLARY with a deep passion (they already have Mccain’s nomination on lock for the Republican Party), but like you’ve stated, and this is something i’ve said before…..at the end of the day in November, they will ALL be voting John Mccain, and he will be our next republican president (mark my words)……I was hoping some people would come to their senses and see this, but i guess not (some folks just don’t understand politics lol)! If you think Obama is getting 10 feet in front of the White House, then you have another think coming. That’s with or without the nomination……The only chance he has in the White House is if he runs with Hillary as her vice-president (she knows this and that’s why she’s not stressing), but his ego is to the heavens right now, so their is no chance in hell he would ever do that! The Republican’s know Hillary will mop the floor with Mccain’s ass (that’s why they’re voting Obama for the nomination, and will demolish him in the end)…….Hillary has always been a threat to Mccain and the Republican Party, and they’re going to no end to stop her from getting the nomination……..YALL BETTA WAKE UP and learn how politics work!!

I have to agree with #38 to an extent. I didn’t happen to see any reports about the GOP switching parties, but when I saw Obama winning red states I kind of knew what was going on. That’s why I feel as though all democrats and middel class need to come together and vote democrat in the general election. Because these Republicans will go to any extent to get Hillary out the picture and go right back to their party in November. As far as who I am endorsing I have to go with Obama. For many reasons but one of my main concerns is Hillary’s polorizing position. I think she will get in the White House and won’t get much accomplished because so many will be against her.

I dont understand hillary supporters, especially black ones.
So let’s go down the line :
She has more experience:
How exactly? She was married to a president, which gave her most of her political exposure. Now whether the woman can do the job is one thing, but properly and make the right decisions..then No. Theres obvious things America needs, universal health, an economy fix, better immigration system, end the war in Iraq etc. These are fool proof, No her and Obama are almost identical in these. Excepting for parts of her health care plan and its not a HUGE difference, and his makes much more sense anyway. But it all comes down to.. who can be more than Just policy? Obama by far.
Hillary is all solution and nothing else, she is as stubborn as Bush, she acts like she has a chip on her shoulder for being a woman. Its like when you hear women say oh i’d prefer to work for a man than a woman because the woman generally has something to prove Now i’m all for strong women by this woman tends to go too far, she is close minded in her ideas…this is how its going to be done and end off. Obama isn’t he’s a listener, and we need a President who can listen, listen when he’s wrong and when he’s right. This has now come downto personality because face it..they’re policies arent much different. But this is about character, you can have all the experience in the world and it’s all for nothing if you don’t have the right character.
I hate to say it but she voted for the war, shes gullible and silly just like the others. Even the American public saw before the war that it was a fake war…did Hillary see it, no she didn’t, why because she doesnt make good decisions. Just look at her campaign, it’s not even run properly. she had to fire her campaign manager, she lost 11 races in a row. So right now in terms of managing, Obama has this on lock down.
Obama can be only said to have less experience because he’s not a Governor, so his law implementing abilities have been stiffled in the Senate by lobbyists and others who influence whether laws get passed. That’s not to say he hasnt had good policies or co-sponsored good laws, they just never got passed, so they don’t count. In any case experience means nothing if you are not the right person and she isn’t .
I just feel like people think they are voting for Bill Clinton all over again, okay yea we had good times during the Clinton era so lets voter for a Clinton again. While this woman changes her opinions over and over, doesnt know what she stands for really…except with health care maybe……
I really used to like her but she shows her true colors constantly, i just dont believe the woman anymore…..even when she gives speeches i feel like she doesn’t even believe the shit she says herself, im not even buying her closing statements last night, which are reminiscent of John Ewards closing statements..
check the vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAYItnI-lPo
and she tlks bout copying words and concepts, its so silly…same like she used Obama’s Fired up and ready to go - which he always says opening his rallies
the vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rweVOO-fhug
yet this woman goes on stage and criticizes him for saying something his co-chair said,?
if she wants to win she needs to do more than attack him, she needs to focus on what she’s lacking in this race…character, character that impacts the masses…that they say her vision as well as clear as she does…..

37 & 48 took the words right out of my mouth. All these people keep screaming “Change!” but are not even seeing the underlying messages. My roommate and I actually got into an argument over this debate, which I might add was pretty sad. She’s one of those Obama supporters who can’t stand to hear someone say they’re not voting for him. Personally, I am all up for change. I would love to see Obama in office, one day. This country isn’t ready and the events of this entire election process so far shows that. Like people have mentioned before Barack’s victories are Republican states. When it comes down to it, if Obama does get the nod those states will go right back to McCain. Republicans aren’t crazy. They run this country already and will be damned if they let a Democrat let alone a Black man win. Obama badgered and badgered Hillary when it was him and Edwards up against her. Now that she’s retaliating, she gets booed? Where is the maturity? This whole election will be media-biased. Whomever the media chooses, that’s who will win it, point blank. And right now they are endorsing Obama. In my opinion, Obama is a charmer. His words are just always so perfect and so right. His main focus is college-age Americans. He’s selling hopes and dreams when it comes to financial aid but when it comes down to it, Congress will always have that final say-so. The $4000 he promised every college student, WON’T HAPPEN, among many other things he’s promising.
And whoever said that if Hillary loses Texas, she’s gonna back out, I seriously doubt it. The woman has shown that she is a fighter her entire political career. She will not back down until she has to.

its $4000 only if u do community service, do you think all students will do community service? No , they won’t. And it can’t happen, its like a scholarship but you have to do your part.
Black people, including my parents , are doubtful of him because he’s black..sad to say. If he were white this would not be an issue. He would win clearly because he’s black its only promises and not solutions. It’s quite funny the reverse racism, it in a sense is honest.
We honestly dont see a black man being allowed to win, because of our own experiences…but that has to change…or you are selling yourself and America short. If Obama were to lose to John McCain it would set us back 150yrs…
Also his words are perfect, one, its a memorized speech
two he’s eloquent, kind of like a writer who always knows how to put words together the right way…what’s wrong with that?
you want someone who talks like porky the pig?
Shit im a college student,i want him to talk like that….and when he doesn’t its better, because hes even more charming and funny and ppl love him more.
He can charm all the fuck he wants and say perfect lines and scripts, as long as he gets the shit done. Right now its a campaign everyone is making promises, they are all promises, his promises just sound better. Solutions begin after the elections are done and the candidate is chosen…

News You Should Know About Politics: Obama Got Robbed In N.Y., Elections Board Says; Clinton Steps Up Heat On Surging Obama
Posted February 19, 2008
Obama got robbed in N.Y., the Elections Board says
The state Board of Elections says that Sen. Barack Obama got shafted in the New York primary. In fact, The New York Daily News reports, several districts actually show that zero votes were recorded for Obama, when in reality he had gotten hundreds. In nearly 80 districts – even in mega-Black Harlem – he got zilch, while in other largely Black districts the tallies were far off the mark. At first, results in the 94th district, where Harlem is seated, showed a 141-0 sweep for Hillary Clinton, but a recount changed the tally to 261-136, according to the News. Describing the miscalculations as “outrageous,” Brooklyn City Councilman Charles Barron told the paper, “I think this is an all-out effort to stop a campaign that is about to make history and render America’s first Black president. We need some kind of independent or federal agency to investigate this.”

Thank you for breaking it down to the people. I personally will vote for Barack but if Hillary is the nominee, then she will get my vote come November. I don’t mind voting for my second choice; to not vote is just plain IGNORANT. IMO McCain is just an extension of Bush, and that I cannot stomach for four more years.
In addition, I am just tired of the same ole ish. I need a new breathe of air and I think this is one of the minor things Barack can offer. He and Hillary are very similar in their views, and when it comes down to it, we need a president that other people would not mind working with. Hillary is disappointing me by acting like a spoiled kid, that’s not getting their way (http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1714840,00.html).
If she cannot keep it together in the primaries, what’s going to happen if she is the nominee and has to run against McCain. More importantly if she became the next president.

I am a student here at the University of Texas and was able to witness all of the campaigning and debates going on yesterday personally. I support Obama 100%. Even though Obama and Clinton agree on the same problems that America is facing today, the difference between the two is that they each want to go about solving these problems differently. And my personal opinion is that Obama has better solutions. For some reason I just cant believe anything that Hillary says and she has turned me off even more after her actions last night! I wonder was I the only one that noticed that after she brung up the whole Xeroxing speeches and she realized that she messed up because the audience booed her, at the end of the debate in her closing remarks she all of a sudden gets emotional and tell Obama how she feels sooo priviledged to be running against him and how he is a great man but just a few minutes before she was bashing on him hard!! She thought she was being slick and simply wanted to gain the sympathy of the audience back after pissing them off with her slick comment towards barak plagirising. I didnt believe none of those little crocodile tears forming in her eyes. It’s all politics and she was just trying to make herself look good after making herself look stupid. I also think that she is too emotional!! The lady cries and gets emotional about a lot of situations and we are at a time in America where we dont need a president that is over emotional. We need a president that can suck it up, stand tall and get business done in this country and fix the mess that we have caused in other countries! These are just my opinions and my reasonings for voting for Obama.

I thought Hillary made a valid point. Obama is an eloquent, moving speaker. He’s good at reading lines on paper, but can we trust that he knows what the hell he’s doing? She has proven success. I feel more secure with her, and I thought her line was not only clever (albeit rehearsed), but very true. She articulated my feelings precisely.

I really don’t trust Hillary and that’s why she wont get my vote either way. Why do we only see her emotions when she is losing? Like I said earlier their campaign policy are similar so this is a popularity contest and I like him more. Not to mention I like the way he wants to go about acheiving is goals. With him it’s we and us with her it’s I.

I am personally appaulled by Sen. Clinton and her pathetic atempt to tarnish Sen. Obama’s credibility.
first of all SHE NEEDS TO STOP TALKING ABOUT WHAT SHE ALREADY DID, SHE NEEDS TO STOP BRINING UP HER TIME IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND SHE NEEDS TO LEARN TO GET TO THE POINT. I can’t stand listening to her because whenever asked a question she always begins with “well when i….” that is completely irrelevant to what is going on here and now. the past is just that- the past. and i want people to stop saying how much experience they do or do not have. The last time i checked the only way to get presidential experience is TO BE PRESIDENT.
Listening to Hillary Clinton makes me bored because she never gets to the point. in last nights debate a question had to be repeated because she didn’t directly answer it the first time
Keep going Obama!!!!! We’re almost there

To many of the Obama bashers I wish you would take the time to read his actual accomplishments. Which if you really watched the debate last night he listed for you such as (passing one of the toughest ethics laws since watergate, war veterans rights laws) please do some research before you make empty comments that lack substance. As a matter of fact the small amount of time he has been in congress he has gotten some of the toughest policies passed. The only thing Hillary Clinton could say was the committees she served on as result of being the first lady. And if you go to her website only list accomplishments from the pass two years and nothing alarming no policies that effect anyones lives. So please stop bashing this educated intelligent man without any reason but to support your lack of knowledge of many political issues.

Hilary is not be trusted and she has no experience being a President . She made herself look bad last night.
If she did win in TX, by some miracle, it wouldn’t be enough.
It’s sad when black people won’t support a qualified person who happens to be of the same race. They would rather support someone who will lie cheat and steal for the vote.Someone said people are not ready for a Black President. .Perhaps we can’t imagine it because of all the negativity we see in the media. Or maybe people have given up hope. Barack Obama is a man with good character and the irony is have more white people are voting for him than blacks. HRC keeps talking about experience. I don’t her and her trifling husband’s experiece is what America needs. I don’ won’t a President that’s only going to help a certain group of people, but all people.
On a side note , how you gone rn the country but can’t control your man?

I am very distrubed by some of the comments given in this section. and what pains me most is that it is by young people. It is no doubt that if George W. Bush who is an intellecual cripple can be voted president after having NO experience in washington and a bachelors degree and be voted in twice. then Barack Obama a Harvard educated man who by the why graduated with honors and was the first African american of Harvard’s law review can do a good job.
The experience game that they are playing is just a ploy to try and confuse us on the issues. Barack Obama has accomplished more in the US senate than Hillary Clinton and has also got more legislation passed then her. He also has been a legislator on the state level and worked for 15 years as a community activist and a civil rights attorney defending the rights of people like us. I have graduated from law school myself and being president of the law review is a big deal.
Please look at all of the facts before you vote and remember no matter who you vote for please EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE.

Go OBAMA! I stayed up until 3:30 AM Europe Time to watch this. As a Poli Sci graduated, I can see many similiarities between Obama and Clinton’s policies but what it comes down to is there additudes about this race. Clinton seems to act as if she is entitled to the nonimation. Obama truly seems like a breath of fresh air. We need a politician is willing to revolutionize the U.S. instead of following old standards and clean up the biggest mess ever- left by Bush. On another note, I would be tremendously happy to see an Obama/Clinton ticket. I don’t hate Clinton but right now, she doesn’t fit my mold of becoming the best presidential candidate. Also, if Clinton seems to act entitled, McCain thinks he deserves to become president. He seems sneeky to me, he is an attachment of everything wrong in Wa. D.C. and he along with many Republicans are the reason that my husband is preparing for his third year-long deployment to Iraq. Another thing, why does it seem that many politicans and the media are diverting their attention from what is truly important in the U.S.- the fact that our troops are sacrificing everyday for selfish, stupid, ignorant people who do not seem to give a f-k about what is going on overseas.

One more comment, I totally have been thinking the same thing that a lot of people are pointing out about Clinton- all her so-called experience includes many years as “First Lady.” How does that necessarily qualify as more experience? I agree that it has allowed her access and knowledge to what really goes on in Washington but that doesn’t mean that Obama’s experience is nothing compared to hers. Furthermore, he is 15 years younger than her so her pointing out that his experience doesn’t qualify seems very arrogant.

#53 I agree with you!
Its sad that black folks aren’t for Obama simply because he is black. I cant lie; I’m on the fence. I want Obama to win because I don’t trust Hillary’s azz. When she was running for NY state senate I was all for her but this time around she’s changed. Her true colors are showing and if she won’t talk about the iSSUES and stop lingering on the BS then she’s got a problem. It bothers me that some folks consider the Clinton’s to be some kind of saviors for black folks. ‘But Bill played the sax, smoked a lil weed and has an office in Harlem! he’s down for us!’ Uh….yeah, right. The Clinton’s know exactly what they’re doing and I aint buying it.
I want Obama to win but I got this feeling like they’d rather give the presidency to McCain rather than see a black man take it. McCain is older than dirt with a past in the military. Nice and conservative too. Yeah, they’d rig the polls for him for sure. With the electoral college in place we’ll never truly be able to have a direct democracy.

Obama had to earn his votes given by Blacks as well as everyone else. Clinton ran her campaign from a sense of entitlement - and has since tampered with votes, rigged voting machines, sent out mailers with lies about his records and made a lot of back-room deals that we know nothing about. When Obama criticizes her record or policy that is legit campaigning - her lying about his is not. If she had just run on her policies I would’ve had so much respect for her and may have voted for her as well. She chose not to and play dirty politricks instead. I was reading comments on New York Times and some poster said Black people owed a debt to the Clintons. I didn’t even bother replying because that was just DUMB. But it’s the attitude of a lot of white people. I wonder if the Clintons think that as well, but what did they do specifically to help Blacks when Bill was in office? Cities like Buffalo and Detroit were not really helped. Black unemployment rates are and have been high. Bill passed laws that made it easier to send more Black to prison, then disenfranchised them from being able to vote. Courting Black leaders is not the same thing as courting everyday folk. Bush didn’t help either, but the situation wasn’t great to begin with and he wasn’t trying to get the Black vote. Besides some people actually voted for him on the premise of being against gay marriage and having fears played upon. People were not seeing the big picture. As for Rethuglicans voting for Barack - they could just as easily be voting for Hillary. In the end the country we have is the one we’ve chosen by our actions or inactions. Perhaps we are turning a page, taking a step in the right direction…which is why Michelle Obama said she was ‘really proud of the country’.
