POLITICS: TX DEMOCRATIC DEBATE RECAP

The last time Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama debated was before the Super Tuesday contests where both scored big in those races, splitting two dozen contests from coast to coast. However, Obama has enjoyed ten consecutive wins since Super Tuesday.

The last time the two debated, it was civil. This time, not so much.

After forty-five minutes of civility, things took a turn for the worse after Clinton stated “lifting whole passages from someone else’s speeches is not change you can believe in. It’s change you can Xerox.”

Obama responded to the plagiarism claim by saying that “the notion that [he] plagiarized from one of [his] national co-chairs, who gave [him] the line and encouraged [him] to use it, is silly.”

“If we don’t bring the country together, stop the endless bickering, actually focus on solutions and reduce that special interests that have dominated Washington … we will not get anything done,” Obama said.

For the most part, though, this debate only reiterates the similarities between the two, particularly on the issues of immigration reform, economic aid to struggling Americans and democracy in Cuba. They are not the only political dynamo duo being mentioned, though. A movement to draft Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has begun and she and Sen. John McCain are being mentioned as the Republican dream team.

Regarding the issue of the nomination coming down to superdelegates, Clinton responded:

“These are the rules that are followed, and you know, I think that it will sort itself out. I’m not worried about that. We will have a nominee, and we will have a unified Democratic Party, and we will go on to victory in November.”

Obama added:

Well, I think it is important, given how hard Senator Clinton and I have been working, that these primaries and caucuses count for something. And so my belief is that the will of the voters, expressed in this long election process, is what ultimately will determine who our next nominee is going to be. But understand what I think is most important to the voters, and that is that we have a government that is listening to them again. They feel as if they’ve been shut out.

Speaking of which, Color of Change, which exists to strengthen Black America’s political voice, has created a petition calling on Black Congressional leaders to use their “superdelegate” status to amplify the will of the voters.

Clinton faces an uphill battle since she’s endured loss after loss after loss (plus seven). Additionally, Obama raised much more money than Clinton (and McCain) last month.

According to CNN, even Bill Clinton admitted that his wife must win in Texas and Ohio. Those states, along with Rhode Island and Vermont, hold their primaries on March 4.

I am personally appaulled by Sen. Clinton and her pathetic atempt to tarnish Sen. Obama’s credibility.
first of all SHE NEEDS TO STOP TALKING ABOUT WHAT SHE ALREADY DID, SHE NEEDS TO STOP BRINING UP HER TIME IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND SHE NEEDS TO LEARN TO GET TO THE POINT. I can’t stand listening to her because whenever asked a question she always begins with “well when i….” that is completely irrelevant to what is going on here and now. the past is just that- the past. and i want people to stop saying how much experience they do or do not have. The last time i checked the only way to get presidential experience is TO BE PRESIDENT.
Listening to Hillary Clinton makes me bored because she never gets to the point. in last nights debate a question had to be repeated because she didn’t directly answer it the first time

Keep going Obama!!!!! We’re almost there

To many of the Obama bashers I wish you would take the time to read his actual accomplishments. Which if you really watched the debate last night he listed for you such as (passing one of the toughest ethics laws since watergate, war veterans rights laws) please do some research before you make empty comments that lack substance. As a matter of fact the small amount of time he has been in congress he has gotten some of the toughest policies passed. The only thing Hillary Clinton could say was the committees she served on as result of being the first lady. And if you go to her website only list accomplishments from the pass two years and nothing alarming no policies that effect anyones lives. So please stop bashing this educated intelligent man without any reason but to support your lack of knowledge of many political issues.

@ 42, only the person who receives the democratic nomination receives secret service protection. Right now the candidates are paying, out of pocket, for their personal protection. Obama 08!

  4. Hillary lossed quite a few but she won some big ones too (Cali, NY, etc).

    GOBAMA !

Hilary is not be trusted and she has no experience being a President . She made herself look bad last night.
If she did win in TX, by some miracle, it wouldn’t be enough.
It’s sad when black people won’t support a qualified person who happens to be of the same race. They would rather support someone who will lie cheat and steal for the vote.Someone said people are not ready for a Black President. .Perhaps we can’t imagine it because of all the negativity we see in the media. Or maybe people have given up hope. Barack Obama is a man with good character and the irony is have more white people are voting for him than blacks. HRC keeps talking about experience. I don’t her and her trifling husband’s experiece is what America needs. I don’ won’t a President that’s only going to help a certain group of people, but all people.

On a side note , how you gone rn the country but can’t control your man?

  6. Obama 08

I am very distrubed by some of the comments given in this section. and what pains me most is that it is by young people. It is no doubt that if George W. Bush who is an intellecual cripple can be voted president after having NO experience in washington and a bachelors degree and be voted in twice. then Barack Obama a Harvard educated man who by the why graduated with honors and was the first African american of Harvard’s law review can do a good job.
The experience game that they are playing is just a ploy to try and confuse us on the issues. Barack Obama has accomplished more in the US senate than Hillary Clinton and has also got more legislation passed then her. He also has been a legislator on the state level and worked for 15 years as a community activist and a civil rights attorney defending the rights of people like us. I have graduated from law school myself and being president of the law review is a big deal.
Please look at all of the facts before you vote and remember no matter who you vote for please EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE.

Go OBAMA! I stayed up until 3:30 AM Europe Time to watch this. As a Poli Sci graduated, I can see many similiarities between Obama and Clinton’s policies but what it comes down to is there additudes about this race. Clinton seems to act as if she is entitled to the nonimation. Obama truly seems like a breath of fresh air. We need a politician is willing to revolutionize the U.S. instead of following old standards and clean up the biggest mess ever- left by Bush. On another note, I would be tremendously happy to see an Obama/Clinton ticket. I don’t hate Clinton but right now, she doesn’t fit my mold of becoming the best presidential candidate. Also, if Clinton seems to act entitled, McCain thinks he deserves to become president. He seems sneeky to me, he is an attachment of everything wrong in Wa. D.C. and he along with many Republicans are the reason that my husband is preparing for his third year-long deployment to Iraq. Another thing, why does it seem that many politicans and the media are diverting their attention from what is truly important in the U.S.- the fact that our troops are sacrificing everyday for selfish, stupid, ignorant people who do not seem to give a f-k about what is going on overseas.

Stupid mistake, but I am truly “fired up” about this election so I typed too quickly, lol.

  9. Mrs. Rod

One more comment, I totally have been thinking the same thing that a lot of people are pointing out about Clinton- all her so-called experience includes many years as “First Lady.” How does that necessarily qualify as more experience? I agree that it has allowed her access and knowledge to what really goes on in Washington but that doesn’t mean that Obama’s experience is nothing compared to hers. Furthermore, he is 15 years younger than her so her pointing out that his experience doesn’t qualify seems very arrogant.

“I dont understand hillary supporters, especially black ones.”

i hate to say this but…REAL TALK

  11. Nikki

    #53 I agree with you!

Its sad that black folks aren’t for Obama simply because he is black. I cant lie; I’m on the fence. I want Obama to win because I don’t trust Hillary’s azz. When she was running for NY state senate I was all for her but this time around she’s changed. Her true colors are showing and if she won’t talk about the iSSUES and stop lingering on the BS then she’s got a problem. It bothers me that some folks consider the Clinton’s to be some kind of saviors for black folks. ‘But Bill played the sax, smoked a lil weed and has an office in Harlem! he’s down for us!’ Uh….yeah, right. The Clinton’s know exactly what they’re doing and I aint buying it.

I want Obama to win but I got this feeling like they’d rather give the presidency to McCain rather than see a black man take it. McCain is older than dirt with a past in the military. Nice and conservative too. Yeah, they’d rig the polls for him for sure. With the electoral college in place we’ll never truly be able to have a direct democracy.

  12. Obama had to earn his votes given by Blacks as well as everyone else. Clinton ran her campaign from a sense of entitlement – and has since tampered with votes, rigged voting machines, sent out mailers with lies about his records and made a lot of back-room deals that we know nothing about. When Obama criticizes her record or policy that is legit campaigning – her lying about his is not. If she had just run on her policies I would’ve had so much respect for her and may have voted for her as well. She chose not to and play dirty politricks instead. I was reading comments on New York Times and some poster said Black people owed a debt to the Clintons. I didn’t even bother replying because that was just DUMB. But it’s the attitude of a lot of white people. I wonder if the Clintons think that as well, but what did they do specifically to help Blacks when Bill was in office? Cities like Buffalo and Detroit were not really helped. Black unemployment rates are and have been high. Bill passed laws that made it easier to send more Black to prison, then disenfranchised them from being able to vote. Courting Black leaders is not the same thing as courting everyday folk. Bush didn’t help either, but the situation wasn’t great to begin with and he wasn’t trying to get the Black vote. Besides some people actually voted for him on the premise of being against gay marriage and having fears played upon. People were not seeing the big picture. As for Rethuglicans voting for Barack – they could just as easily be voting for Hillary. In the end the country we have is the one we’ve chosen by our actions or inactions. Perhaps we are turning a page, taking a step in the right direction…which is why Michelle Obama said she was ‘really proud of the country’.

  13. Ngeri

Senator Obama actually had *eleven consecutive wins..the latter being his democratics abroad primary win.

  14. Chiquita

I hope and pray that Hillary loses these primaries so she can finally go home and take care of home business. The crying episodes, the dirty politricks and the false allegations have got to stop somewhere.

    Vote Obama

AND here is some VERY IMPORTANT NEWS you may want to share with the people:

HILLARY CLINTON IS A BOLD FACE LIAR!!
WATCH THE YOUTUBE VIDEO TITLED: “THE SHOCKING VIDEO HILLARY DOES NOT WANT YOUR TO SEE”.
THE VIDEO CONCERNS HILLARY CAMPAIGN FINANCING FRAUD, WITH A MAN NAMED PETER PAUL. THIS CASE IS CURRENTLY IN COURT IN CALIFORNIA. SOMEHOW THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA HAS DECIDED NOT TO TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH ABOUT HILLARY CLINTON!! Hillary Clinton is facing a Campaign Finance Fraud case in court in California. Apparently she had a man named Peter Paul do a fund raising event for her U.S. Senator election campaign, raising $1.2 million dollars for her. After it was revealed that Peter Paul had a criminal background, Hillary lied about knowing him, or receiving $1.2 millions in campaign financing from him. She also filed documents with the FEC, and did not report the $1.2 million dollars she had received from the campaign fundraiser, WHICH IS A FELONY.
VIDEO evidence, and PHONE CALL evidence, and LETTERS evidence (as seen in the youtube video) is going to be presented in court in California in his lawsuit against Hillary Clinton, and she will most likely be charged with a felony.

The mainstream press has for some reason been ignoring this story fact, but it is for us to search out the truth.
It is imparitive that people know this information before they vote, because Hillary, with yet another fraud case pending, where there is physical proof of her participatig in the fraud, on video tape, will NOT become president, and will be prosecuted!

Democrats need to know the facts so they don’t waste their votes on this dishonest woman who will not make it to the White House. This information is in the public domain, and the courts, and the Republicans will surely use it during the general election.

WE DO NOT WANT TO PUT ANOTHER PATHELOGICAL LIAR LIKE HILLARY, AND HER ACCOMPLICE, HER LYING HUSBAND, THE WORST LYING PRESIDENT TO DATE, BILL CLINTON, BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

THE YOUTUBE VIDEO IS A MUST SEE: IT’S CALLED –”THE SHOCKING VIDEO HILLARY CLINTON DOES NOT WANT YOU TO SEE”,
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR VOTE ON THIS DISGRACEFUL WOMAN, VOTE FOR SOMEONE WITH INTEGRITY.
