ROUNDUP: JEEZY GRANTS WISH / WHOOPI ACCEPTS APOLOGY / NAOMI HOSPITALIZED
Thursday, February 28, 2008

Young Jeezy granted the wish of the winner from his “Make Your Dreams Come True” contest on Tuesday in Atlanta. The contest offered an open invitation to fans to share their dreams and aspirations with Jeezy.
The winning submission came from Tamara Jenkins-Wilson from North Carolina who wrote a heart-felt letter regarding her disabled son, Davon:
“My ultimate dream would be for me to provide a wheelchair accessible van for my son, Davon Jenkins. Davon is 13-years old and has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair. It is hard for me to provide this for him as we are a military family and I am unable to work as I have to take care of him. My husband is currently serving in Iraq so I physically lift him in and out of our vehicle when we need to go to appointments and such. Thanks so much for the opportunity.”
The Jenkins-Wilson family was presented with the wheel chair accessible van personally purchased by Jeezy, along with a personalized wardrobe for Davon.
WHOOPI ACCEPTS APOLOGY FROM THE ACADEMY

Whoopi Goldberg has accepted an apology from producer Gil Cates for not including her in a montage featuring Oscar hosts during Sunday’s Academy Awards telecast. Cates called her Tuesday and “talked about the fact that he had made an oversight, pure and simple.”
On the Wednesday airing of “The View,” Goldberg, who called Cates a “great gentleman,” accepted his apology.
NAOMI STILL HOSPITALIZED

Supermodel Naomi Campbell spent a second day recuperating in a Brazilian hospital Wednesday after doctors removed a cyst.
“We have been instructed to not release any information regarding Naomi,” a Sirio Libanes Hospital spokeswoman said on condition of anonymity in line with hospital policy. “All I can tell you is that she is still at the hospital and that she is recovering very nicely.” [ SOURCE ]
Neither the spokeswoman nor Campbell’s publicist, Jeff Raymond, knew how long she would remain there.
Campbell, a frequent visitor to Brazil who earlier this month celebrated Carnival in the northeastern city of Salvador, was admitted in recent days to the Sao Paulo facility.
Gynecologist Jose Aristodemo Pinotti described the procedure as a laparoscopy, in which doctors use a thin, lighted scope to view internal organs.
On Tuesday, the day after the surgery, Pinotti said Campbell was “completely cured and walking in her room.”

Its about time Jeezy gave that van to that poor lady and her son. I heard she was supposed to receive it months ago but the PR firm wouldnt return her phone calls after several conversations.

Jeezy probably had forgot about. Glad she got the van though…that is a little too much to have to lift. Whoopi G. situation is still pathetic…you just don’t forget. Naomi? Does she even model anymore? lol.

Is it fair to say that nobody even missed whoopie during the Oscars? I’m sorry I was to busy shielding my eyes from solar eclipse outfits of Tina and Beyonce….

That Young Jeezy thing just makes me melt inside.
HAHAHA, How are you going to make such an oversight? Forgetting Whoopi Goldberg? So are you telling me that it was only this dude working on it? What about their researchers and editors, are you telling me that non of these motherlovers saw that Whoopi was “missing?” No, stop that. What rubbish!
I hope Naomi is OK. I respect her.

#1 did they really make the poor woman wait that long? That’s a damn shame. Her son is a sweetheart and they shouldn’t have done them like that. At least Jadakiss bought it for them. Hopefully that helps.
Naomi, get better with your crazy self!
Whoppi, they just apologized because they sorry behinds were talked about on your show. You rock no matter what.
Oh, did ya’ll notice that when Whoppi won her Oscar, Denzel presented it to her?

WHAT JEEZY DID FOR THAT WOMAN AND HER SON IS WONDERFUL. HELPING OTHERS IS SO FULFILLING.
AS FOR WHOOPI, IF I WAS HER, I WOULD’VE NOT ACCEPTED THAT APOLOGY!!!!! HOW MANY INTERNS, EDITORS, RESEARCHERS, RESEARCH CONSULTANTS, GROUP LEADERS, EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS, ETC. REALIZED THAT THE WHOOPI GOLDBERG WAS NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO’S MOTHER WORKED OVER AT HARPO STUDIOS IN CHICAGO A WHILE BACK AND THEY REVIEWED, EDITED, AND MONITERED MATERIAL EACH DAY. I DON’T UNDERSTAND.

It is nice to hear about acts of kindness like what Jeezy did, I now have respect for him. I hate how people become millionaires and forget about others who have not been so fortunate.
Whoopi it ain’t that serious….more important shit to be worried about in this life.
Peace people.

That was so sweet of Jeezy. I have newfound respect for him. More of our singers & rappers need to do things like this. If I had money I know I would…
Whoopi shoulda been like “take that apology and shove it”. They did that shot on purpose, they just don’t want to look like they are playing the race card.
Whatev @ Naomi

I’m glad he looked out for that woman. I have a daughter with Cerebal Palsy and I know it can be rough and stressful dealing with everyday life. She’s 5 and there are alot of things you have to go through and deal so your child can live just as normal as a regular child. So I’m glad Jeezy looked out for the young lady and her son.

Way to go Jeezy!! That’s called GOOD PRESS. More of our Brothers need to be doing these kinds of works, and putting out mad press releases and other forms of media (pics for gossip blogs)!!!
This are the types of actions that will save you when “shit hits the fan”.
Not to mention, if you’ve got millions already, why not give 2-5% away in charible gifts — which DOES NOT include $5K for some good head from a random chick. We’re talking helping those who are disproportionately disadvantaged.
I’d love to help guys seek out ways to disperse their income wisely throughout the community. That’d be a dream come true for me.

i saw this on globagrind i don’t understand why Whoppi is upset. I saw her on the montage for winning an Oscar. Maybe not for the hosting montage. I guess you want to get the credit for your work. When will these Hollywood people understand they have yet to really arrive.

That’s a beautiful thing that Jeezy did for Davon.
Ii’m sure really isn’t sweating the Oscar thing — that was nothing compared to them robbing her of an Osacr for her role as Celie.

That is an absolutley wonderful thing that Jeezy did for this family. Although he is financially able, he didn’t have to do it at all. Those of you talking about how long it took shut up because you don’t know and when its all said and done he provided them with something that they really needed and wouldn’t have been able to afford. It is wonderful to give and I agree with everyone that stated that more people should do the same. Even if you can’t afford to buy a van, there are so many charities that can use an hour or two of your time every weekend or month. Try it; the reward is endless.
