THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Sorry for the delay on some of this music. Things have been pretty weird and we’ve just been trying to work out some kinks. I promise that the slowness is ending now! We’re working things out as best as possible.

Bobby Valentino – Sexy Girl (full) – listen
New music from Bobby Valentino. I have to admit, I’m not the biggest fan of Bobby V., but randomly, Special Occasion had a couple of songs that I really liked. But “Sexy Girl” kind of left me cold. I was trying to get into at the beginning, but it sort of just turned into background music for me. I don’t know, I think I’m very much so more interested in Steph Jones’s project than new music from Bobby Valentino. We’ll see, though.

Sean Garrett feat. Ludacris – Grippin’ (full) – listen
I guess it’s that time for all songwriters and producers, who have knocked out hits for the past couple of years to come out with their own albums! Sean “The Pen” Garrett has been responsible for popping out singles and smashes for artist from Chris Brown to Britney Spears, Nicole Scherzinger to Beyonce and Gwen Stefani. To be honest, I hate the song. Sean Garrett might be good for a guide vocal, but I don’t want to hear him singing on a track. I want him to stick to writing.

Usher feat. Young Jeezy – Love In This Club (full) – listen
Shoot me, I know I’m late! “Love In This Club” has been getting love and spins all over the Atlanta area, on the radio and in the clubs, so I think I’ve been pretty much forced to like it, because at first, I hated it. I love Polow Da Don, but I don’t know what it was about this song that made me feel lukewarm. I think it was the fact that I was so attached to the Rich Harrison-produced, “Dat Girl Right There,” that this song just didn’t hit as hard to me. But it’s definitely grown on me.

Shareefa feat. Jadakiss – On Fire (full) – listen
Who knew that DTP was going to give Shareefa a new album? The new single “On Fire,” is from Shareefa’s upcoming sophomore release, The Secret, which is expected to release the third quarter of ’08. I don’t know, this doesn’t hit as hard as “I Need A Boss.” Honestly, I hope she doesn’t think she’s going to come back with an asymmetrical cut and do the same thing she did on the first album, Point of No Return. I don’t know, I just don’t see it for Shareefa getting over the sophomore hump.

  1. SO FRESH

OK…I LIKE DA BOBBY V SONG ALOT…ITS PRETTY HOT!…DA LYRICS A LITTLE SIMPLE BUT PRODUCTION AND VOCALS ARE HOT!

  2. Man Bobby V. make the coldest R&B songs! He got those “get your freak wit ya lady” tracks. Him and Tim and Bob make a really good combo. I’m been supporting Bobby since Pj Butta and Butta’s Bootlegs! Usher’s song is pretty good too.

All the songs you “hate”(such a strong word) I actually like…go figure..I haven’t listend to the other ones yet…

  3. Sean Garrett, stick to writing, your voice sucks. Everyone think they a singer now cuz of the T-pain sound now…damn, anyone can be a singer. When will my turn come???

    Check me out…

  4. Not really feelin the Usher song, it has to grow on me
Sean Garrett is aiight, but i agree that he shuld stick to writing.
    Bobby V., no.

  5. Sexy Girl aint even on his Album

  6. SOUNDZ LIKE MONEY

Sorry I expected more from Usher. Maybe he’ll wise up like when he released that “Pop ya collar” single back in 2000 and didn’t get a good response so he went and did the whole album over (8701). I haven’t heard any of that musical magic from him lately (Same girl, Icebox remix). I am sure he misses L.A. Reid.

Not really a Bobby V fan myself, track is ok. Bobby just doesn’t have that STAR quality, and doesn’t have any of that Star Making material….stop writing your own sh*t and get at NEYO, R Kelly and Dream.

Shareffa, hhmmm, um just mediocre, she needs to find a new Image and sound, because she will never stand out with all the chicks tryin to be Mary J Blige in the game now. I got her last CD and favorites were the singles: I needa Boss, Cry No more, Butterfly and Eye wonder, everything else was just…blah (Mary J wouldn’t have recorded that sh*t when she was getting high)

Sean Garrett my boy, but I agree with Brian on this one, Stick to songwriting, its more profittable and you have more longevity. Recording your own album and touring is just too distracting and you won’t have time to make your songwriting Dough writing for Beyonce,Usher,Fantasia and everyone else you writes for.

Just my opinion…beef or more advice get at me, soundzlikemoney@gmail.com

  7. SOUNDZ LIKE MONEY

oh, and i ain’t tryin to hate or be negative with my reviews either, sorry artists, don’t take it that way. reefa and Bobby V I love your voices just not your material.Step it up. What made Motown what it was back in the day was they had a committee that heard the songs and judge them before they went out in the world, and in some ways these blogs are that committee for you, use them as feed back, learn from your mistakes, go back to the studio and create some magic. becuz if your puttin out something that is nothing less than spectacular you will see those results but if you putting that recycled stale bread beats and mundane melodies (overall medicore) material how can you expect us to get excited and go out to record stores? Especially when you people like Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys who have master the art of coming with them memorable Monsta hits! I am sorry Bobby or Shareefa if you and Mariah, or Usher drop on the same day and that was your first single….E=MC2 all the way baby.(maybe that Ush but still waiting for the official single)

U ONLY LIKE WHAT’S ON THE RADIO OR WHEN U STEP IN THE CLUB..IT’S THE SAME SONG OVER AND OVER MATTER OF FACT THE PLANET ROCK BEAT WITH A DIFFERENT ARTIST, OPEN YOUR MINDS AND GO DO HOMEWORK AND TURN THE RADIO OFF AND LISTEN TO SOME REAL MUSIC AND YOU’LL SEE WHAT BOBBY’V IS TRYINA DO, BRING R&B BACK..WOW..YALL ARE KILLING ME OUT THERE THIS IS WHY R&B IS STRUGGLIN SO BAD, YALL THINK IT NEEDS TO SOUND LIKE A CLUB RAP SONG!!!

  9. T

I missed the new music review too. Keep it coming

  10. SOUNDZ LIKE MONEY

    @ T rocka

Sorry but the songs that play on the radio and in the club are what determine what are Hits so if we don’t hear a song on the radio or in the club then …its not a hit. these artists are in the Record industry that is based on sales, i think they know that. I am sure you favorite artist are happy that you like their album fillers, but the majority is what matters. there is nothing new or innovative about singing about how sexy a girl is. that song is Faarrrrr from bringing back R&B, Artist like Neyo are bring back R&B. Lets hear some music about releationships people and stop with all the Club lovin, and sexy chick cliche’s.

  11. Darkandbeautiful

Ushers track is the hotness wow his voice is amazing. Im coping that album.

  12. myra

    love shareefa song
    she’s got me

  13. Deez Nutz

Bobby V’s song is the best of the bunch, dude is truly making grown man music. Im never disappointed with his albums. Sean Garret needs to quit tryna be a star and just write for people, but Luda killed it as expected. Usher’s song might have to grow on me its cool, but I don’t think its the smash thats gonna put him back on top. The Polow beat is dope. Shareefa came thru with a banger, her first album is slept on and seems like she’s coming back harder than ever

  14. DatDude

I’m loving this Reefa Track, who’s the producer is it S.O.S.?

  15. cheezey

shareefa is one of the most underrated R&B artists out right now. her first album was flawless. her talent..message..and passion all come through in her music. people who know real music would appreciate what she’s bringing. not to say this jada track is anything amazing – but i’m looking forward to the 2nd album for sure.
