Here is Jay-Z’s new video for the song “I Know” off of the American Gangster album. The video was directed by Philip Andelman and features Zoe Kravitz. The video is described as “a surreal, daydream-like blending of four separate and unrelated stories, four unique trips taken on by four girls in one night in New York City.” That’s wassup.

I like the song, and I will admit that there are a couple of other good singles from “American Gangster”. The album was under- rated, and over-bootlegged.
As for the video, I get the concept.

The video is dark because you have to listen to lyrics because the lyrics are dark. The song is about a girl who loves ex and take ex trips or LSD whatever drug. If you look at the video and listen to the song, it’s very vivid. Zoe is a young girl and plus MTV and BET and other music television channels have strict viewing process on what videos should be played so if they actually showed her using the drugs, that wouldn’t have been appropriate so the director just used her extacy trips vision as a clear indication of her loving the drug because it takes her on a ride.

I always like the song, but this video well I don’t know what to say. I was looking at it and at the same time I was thinking of something else. Kinda like the episode on the dave chapelle show. I was trying to focus but I just kept looking away from it thinkin about what I was gonna eat later. I hope the video is a lil brighter on tv cause I really couldn’t see what was going on. Clearly, the video nor the song isn’t literal. Each character that Zoe plays in the video has something that that gives them high. The street girl’s high is love for her boyfriend, the rich lady’s vice is her material wealth (jewels, clothing, home, etc.), the girl in the projects vice is the street life, and the girl in the club vice is club life.
