I just want people to realize the power and brilliance in this message. To take these words and make them song is brilliance. Think about it: there are about 1000 songs you’ve heard three times, and you know the chorus to every one.
Now, “Yes, We Can” will forever be synonymous with Barack Obama. If this video gets airplay on Monday and Tuesday at BET and MTV and it continues to get the buzz it’s getting all over the internet, best believe it will get voters out to the polls and caucuses in favor of Obama.
Music has a powerful, profound effect on people, and right now, all Obama supporters need to be thankful for these artists, actors and celebs who made this video, especially will.i.am ….
i thought this was a very powerful video i was surprised my self at all the people that were in this vid. i hope that people who are so against Barack see what we see..not just as whites,blacks, aisans,hindus,indians,latinos, chinese. but as a UNION!!! Im not bashing any other candidate thats running but Barack just has something different to offer. A voice to all people. Really POWERFUL & emotional piece. I think that one thing that needs to be taken from the video is that people of ALL races, creeds, colours etc are voting for Senator Obama because we need something DIFFERENT than the status quo bs that we have been dealing with for the past 8 years!!!! I seen this for the first time earlier today and I loved it. Beautifully done, it gave me goosebumps. Barack has a way of speaking that is like none other in recent memory. His delivery of his speeches are amazing and this video shows that. Kudos to Will.I.AM….

Concreteloop isn’t biased when they report when Barack wins and when Hillary wins. I’m proud that they actually see how special and brilliant Barack is. Barack brings so much to the table and if you don’t recognize that, there’s only one explanation for it, you haven’t done your HOMEWORK! & Its not about hillary being a women or Obama being black its about who has America’s best intrest at heart. You would think after having a president like Bush that people would get serious about who their chosing to be our president but it doesn’t look as if that has happened. Hillary & Obama are over hyped & Obama is only using the rappers and music because he knows that the music is a big influence on people, so he used that to his advantaged by trying to get hip-hop artist to work woth him on his campaign and other celebrity’s. I really wanted Ron Paul to wil i really do believe that he really was sincere and could get the job done the right way. I do not believe that obama has a good plan for us Americans and Hillary seems to weak to handle a job like this.

But this song actually has a message, and if is promoting something positive!! so get over it. Why it would make you NOT want to vote?? Look what happened the last time,, we got George Bush!! we dont want that again.
This video will not change my mind, or should it with anyone, People think for yourselves and don’t let these celebrities do it for you. Iits funny how we say vote for issues not for color when we finally get an opportunity to change history books, we cant dull down the fact that having a black president would change the world, and could possibly change the ideology of black people. Since blacks came to this country we were treated like animals, and even after been released from slavery we were treated worse. Now look at us, we hate on each other, who knows when we will ever get a chance to see a black man run the country because yes it VERY important to vote on issues, but maybe we should also vote on chance. Im 19 and I would love to look at my future son or daughter one day and say yes my generation elected the first black man president, and it was our greatest decision.

lol I’m sorry but I got NO indication from anyone here that they decided to vote because these celebs said whom they were voting for. What I DID see is either an affirmation of whom people where already going to vote for or anger because people are voting for Senator Obama, or still sadly more ignorance & in difference. I personally had not made up my mind whom I was going to vote for until Saturday evening & there are ALOT of people like myself in that respect. For me & for many others I’m sure, this PSA was just an affirmation of the MULTICULTURAL appeal of Senator Obama across racial & gender lines. I think THAT is the most important message of the video, NOT that any celebrity is endorsing ANYTHING or anyone. However being that there are celebrities in it, it just MIGHT make the ignorants & indifferents stand up & take notice of just HOW important this election this year is to ALL of America.

It strikes me at least as interesting that “democrats” and “progressives” are now using a republican argument about celebrity. . That their endorsements don’t matter, that their biased, etc etc. . but the reality is some of the greatest or at least most visible champions of issues today like Darfur . . rebuilding homes in New Orleans. . the reality of child soldiers are all celebrities. . from the jena six, to water for life. . vote or die to rock the vote. . celebrities have been part of democratic/progressive politics for much of the last 50 years. Am I the only one who remember harry belafonta and danny glover were and are not just activists? They are celebrities. How bout Angelina Jolie, Brad Pit, Clooney, Kanye, S. Carter. . or dare is spell them Schwarzenegger and Regan?
I am not suggesting that artists should decide who you vote for, but it just strikes me as disingenuous when people are critical of artists for not taking stands, and then when a small group of them take a “stand” or at least agree to appear to support a political leader who is promoting the idea that America can be a great nation. . not just for a few of us, but for all of us. That black, latinos, asians and whites PEOPLE. . not just the “leaders & Representatives” can move this country in a new direction. . we must accept that while a few lives continue to get better the majority of all people continue to suffer/struggle. . or live in fear. .or are encouraged to continue to not see that all our lives and futures are tied together. . and that we can sit at a table of brother/sisterhood and change the direction of the country. . and honestly. . It’s really very interesting that all of a sudden celebrity endorsements have come under fire, when in EVERY other presidential race, they have always been sought after and pursued.
Might it be because now there are more celebrities of color stepping up, and even more because they are supporting a candidate of color?
It could be the stifling silence of some of the more vocal celeb politicians who because they aren’t saying anything, that says a WHOLE lot.
