What a surprise another Obama post!!!!!! SMH typical bias.

Now that Edwards is out I guess I will vote for Hillary now, I don’t trust Obama and his followers are so brainwashed by his message of change that they scare me.

You know what it would take for Obama to win…if Jay- Z and Wayne (debatable) said they’re voting for him, yeah diddy did the whole thing, but he doesnt havent the star power, but let Jay start a campaign, its a wrap…I honestly believe that

its sad that black folks as a whole aim to take someone down and even when a topic that will forever change us is at hands they cant take it seriously enough to keep the comments relevant, all i can do is shake my head in sadness, but not defeat

i have hope for change which is soo needed why vote for someone based on skin tone when they have no interest of doing anything for you ? how blinded you must be

I agree with #9 Jay-Z got power but not to get the whole damn country voting and making significant change for Obama and Lil Wayne i love the boy lyrically but if he got involved in this the Clintons will have a field day bringing Obama down with that Lil Wayne could end Obama Presidential Campaign not get it up and running. But back to the music video I like the idea of it, defintely interesting and thought provoking.

I just want people to realize the power and brilliance in this message. To take these words and make them song is brilliance. Think about it: there are about 1000 songs you’ve heard three times, and you know the chorus to every one.

Now, “Yes, We Can” will forever be synonymous with Barack Obama. If this video gets airplay on Monday and Tuesday at BET and MTV and it continues to get the buzz it’s getting all over the internet, best believe it will get voters out to the polls and caucuses in favor of Obama.

Music has a powerful, profound effect on people, and right now, all Obama supporters need to be thankful for these artists, actors and celebs who made this video, especially will.i.am ….

i thought this was a very powerful video i was surprised my self at all the people that were in this vid. i hope that people who are so against Barack see what we see..not just as whites, blacks, aisans, hindus, indians, latinos, chinese. but as a UNION!!! Im not bashing any other candidate thats running but Barack just has something different to offer. A voice to all people. Middle class low class high class and all people..that is what Bush failed to do is give all people a voice. Barack is someone that is speaking from the heart and hearing everyones voices..YES WE CAN!!!!!

Really POWERFUL & emotional piece. I think that one thing that needs to be taken from the video is that people of ALL races, creeds, colours etc are voting for Senator Obama because we need something DIFFERENT than the status quo bs that we have been dealing with for the past 8 years!!!! I hadn’t decided whom I was voting for until today & this just solidifies my selection. Thanks CL for putting this up tonight. Its greatly appreciated!!!

I seen this for the first time earlier today and I loved it. Beautifully done, it gave me goosebumps. Barack has a way of speaking that is like none other in recent memory. His delivery of his speeches are amazing and this video shows that. Kudos to Will.I.AM….

And someone brought up Jay-Z and Lil Wayne? So now we’re depending on rappers to get people to vote. ROTFL! I’m too through with this post already. If Obama is looking for “starpower” he already has the ultimate “star” indorsing him….Oprah! You don’t get much bigger then that….but I also think its sad that people will vote on someone simply because a star tells them so…I mean really, people need to get their own minds and stop it already.

Concreteloop isn’t biased when they report when Barack wins and when Hillary wins. I’m proud that they actually see how special and brilliant Barack is. Barack brings so much to the table and if you don’t recognize that, there’s only one explanation for it, you haven’t done your HOMEWORK! So instead of handing out insults, use your time more wisely and learn about him before you attack with your ignorant negativity. To those people who see it and get it….Barack Obama!!!!

I agree with number 8!
& Its not about hillary being a women or Obama being black its about who has America’s best intrest at heart. You would think after having a president like Bush that people would get serious about who their chosing to be our president but it doesn’t look as if that has happened. Hillary & Obama are over hyped & Obama is only using the rappers and music because he knows that the music is a big influence on people, so he used that to his advantaged by trying to get hip-hop artist to work woth him on his campaign and other celebrity’s. I really wanted Ron Paul to wil i really do believe that he really was sincere and could get the job done the right way. I do not believe that obama has a good plan for us Americans and Hillary seems to weak to handle a job like this.

will.I.AM. in an interview with ABCnews said that he was inspired by the speech so he wanted to do a song and word got around the celeb circle about it that they wanted to be part of the video.

the video was directed by bob dylan’s son

obama didn’t have any idea this song was being made

Hmmmmm…I like this video for some reason….extremely repetitive..but you can’t say you CANT do anything after seeing this video…=D

YES YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe, Hill C. & Barack should do like a 50 vs. Kanye thing…like…whoever loses…them AND their spouse will fall back on any political activities until 2012…or until the next president is done with their term…whichever comes first…

Idk…might get more of “us” out to vote…like it got more of “us” to purchase Ye and 50’s CD’s instead of burning them…

what ya’ll think?

37.

C'mon

Sunday, February 3, 2008 /

okay so, im wondering why everyone keeps saying that this video is too repetitive, every other song you hear on the radio is!! Iits funny how we say vote for issues not for color when we finally get an opportunity to change history books, we cant dull down the fact that having a black president would change the world, and could possibly change the ideology of black people. Since blacks came to this country we were treated like animals, and even after been released from slavery we were treated worse. Now look at us, we hate on each other, who knows when we will ever get a chance to see a black man run the country because yes it VERY important to vote on issues, but maybe we should also vote on chance. Im 19 and I would love to look at my future son or daughter one day and say yes my generation elected the first black man president, and it was our greatest decision.

#1, if a video would make you not vote for someone…smh…makes me doubt you were ever going to vote at all.

I did not realize Obama was such a powerful orator, and I love the words to that speech. LMAO at people posting about vote on the ossues, not his skin color…hello…the issues that the candidates talk about really don’t matter…lol..they will heve the House and the Senate to deal with regarding those.

IMHO You should be looking at the integrity, professionalism, spirituality, and yes their vision or message. I love Hillary, she is a powerful intelligent woman, but politically she sounds like a parrot. Trite, pat answers. It will be Obama and McCain…I am voting for McCain because as a soldier he will noo send my brother to Iraq again without damn good reason.

Besides…and when are you going to explain about this J., the popular vote doesn’t elect the Pres anyways. Did we learn nothing with GW? How about changing that ish.

lol I’m sorry but I got NO indication from anyone here that they decided to vote because these celebs said whom they were voting for. What I DID see is either an affirmation of whom people where already going to vote for or anger because people are voting for Senator Obama, or still sadly more ignorance & in difference. I personally had not made up my mind whom I was going to vote for until Saturday evening & there are ALOT of people like myself in that respect. For me & for many others I’m sure, this PSA was just an affirmation of the MULTICULTURAL appeal of Senator Obama across racial & gender lines. I think THAT is the most important message of the video, NOT that any celebrity is endorsing ANYTHING or anyone. However being that there are celebrities in it, it just MIGHT make the ignorants & indifferents stand up & take notice of just HOW important this election this year is to ALL of America.

Sunday, February 3, 2008 /

It strikes me at least as interesting that “democrats” and “progressives” are now using a republican argument about celebrity. . That their endorsements don’t matter, that their biased, etc etc. . but the reality is some of the greatest or at least most visible champions of issues today like Darfur . . rebuilding homes in New Orleans. . the reality of child soldiers are all celebrities. . from the jena six, to water for life. . vote or die to rock the vote. . celebrities have been part of democratic/progressive politics for much of the last 50 years. Am I the only one who remember harry belafonta and danny glover were and are not just activists? They are celebrities. How bout Angelina Jolie, Brad Pit, Clooney, Kanye, S. Carter. . or dare is spell them Schwarzenegger and Regan?

I am not suggesting that artists should decide who you vote for, but it just strikes me as disingenuous when people are critical of artists for not taking stands, and then when a small group of them take a “stand” or at least agree to appear to support a political leader who is promoting the idea that America can be a great nation. . not just for a few of us, but for all of us. That black, latinos, asians and whites PEOPLE. . not just the “leaders & Representatives” can move this country in a new direction. . we must accept that while a few lives continue to get better the majority of all people continue to suffer/struggle. . or live in fear. .or are encouraged to continue to not see that all our lives and futures are tied together. . and that we can sit at a table of brother/sisterhood and change the direction of the country. . and honestly. . I am an Obama supporter. . but not because I think he will do something for me. . but because I don’t believe he will stop me from doing the work that we all must do, and more than that I believe he will promote legislation that aids my labor. . not just my ideas. . we must be the change. . not expect him to be it. . I happen to believe that the job of political leadership is to serve the people and represent our interests and at the same to inspire us to hold them and ourselves accountable to our highest aspirations . . . but maybe that makes me brainwashed. . and if that is the case. . might I suggest to you the use of the same “solution”. . promote and be the change you wana see. . Nice Video… Good Message… it’s show the diversuty of people [celebrity or not who are supporting Obama].

It’s really very interesting that all of a sudden celebrity endorsements have come under fire, when in EVERY other presidential race, they have always been sought after and pursued.

Might it be because now there are more celebrities of color stepping up, and even more because they are supporting a candidate of color?

It could be the stifling silence of some of the more vocal celeb politicians who because they aren’t saying anything, that says a WHOLE lot.

I’m confused on how u think Mccain is gonna prevent ur brother from being invlolved in anyother wars! I guess thats somewhat true since he’s made it clear that he is in no way shape or form supporting any withdrawl from Iraq or entertaining the idea of a cohesive “timetable” of american departure ..so in away yeah your brother wontbe involved in anyother war because if Mccain has anything to do with it him and all the other troops will be stationed in Iraq idefinately!! I was appaled by that comment please folks lets grasp some facts!
Anyway the vid is cool , but most celeb endorsemsnts warranted or not recieve mixed reactions , escpecially from politican commentators but it does go to show at least Obama is inspiring people of all walks of life

@ 79 all of our founding fathers were Christians and this country was build on beliefs in God & God’s word and all of the Federal buildings and monuments in Washignton D.C. have Biblical verses on them. So with all do respect you need to do your research. Number 78 was not shoving their beliefs down your throat they were agreeing with number 5 and no one told you to read their comment. & do not put Godly value in quotes like it’s God’s faught for whats going on, it is the people so do not get the two mixed up. Monday, February 4, 2008 /

@ 80 GO RUNNING:

You have managed to say a whole lot without really saying anything. I asked #78 a simple question. Do you also believe you were rightfully enslaved? Let me preface by saying that unlike you, I do not acknowledge any of these men as a “Founding Father.” If you want to ascribe to a legacy that dehumanized you, by my guest. But don’t try to force others to share your perspective.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, you are wrong. George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson , Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Paine (especially) were all anti-clerical and highly opposed to organized religion. Secondly, United States citizenry is bound by the constitution, not some murals on public buildings. I suggest you do some critical reading.

Finally, there is no parallel between comment 78 and comment 5. Unless you’re trying to suggest that the Clintons are more spiritual than Obama, which would just be idiotic. I put “Godly Values” in quote because I was indeed quoting someone. If you’re going to attack me, make a rational assessment. I find zealots like you highly irritating. If you want to persuade someone, try making an intelligent argument for once. Fucking judgmental creep.

OBAMA IS OFFICIAL!!!!…HATERS, PLEAZE FALL BACK!

love this comment lmao

but yeah the video was nice and even if natasha is british its nice that she participated, our president has to deal with other countries so in one way or another it affects pretty much the whole world even if its not directly to her as an individual

and ppl need to stop assuming ppl are voting for Obama because of his blackness just because they happen to be voting for someone else like they are the only ones into politics

Yes, we can.

We have all waited for a leader who could unite us. He has arrived. Now it is up to us. We need to get behind him and support him.

If we don’t, we will get the age old divisive politics… and that includes Hillary.

Obama’s strong record and lifetime achievements show that he not only talks a great vision, but he acts on it as well.

Please give of your time, support, and, yes, donations if possible. however, if you do nothing else, talk to others. We need to do our part.

Yes, we can.

#6 chrissy…girl, what u smokin?? i’m gonna hope u were just kiddin

ok folks….this video is some bullshit…when the fuck will celebrities learn that they’re endorsements only discourage votes??? (save Oprah and a few others).

the dem party is seen as “too hollywood”….these days, “hollywood” represents a lot of things that the average american (who is on some farm in the middle of nowhere ) does not agree with (e.g. homosexuality).

i’m sure their intentions are good but they really need to educate themselves about the dynamics of politics and how they are actually sabotaging the candidate they support

ps: if the obama camp asked brad pitt to not endorse him, why would they need endorsements from will.i.am….and tatyana ali?? LOLOL

This is a BLACK blog, why do people keep talking about bias? This blog is created and targeted to BLACK people and what’s important to them. The whole media market is filled with white people and their politics if you want to go talk about Hillary then go to those sites, stations and channels.

I didn’t watch the video but I loved the speech so there really isn’t no need to watch the video.

@81 (Anti-Imperialist) — great post! Too many people don’t know their history and continue to repeat the ignorant sound bites they’re hooked on. You are 100% right about the founding fathers. I am so happy to see that no matter who of the 3 front runners winds up as president, we will be moving away from these hypocritical religious fundamentalists running this country into the ground and into war. Even the Republicans are tired of it and are nominating the most liberal/moderate dude in their bunch!

@3 (Chico Debarge) — LMBAO @ you!!! Looks like your son has a different name than you, but the post was funny nonetheless.

Re: the video — very nice — a little corny (like most of these types of videos usually are) — but it was nice.

Obama is surging like crazy and I am LOVIN IT!!!!!! Yes we can. Oh hell yes we can.

It doesn’t matter how much of a war hero Mccain is, he is wrong on the war and we do not need anyone in the oval office after bush, wanting to stay in Iraq for 100 years. Now if billary gets the nomination I will stay home, and who ever wins will win.

billary is not sure how long it will take her to bring the troops home, she might be hood winking the gender voters. all of the women voters and name recongition voters need to rethink your vote.

don’t vote for billary just because she is a woman,
don’t vote for billary just on name alone
don’t vote for billary because the past the good ole ninetys was good to you.

this is the urgency of NOW.

Barack is the only one to bring this country and the world together.

By the way in case our memory is short, It was bill clinton who did away with affirmation action in colleges. Now even if you do everything your teachers and parents tell you, you bring home excellent grades. their are public colleges,(not black colleges) that will deny blacks because they can.

Look at UCLA, 5000 undergrads in 2006 out of 5000, 96 were blacks just about all atheles.

Affirmation action is still needed in america, otherwise colleges will be harder than ever to get into, not because you did not qualify, but because they no longer have to accept you.

I found the Yes We Can song for the iPod, Zune and Sony PSP over at http://www.RadtioTAGr.com

Anybody calling this song annoying is clearly a shill. It is a beautiful song and video…it couldn’t be more opposite of annoying. It is inspirational….period. And, note tht Will.i.am edited it carefully to be beautifully positive. It is a an apolitical message of Post 9/11, Post-Clinton, Post-Bush HOPE and Optimism. This is a great nation. Enjoy the song and video… You are welcome (-:

Amazing video, it is awesome how many people of difference cultures came together to successfully produce this video. I think it is worth repeating the “yes we can” message,” over… and over… again. It takes that long for some people to get it! The message…. “yes we can come” shows how together we can work toward creating a better world for our future, our kids and America. Freedom is not a destination, it is a journey. Coalition building is an essential tool for humans to be able to create goals and unity, toward a common ground for all of God’s children. Peace and Blessings, Obama and Biden.
