Haven’t heard much from Miss Blu Cantrell in a long time, so it’s so interesting to me that she decided to take the instrumental from the popular crossover hit, “Apologize.” The track, which appears on Timbaland’s Shock Value album, was recorded by OneRepublic and the original version appears on their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud.
I’ve gotta be quite honest: I hate Blu’s version. That song is beautiful to me and it’s just not meant for all of that. Not only that, what is she supposed to doing – or what is she trying to do? Is there a new album in the works for Ms. Cantrell? In any event, it’s just way too much over the song. But who do you think sang it better?

I am soooo not feelin’ Blu’s version. I agree with you Brian, I absolutely love One Republic’s version and I think that Blu did just a little too much. The original has a simple yet beautiful sound to it which in my opinion grabs your ear…sorry Blu. I’m a fan, but not on this one.

one republic is more talented so of course theirs is better. she’s oversinging it, it’s a sweet song, calm down with the vocals. anyway i think the best version is the original, the one without timb and then timb’s is second and after i take blu’s song off my browser, i’m gonna act like it doesn’t even exist. oh and blu killed her own career. she was always trying toooo hard to be sexy and “cool” and it was just fake. plus she’s a cocky chick so of course no one wants to listen to her

Umm I guess the song isn’t horrible but if you can’t top the original I think you shouldn’t try it. It’s almost like she was trying to sing really hard but her vocals don’t allow her to belt like she really wanted to and it made her end up sounding scratchy but too heavy at the same time. Yeah I agree I do not like the Blu Cantrell version of that song. It is too much, I agree. I love Republic’s version. I noticed now more then ever people are covering the same songs, when most of the time the person who first puts it out there sets the tone for the song. Like Rihanna’s Umbrella v. Mandy Moore’s version.

I kinda like Blu’s version. I agree that her voice is scratchy, but it’s like there’s more power behind her voice. One Republic’s version is very good but I FEEL the heartache from Blu.
