On MTV and Bad Boy’s fourth installment of Making the Band, Diddy chose Q., Brian, Robert, Mike and Will for his new all-male R&B group, titled Day 26. I was never really into that season of Making the Band 4, but on this new season, the boys competed head to head with labelmates Danity Kane and solo artist, Donnie, recording their albums at the same time, and even fighting for tracks. The boys went through it on a couple of episodes: from fighting, to be banned from the studio and going through what they described as “intensive” vocal training with Ank Rah. But here they are with their self-titled debut album, Day 26, which hits shelves, Tuesday, March 25th.
I am actually more impressed with the boys’ album than I thought I would be. Some of the songs have a very ’90′s feel to them, vocally. And the boys definitely get a chance to flex their vocal pipes and let people know what they’ve got. Album stand-outs include the first single, “Got Me Going,” the Bryan-Michael Cox-produced “Are We In This Together” (posted above), “Exclusive (No Excuses),” “What It Feels Like It,” and “Don’t Fight the Feeling.” What I love about this album is that I remember them recording the songs on the show, and hearing the finished product.

From what I heard on Making the Band, “dem boys can sang”. They got a couple of bangers. Puffy didn’t spare any expense on getting hot producers for this album. Only time will tell how they do in the industry. I will be buying the album. I’ve been missing that male group element in my R&B. When is Donnie’s album dropping (Not that I’m buying it)? Damn did dude fall off ready?
@#6 I agree… they could have been a bit more polished on TRL…However I have no doubts in their talent. I think they may need a bit more training than Danity Kane did as far as public apperences (speaking, answering questions etc.) and they still need to mesh a little more to have a more of a group vibe, but i think that Day 26 will suprise us at how far they get….i like them…

i like this song a lot. from what i heard on the show, the album should be nice. has anyone else noticed that on the album cover, mike’s head is on someone else’s body? that doesn’t even look like his real head. it reminds me of a dreamgirls poster where jennifer hudson looked almost as small as the other girls.

That dayum Diddy is a genius. I dont think they would have been so well recieved if it had not been for this last season on MTB. Im definitely feeling the album which has already leaked. But I will also be supporting these brothers and buying the album.

I got lucky and got Day 26 when I went and picked up DK (Target messed up and had 2 copies of the boys’ album already on the shelf). Day 26 album is pure hotness! All of the tracks are stand out tracks! Very sexy R&B. I still can’t tell who’s singing (w/the exception of Rob, b/c his voice is more raspy) but I Love it nonetheless! Good job guys!

The groupe poppin’. Willie & Q, on all star level. Mike, manages to work the extra stuff and still be on all star level. As for Rob & B, they need to work on their image a bit, when I look at them, I dont think of ”Oh my damn, they are certified hotness” and thats the first thing that usually comes to mind when I see a boyband. In spite of the whole image thing, somebody should call the fire fighters ’cause damn the songs are fire!

I’m feeling Day 26. I hope they blowupshuate!! To be honest the best look right now is to do a reality show then drop an album, guaranteed platinum status. I believe Diddy is attempting to make them like one of the greatest male groups of my time, New Edition. So I’m hoping they can feel some of this new school bullsh** shoes!!!

I love Day 26 album. I have very good taste in “real” music, I may add and I’m very happy with the flow of the album. The only issue I have with the album is “Come with me” bridge, I’m not sure who voice it is, I’m thinking its Big Mike with the notes not being hit right, it sounds flat. Sounds like it wasnt mixed down well enough. I liked all the songs other than that. I’m very impatient when listening to an album because I agree with Dr. Dre when he expressed that a good song should be jumping when it begins the first few seconds, it dont need to grow on me. I can say Day 26 album keeps my attention. I have thousands of CD’s I’ve purchased over the years that made me stopped buying new ones a few years ago because everything is so damn wack that i’m down to picking album limits that I will ONLY buy for the year which is only 2-3. Day 26 has one of these lucky spots in my collection for the 08.
I love all the songs except the one with DK and Exclusive (I’m not feeling that pop stuff).

Yeah the vid was kinda tacky n maybe they just shouldn’t dance but their material n voices are on point. IMO Danity Kane’s dancing is way better than day26 but they’re voices aren’t as good. Only 3 can sing well in tnat group shannon n aubrey are just mediocre. Plus all Dk’s songs sound like they have similar beats.
