Angela Bassett (pictured with her husband Courtney B. Vance, son Slater Josiah and daughter Bronwyn Golden), was honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday. Many celebrities came out to support the talented actress, including: Laurence Fishburne, Forest Whitaker, Rick Fox and more.
Here is a snippet from Angela’s speech today:
“Do you ever have one of those days? I woke up and the sun wasn’t really shining but then it burst through the clouds and it was glorious. Hallelujah!” Bassett, 49, exclaimed to the crowd at the ceremony for the 2,358th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“I am crying now, I cried yesterday and the day before. … This day is so, so special to me.” [ read more ]

Lonnnnnnnnnnggggggg overdue. This lady deserved this star years ago. It’s about time they gave it to her. She is so underrated because she refuses to take just any role. Tina Turner, Waiting to Exhale, the movie where she was al pacino’s wife, she was killing those roles. Love her and congrats.

No one is more deserving than this beautiful, wonderful human being and actress. On top of that, she kicked Ike Turner’s ass…. Oh, that was just a movie. It brought good memories to see she and Fishburne together. I still watch that movie, they were excellent in it.
Congratulations to a wonderful, superb actress with integrity. Angela Bassett may not receive all of the accolades she truly deserves however, I will always acknowledge her because she does not settle for mediocre roles and acts excellently in every movie she is in.

She really DID deserve that Oscar…and Laurence deserved one, too… IT was a phenomenal movie, the only poster I was ever allowed to hang in my room. Of course, I subsequently threw a tempter tantrum and ripped it down, tearing it to shreds…but boy was it beautiful while it lasted…oh well…

Why do black people have to disrespect Halle for getting an a star? I think Halle is a good actress as well as my girl Angela. Both ladies have been repping for a while now. Angela Bassett is one in a million. SHE DESERVES THIS HONOR. She is one of our few starlets that spoke out against the stereotypical roles handed to black actors. She holds herself with pride. She will be able to proudly show her children EVERY movie that she has every starred in. (SOME OF OUR ACTRESSES WILL HAVE SOME EXPLAINING TO DO TO THEIR CHILDREN IN THE FUTURE…). I love an intelligent black woman. She went to the same university on a full scholarship that our president attended. GO GIRL…

“Eat the cake Anna-mae! This cake good….lol….I went to see Meet the Browns over the weekend and it was a great movie. I do agree that Angela Basset has been seriously slept on in the industry. She is a phenomenal actress and deserves all the joy, happiness, and success that is coming her way. I’m sure she would like a little more attention given to her movies but I think its more about the art than the fame. Both her and Lawrence Fishburne are my inspirations.
I think I’m gonna go watch What’s love got to do with it now. lol
