@ 11. I’m assuming they are targeting the younger crowd (i.e. elementary and middle school girls). If you peep their line of bags, it just looks real young. I wouldn’t rock their sneakers because they just look like rip-offs of other brands. Can’t knock them though, because they are doing something right.

The Simmons Sisters are doing their thing… there are a lot of upstart businesses that wish they sold $15 mil the first year. Congratulations to them.
As far as the obligatory question “who wears/buys that sh!t”? folk say the same thing about Sean John and Rocawear and they are still grossing over $200 and 300 mil a year.
Ever consider the world is bigger than your fashion circle of friends?

THE POINT IS:
***They are positive woman
***They represent us well
***They are trying to make their OWN money
***They are not drinking and driving
***They are not showing their behinds
***They are not doing drugs
THEREFORE, we shouldn’t hate.
The target audience is middle/high school.

On a positive note, at least they’re at the start of creating a legacy for their future generation. I just hope their kids become inspired to do something uplifting with that legacy. Lord knows another sneaker line is not going to help save the planet.

I know those shoes are hot in NYC, their all about colors out there. #15 was so on point with that comment. Even though I don’t like the shoes, I’m not going to say anything negative because they are young black females making money. They don’t have to show off their bodies or better yet, sell their bodies to advance in that type of industry.

Wow a year already. I’m very proud of them and happy they sold 15million in their first year. All the negative comments just don’t make much sense to me. I think the sneakers are cute for little children rather than buying your child a pair of jordans just to say that your child wears jordans. They are young black women who chose to go out and pursue something rather than bite off their dad’s money all of their life and I appreciate them for that. They also not out there shaking their behinds in some video.

I really like the Simmons’ Sisters, but I know I can’t be the only one who thinks the $15 million in sales is an exaggerated, publicity-driven lie. I have seen only 2 girls within the last year rock those shoes in my state. I live on the east coast, but maybe they are pretty popular in the midwest or westcoast????
I’m not knocking their hustles, but the shoes are poorly made. But their cool for the teeny boppers, high schoolers. I’m in my late twenties, so I would rather rock some fresh, well-made nikes.

These girls are very beautiful, intelligent, young respectable women. We should be supporting them and not tearing them down. They are doing something positive, productive and constructive with their lives. Its sad that we don’t get to see news stories about the good that black celebrities do in the media. Its ashame that all we see is these white celebrities breaking down, not wearing panties, and participating in other self destructing behavior. People no one else is going to support us (people of color) nearly as much as we can support our brothas and sistas….so please stop the hatin’

I agree with you #50!!! But that is exactly why I don’t believe they sold $15 million…because I haven’t seen more than 2 black people in the entire state of Maryland wear these shoes–and trust me i get around. When we as black people start opening our wallets to this African-American owned sneaker company, then they will actually sell $15 million in pastries..lol

@52 and 50 we don’t wear their sneakers but NYers and NJ people do. I know the East Coast has some of the most fashion forward and backwards people, but there are other states and obviously someone is rocking their shoes.
I do not wear multicolor anything, so it doesnt appeal to me, but if they toned it down I would support them because I like these sisters!
To the Simmons sisters keep doing you’re thing. Isn’t it great that these sisters have a positive image to counter balance people like the Kardashians (sex tape, naked pictures, inappropriate behavior) and somehwhat the Knowles (with the shot gun wedding and baby at 17).
I am older then them but I look at them as role models of what really having God in your life and a loving family can do.

Congratulations!! and of course adults arent the ones buying these shoes! I’m pretty sure the girls intended to market them to a younger crowd b/c they know that’s where the money is at. Smart move ladies, very proud of them.
on a side note: this post should be loaded with comments of congratulations, but instead, every other person has something negative to say. This is why we will never come up as a people, we really need to do better.

To everybody who is saying “i dont ever see anybody wearing them/how could they have made that much money” - people dont realize that the $$$ market is ages 17-24 right now, those are the people who spend money, which is why iTunes has damn near taken over music industry sales as quick as it has - its why Soulja Boy, Raven-Symone, and LeBron all do the numbers they do with their brands, and i dont think its anything wrong with it - they are catering to their demographic, rather than Soulja Boy trying to make music for the older crowd, Raven-Symone trying to do movies with the current crop of black actors, or LeBron trying to appeal his sneakers to the older heads. Theyre basically staying in their own lane within their age range, and these 2 girls as long as the Runs House series has been on, theyre not that old either and are under 25, so it all works out in the long run.

I dont understand why people would hate on Vanessa and Angela, when they are successful young ladies who are well prsented, do not ride off the success of their father and are successful business women.
Its a shame that the media barely ever talk about these girls apart from CL and a few other black blogs, they never get any shine anywhere else whilst the likes of Kim Kardarshian who fucks for fame, so does Paris and all those other hollywood girls, and they live off their fathers wealth. Whilst Angela and Vanessa do the opposite they make their own money! They should be applauded not criticised.

I really wish you people would stop hating so hard…
Pastry’s are only made in adult shoe sizes as for now, so for them to sell 15 million it couldn’t be to a bunch of elementary school kids. I am Vanessa’s age and I have a pair and am about to purchase a couple more. If you people knew how to dress you would be able to rock the hell out of them. Everytime I wear them I get stopped and asked about them from doubtful people, like yourselves, who realize how nice they look. I like them because they are not your everyday shoes. I’m too grown to follow what everyone else is doing. I like to be different.
So stop hating and be an individual. Don’t be mad cause you can’t come up with a shoe design that will sell 15 million in one year!

I LOVE Angela’s dress…but really…someone who dresses like that, sells garbage like “Pastry”? The last time I saw my little cousin she was wearing Pastry shoes and a Pastry backpack/purse. I thought both were hideous! But little kids will wear these shoes, maybe kids in places far removed from cities where they sell other brands…I don’t know… My cousin is in one of the biggest cities in America and she was wearing them… So, I’m out of excuses. She was 15, though… So, maybe they’re target market is girls who haven’t come into fashion sense? I had at 13, but whatever lol

Whoever said that about Angela’s “blank face” you’re so right! Why is she attempting model poses at her party, anyway? I didn’t watch the show to know if she had a nose job…I do know she’s no better off for it…physically, I mean.. She just wasn’t meant to be stunning… Neither was her sister…she looks like at least a thousand girls I’ve seen over the years… Put all your eggs in the fashion basket ladies, because the looks thing isn’t going to hatch.

Please stop hating on the success of these young sistahs…they are making money in an honest way while projecting a beautiful & dignified image of not only young women but young black women. Take all that negative energy and focus on something positive and maybe you can gross $15 million too…

THE 15 MILLION IS AN AGGREGATED NUMBER. THEY SOLD THAT MANY TO DIFFERENT STORES AND VENDORS BUT NOT SALES AS IN PEOPLE ACTUALLY BUYING THEM. I AM HAPPY THEY ARE DOING THEIR THING BUT IM SURE WE ALL COULD DO OUR THING WITH RUN AND RUSSELL FUNDING AND MARKETING THE SHOES…NOW IF SOMEONE COULD GIVE THOSE KIDS SOME SPEECH LESSONS..THEY TALK LIKE THEY HAVE MUSH IN THEIR MOUTH!

I purchased a pair for my daughter age 7. She loves the Simmons girls.
I must admit the shoes are not made well. There is not enought leather on the shoe to make it sturdy. The material does not clean well. The shoes are cute but…
Sorry

SLEEPING BABY? DO NOT RIDE OFF THE SUCCESS OF THEIR DAD???
SWEETY HOW DO YOU THINK THEY GOT A SHOE LINE? THEY DIDNT WORK FOR 3-5 YEARS AND SAVE UP MONEY TO START A BUSINESS..THEY USED UNCLESS RUSS’S RESOURCES AND HAD AN EASY START IN THE BUSINESS..THATS LIKE IF DIDDY’S SON MADE A CLOTHING LINE FOR KIDS…BASICALLY ITS ALL THERE FOR HIM!
IM NOT KNOCKING THESE GIRLS..THEY JUST REALLY DIDNT HAVE TO WORK HARD, SAVE, AND RESEARCH ANYTHING..IT WAS DONE FOR THEM..ITS GOOD THEY ARENT JUST ACTING LIKE SOCIALITES..BUT ALL THIS PRAISE IS LIKE..PLEASE PEOPLE IT WAS PRETTY MUCH PUT IN THEIR LAP..
I HAVE SO MANY FRIENDS WHO WENT TO SCHOOL FOR DESIGN AND HAVE A REALLY HARD TIME TRYING TO BE ESTABLISHED…THESE GIRLS HAVE IT EASY SO SUCCESS ISNT UNBELIEVEABLE…I COMMEND PEOPLE WHO ARENT CELEBS OR KIDS OF CELEBS WITH SUCCESS BECAUSE THEY PUT IN BLOOD, SWEAT, AND TEARS…..

i agree they really didnt have to do much footwork as most entrepeneurs. its kind of like kids of actors who get roles. they dont have to do that much work. im proud of them but people are going a little overboard with the praising. realize that the footwesr industry costs money. samples, production, manufacturing etc. these girls did not have to put a dime into it or the marketing as well. i tend to send my praises to people who dont have a silver spoon in their mouth. you can call it hate if you want but there are so many peope who spend years in school, their savings getting samples made, and so much more just to get even a quarter of what these girls get.

Yeah I have a couple buds who went to school and worked as interns and under designers and still cant get their lines established or at least noticed. They are awesome designers but dont have the funding and limelight like the Simmon sisters. It is good to see these girls following in their uncles footsteps, but I dont think people are hating when they say that these girls had it pretty simple and didnt have to go thru as much as someone just starting from scratch. Im not a fan of the shoes or show but Im happy kids are rocking something that some positive black girls are a part of.
I wish some of my friends had an uncle in the industry of dad with a show to promote them, they would probably have 15 mil in sales too .and that is an over exaggerated number . That amount was sold to retailers, not people..but I hope they keep doing positive things with their lives!

However number 1 is right, the shoes are ugly!
The only thing that I don’t like about the Simmons family is that they make it look so easy. Angela wakes up one morning and decides “i wanna start a magazine!” and her father helps her get it done. ETC.

At a time when Britney Spears and her younger sister are basically senseless and untalented but yet, they seem to rake up all the media and news for their foolywang lives, Paris Hilton and her useless sister to boot…here it is Rev Run’s girls trying to hold their own.
I admire them, as young black enterprising women like them and Raven Simone are the young black future of our young women today!
I am SO proud of them! At at time when there is no morality or human decency left in the media and for young girls to look up….they are a shinning and good example for young women to follow!
I don’t know much about the shoes, however, here on the West Coast/Bay Area, I have not seen much of them, which means there is room for them to grow with marketing and franchising department store endorsements, etc. They are not leaning on Uncle Russ, or Auntie Kimora…they are doing it on their own!
God Bless them and keep them grounded and hopefully back to college one day soon!

I DONT GET HOW PEOPLE ARE SAYING THEY ARENT LEANING ON KIMORA AND RUSSELL..YOU CANT BE SERIOUS. HOW DO YOU THINK THEY GOT WHERE THEY ARE? WITH PLENTY OF HELP FROM THEM!
RAVEN SYMONE ON THE OTHER HAND BUILT HER EMPIRE HERSELF WITHOUT THE HELP OF RICH RELATIVES OR RELATIVE ALREADY IN THE BUSINESS. (EVEN THOUGH BRIT IS INSANE SHE MADE HER EMPIRE ALSO)
LOVE WHAT THE GIRLS ARE DOING BUT THEY ARE LEANING ON THEIR RELATIVES..NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT BUT LETS KEEP IT REAL. THEY GOT THIS FAR WITH PLENTY OF HELP! SOME PEEPS ON HERE ARE IGNORANT TO HOW MUCH IT REALLY TAKES TO GET A LINE STARTED. IT WAS ALL PRE-PLANNED..EVEN THE SHOW EPISODE..ALL OF IT WAS PLANNED AND BECAUSE OF THE SHOW THEY HAD PLENTY OF MARKETING. IT IS SO HARD FOR PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE RELATIVES IN THE MANUFATURING BUSINESS OR WHO ARE ON AN MTV SHOW! LETS REALLY KEEP IT REAL..CONGRATS TO THEM BUT ANY CELEBS KIDS CAN DO THIS( AS SOMEONE MENTIONED IF DIDD’Y'S KID WANTED TO DO IT)
LOOK AT ALL THESE STAR’S KIDS GETTING ROLES - ZOE KRAVITZ, RUMOR WILLIS (EVEN JULIA ROBERTS NIECE HAD A MOVIE , I BELIEVE THE NANCY DREW ONE) THESE PEOPLE DONT HAVE TO WORK AS HARD AND IT IS TRULY WHO YOU KNOW! I KNOW PLENTY OF PEEPS STRUGGLING ON AUDITIONS AND IN THE FASHION WORLD..NOW WHEN THEY BECOME A SUCCESS…THEY DIDNT LEAN ON NEONE!
I LOOKED AT THE SITE FOR THE NEW LINE AND ITS NOT A GOOD LOOK BUT IF THE KIDS LIKE IT, I LOVES IT!!!!!

Ive read some of the most ignorant comments ever. Angela has not had any work done, she lost some weight. The girls didn’t cut their hair to get a weave, THEY TOOK THEIR WEAVE OUT TO WEAR THEIR HAIR SHORT FOR A WHILE AND THEN THEY PUT THE WEAVE BACK IN!!! LMAO
and people mad hating on their success, but that is how it will always be. IF you got someone in your neighborhood that all of a sudden comes up whether its fashion or music, you know its going to be a group of HATING ASS HATERS talking about man their line is lame, man they song is whack.
So with all that said and done. CONGRATS and I am ashamed that ET or E! Network doesnt talk about the Simmons Sisters and Raven when they talk young Hollywood making millions because they don’t consider The Simmons Sisters and Raven young Hollywood which is sad, but this should just inspire more people of color to do big business!!

oh yeah, i forgot, you’re so right….yes, angela lost weight and that caused her nose to narrow greatly and change shape….please forgive me, i don’t know what i was thinking..nose narrowing and reshaping during weight lost happens all the time. In fact, i don’t know why people even get nose jobs, they should just lose weight and their nose will instantly narrow and be reshaped….silly me…

WHYASKWHY
I agree with you 100%
These are some really positive females, even though Angela posed for maxim magazine in a slightly revealing lingerie outfit and did a small love scene on some soap opera. Why are people critizing these girls? They don’t have sex tapes, don’t appear half naked with their ass on the cover of a men’s magazine, don’t F*ck around, haven’t had children out of wed lock, don’t smoke or get sloppy drunk, and haven’t gotten breast implants to flaunt like many black females celebs are doing now-a-days. I don’t buy their sneakers and don’t plan to, but I do wish them the best of luck and hope that they will continue to be themselves and very positive.

#15, you said it all. These sisters are positive black women doing the damn thing and people are hating on them. If they were being negative people would be calling them hoes and such. Show some support people! Damn, they are doing it big.
I wouldn’t personally wear their shoes cause it’s not my style and I’m not in their target demographic, but I like the fact that they started their OWN company and have been successful thus far. Good for them. I watch runs house all the time and they are always into some project. Go do the damn thing ladies for real.
I don’t see pastry’s in Texas but hey like everyone had been saying, someone is buying them. So kudos to them for making the cheddar the right way, bravo!

People are hating on the fact that they got it easy and others are struggling to get noticed. Yes that is unfortunate but it’s the nature of the business. Russell Simmons and Rev Run gave them the platform to launch their shoe line and had they not been related, they probably wouldn’t be where they are now.
They are where they are and give them some credit for not just using their name and riding with it. They are doing other things outside pastry and they are positive. Ya’ll know that they are also spokes models for Girl Scouts of America! Come on now if that isn’t a good thing then I’m dumbfounded cause some of you guys are saying some crazy negative stuff about them.
Let them sell their shoes and leave them alone.
