Giselle has a gorgeous high fashion look and though small she’s quite shapely. I think it’s the Victoria’s Secret deal (although she has more deals that any model in the world)…Victoria’s Secret is so skanky…It’s so bad the director has announced they’re going to take a new, classier direction. It’s because of Tyra’s Victoria’s Secret deal that I almost have to remind myself that she was a reputable model. Anyway, Giselle’s good… She doesn’t have the personality of Kate Moss, but she’s definitely a model…

I am not a huge fan of Alicia Keys but I do respect her gift so I can’t hate on her. She is very talented. She has a few songs from each CD that I usually like but no more than that. It is good to know that some one other then Beyonce can be on the cover of a magazine in another country. Dont’ get me wrong Beyonce is doing her thing and I am a fan of hers.

Janet is a legend so once again you have to respect her talent. I have not been a fan since PLEASURE PRINCIPAL and THAT’S THE WAY LOVE GOES. However, when she releases a song- I will always listen to see if she is going to come out with more soul instead of pop. I don’t understand why she sounds like she is trap in time. JD needs get her up to par with the rest of the game. It’s not her voice, hooks or bars it’s the beat. When I go out to the club her songs are not in rotation and I talking about hiphop/r&b clubs.

Ok so this “King Kong capturing the damsel in distress” on the cover of Vogue is offensive. Not only does this man look like an ape, but he’s got this good ole prize, a white woman on his arm. There are a number of black high fashion models they could’ve paired him with and other shots they could’ve used of him. At least put him in a suit. He carries a suit VERY well.

I saw Lebron’s cover yesterday. It looked weird to me to say the least. I was excited when I heard that he would be on the cover, but I noticed the (coincidental I hope) similarities between his cover & J-Hud’s cover with the mouths being open. I will note that Oprah’s cover did not require her to be in the same pose. The cover looks almost like too separate pictures b/c of his casual clothes and Giselle’s formal clothing. I also am questioning why it looks like she is running from him. It’s definitely something for the watercooler.

I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mines. I was wondering why have the media and television found that its more interesting to pair a black man/actor with a white woman/actress or black woman/actress with a white man/actor. Not that anything is really wrong with this. But we haven’t really got use to black on black love, fully. Yes we have seen it here or there but this have been going on for quite sometime now. We love each other too. Even though I do know every race have their beauty, I love mines as well.They have more interracial couples on television programs than black couples. We don’t really have any black programs on tv as much as we use to. I don’t get it. Just wondering. That’s why I don’t really watch tv as much as I use too. I don’t really relate to much of the programming.

i feel that vogue are trying promote their ‘cosmopolitan’ image… fair enough… but placing one of the worlds most famous athletes on the cover AND PLACING HIM IN SPORTSWEAR… shows a serious lack of understanding, almost belittling the guy and his international appeal. they are introducing him as a sports player… based on the assumption that nobody knows him, and that he needs to be ‘explained to the world’ via a basketball kit and basketball… as a basketball player.
as a journalist myself, it feels like a 1dimensional gesture, as vogue is essentially a fashion mag…. so not only should the cover guy look stylish,,,,, he should be a reputable or undiscovered style icon. why are andre 300 / kanye / will i am, so on so forth not on the cover?…. because they undermine stereotypical depictions of black men….. they are not sports players, gang bangers, p.i.m.p.s or fundamentally….PROPS.

First of all, I am not angry, just bored… And, secondly, you’re impressed…okay. Rap, Basketball, universal appeal, and three piece suits, was it? Yeah…well, I don’t care…still doesn’t seem meaningful…because how does it help us? Is just entertainment…it’s minutia. Oprah, on the other hand, worked hard to get into SCHOOL and worked hard in school to get an EDUCATION…You seeing a trend? SCHOOL, SCHOOL WORK, EDUCATION… these are the things black kids should want to do because even if he/she discovers he’d rather follow some alternative course, all the knowledge he’s gained is surely never wasted. And, some might argue that it is only in learning about the world that one comes to know himself. No matter the end, the means are worthwhile themselves. Now, I can hardly say the same for basketball and ebonics set to music.
