Quite frankly, I think Michelle is an artist who looked at the opportunities available to her and took the one that made the most business sense - I mean, I believe she understood that she could not compete with Beyonce as a soloist in RnB or Pop. She is a singer, there was a void in young female falsettos in Contempary Gospel - she filled that void and did very well, extremely well.

She parlayed that success and her success in DC to gain notoriety and opportunities in theatre - and she did that well too. She created a path that was independent of Beyonce - and now she’s is just continuing to take advantage of the opportunities.

She has always done secular music - look at the DC lyrics — Like many of the RnB artists, she is christian, she grew up singing in the church - but she’s an artist, and she capitalized on an opportunity that was put before her. I don’t think she’s confused, and most christians get their understanding from the Bible, not the Billboard 100. No matter what she is doing - GOD is still GOD, and if she is singing his praises and sounding good, it’s worth a listen.

C’mon now, even Diddy has at least two gospel songs - and they are good, but he ain’t trying to lead a congregation.

At first I kinda slept on Michelle, like most of America, but honestly, after seeing Destiny’s Child live in concert, I got a chance to see and hear that she can REALLY sing! We’re soooooo used to hearing Beyonce yell/drown/TOTALLY OVERSING out the other two, that we forget that Kelly and Michelle may actually have voices too.
