NEW MUSIC FROM BRANDY

♫ Brandy - Dig This

Hey, Brandy fans! It’s long awaited new music from Brandy. The new track is from the upcoming Meet The Browns motion picture soundtrack and features a new sound for the singer. Personally, it doesn’t sound like classic Brandy to me, with the complex vocal arrangements and harmonies, but I still like it.

I’m assuming that Brandy is saving the real heat for the new album. A few insiders that I’ve spoken to say that Brandy’s new project is a beast, with productions from Darkchild, Bryan-Michael Cox and also some tracks penned by the talented Keri Hilson. “Dig This” is said to be produced by The Underdogs, who have garnered serious respect and success for their production of the Dreamgirls soundtrack. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Brandy.

Make sure you pick up the soundtrack from Tyler Perry’s latest film, Meet the Browns if you’re digging the latest from Ms. Norwood!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?

This sounds JUST like Mary’s song, what is it called. Be without you. The same concept. I mean I know many songs are about the same thing but this about the radio station, throw your hands up, real love, ick.

Brandy is Brandy not Mary. I’m not impressed.

RedBoneHoney, You sound like an ignorant, racist fool! You sound worst than white folks…..God help you! That is a sick attitude that you have about black people period! Brandy is a beautiful girl with a lot of talent. I’m a light skinned girl myself, and I think dark skin is absolutely gorgeous! So shut up!

I REALLY ENJOYED AFRODISIAC…THOUGHT IT WAS CLASSICAL MATERIAL HONESTLY! I ENJOYED HER BREATHY VOICE

BRANDY WAS THE FIRST TO EXPERIMENT WITH TIMBALAND NEW SOUND…BUT FOR SOME REASON HE GOT MORE SHINE FROM JUSTIN’S CD.

I HOPE PEOPLE DON’T PUT HER IN BOX AGAIN….I HOPE SHE’S STILL EXPERIMENTING WITH SOUNDS

20.

Wednesday, March 12, 2008 /

Her voice sounds pretty good and she’s really controlling her tone pretty well, but the song does not have a catchy hook for me. It sounds more like a song and subject matter that i would expect from kelly rowland, and that’s not saying much if u know what i mean. But shockingly i am really feeling ray j’s new song “Sexy Can I”.

LOL MARY? Brandy doesnt need to be Mary… LMAOOO
and this dont sound like be withought you

Song is hot can’t wait for the album

22.

SIIREN

Wednesday, March 12, 2008 /

This track was produced by Eric Hudson… primarily… with extra production by Harvey Mason FROM the Underdogs… but the Underdogs did not produce this as a collective…

And the reason it sounds similar to Mary’s songs is because Jonta Austin who is an amazing writer but not a versatile writer, wrote it.

Its like every other ghetto love ballad.

And I think the harmonies are complex… its just the way the harmonies… are mix… low in the background behind the main melody of the hook… theyre there though… just subdued and low…

This is very much a Brandy spin on a ghetto love song.

I absolutely love this chick and song!!!!!!!! It makes me wanna be in love with somebody…..but I can still represent for the man and the woman in love…..I’m definately diggin’ this Bran!!!!!!! I love it…Bran didn’t wanna give too much for the track…not to say that it’s not shittin’ on everything out right now b/c it is and the funny thing is it’s done so effortlessly…..No one else comes close to Bran when it comes to this music shyt…. We waiting 4 you B-Rocka…..Ya’ll be sure to purchase the track through itunes/billboard/mtv/bet/etc where ever u can……..support my girl!!!!!

Her voice is pretty nice and she’s controlling her tone and pitch very well, but the hook is not catchy enough for my preference. The sound and subject matter sounds more similar to something that Kelly Rowland would do, and that’s not saying much. On a different note, I am really feeling Ray J’s “Sexy Can I”. I remember when this brother/sister duo first hit the scene they could not cuss and their mother would not allow Brandy to wear midriffs. Oh how times have changed! Especially with that Ray J! He so nasty! LOL!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I strongly disagree….people were still hung up on Timbo/Aaliyah collabo….any female that was working her Timb would have got the same criticism. The production was electric and futuristic…same thing he did with JUSTIN. I believe Brandy CD came out before the BLACK ALBUM…i’m pretty sure of that.

No because in the Fade to Black movie he tried to sell Come As You Are to Jay-Z and he sold it to some other cat named Nio(Not Ne-Yo)!!! The stuff Timbo gave her was still urban while alot of the stuff for Justin and his Shock Value Album was Electro Dance/Pop sound!!!

The song is fire, and Brandy’s voice is on point. Speaking of which, why is everybody so hung up on catchy hooks? The point of the song, is to focus on the lyrics (which I might add are very well written). Not some catchy hook, and the rest of the song is empty fluff, and ain’t talking about nothing. I’m glad Brandy took the lyrical approach on this joint. It’s about the message. I’m glad she talked about something other than sex. Unlike most of these R&B girls these days, who, again, only focus on catchy hooks and sex to push to the public. It’s time for a change, and I think Brandy is just the chick to start the movement. Say what you want about Miss B Rocka, but she’s always made great music.

@ 71. Pop, Lock and Drop It and My Dougie are not bs. They serve their purposes just like this song does. Those songs were written to get people, mostly young people, to dance and have a good time and they serve their purpose. Just because you’re not a fan of the songs doesn’t mean that they are bs.

Brandy’s cool but this stuff sounds sooooooo 1995. That died out when “you know who hit the scene solo” LOL! Even Alicia Keys switched her shit up a little. R&B has become too bland & predictable for me. It lacks the excitement it once had way back when New Jack Swing & Real Love & SWV’s Anything & Mariahs Fantasy & Honey was out at that time. Thats when R&B had some kick, I dont wanna relive no damn Bodygaurd Soundtrack, or Sittin Up In My Room or none of that sappy shit, I want somebody to bring back that Feel Good R&B like Heartbreaker & Family Affair and stuff with Puff & JD on the remixes LOL!

TRUE

Wednesday, March 12, 2008 /

I really like the song. As always, her vocal delivery makes the song worth the listen. It is far from her best though. But why would it be considering that the song is on a soundtrack? I am so glad that she is coming back to the scene.

Whoever said that Afrodisiac sounds like reused Aaliyah tracks obviously have not listened to the album entirely. No disrespect to the late Aaliyah but she could not have delivered those songs anywhere near the way that Brandy does. Brandy knows how to OWN any song that she sings so that no matter who produces it, it will always sound like a BRANDY record.

Furthermore, Timbaland did not produce the ENTIRE Afrodisiac album and the only song that is even slightly reminiscent of an Aaliyah record is the ONE that you were referring to “Come As You Are”. If you can think of one I may be overlooking, please let me know. OH! I would also like to know which Aaliyah song(s) it sounds like because I can’t think of one. It seems that most people obviously don’t know that “We Need a Resolution” was the only song that Tim produced off of Aaliyah’s last album.

Do it B-Rocka!! That is a nice song. If you are not feeling the song it is because there is no cathcy hook, but she killed the song. The thing I like about Brandy is that she does her own thing. She is not trying to be like Beyonce, Ciara, Monica, or any other chick in the game. She is doing her and I am feeling it. Her vocals are great and if you really listen to the song, and not the hook she will pull you in. Listen to the words also, killing it. All I can say is that she delivered on this one and I am looking forward to a new album to drop, so I can hear some talent and something different. Not saying that the other women in the game ain’t doing their own thing, because they are - BUT they all have the same type sound. Brandy always delivers a great album from front to back.

This song couldnt have come at a better time- i’m 19 and i have a one year old son and a daughter on the way- my man stepped up and married me not only cause he loves me but cause he wants our children to have two parents together–this dude went and suprised my ass by joining the Air Force. I was like “what the fuck?” i was in shock- hes in bootcamp right now..I only spoke to him once since he’s left but he called and simply said “baby I dont want you to ever have to struggle or rely on your own money to take care of our kids- I got you baby- take care of my son and daughter- when I’m done i’m gon take u up outta ya mommas house and take care of yall the way a man should-” and that was it. I cried so damn hard

I love it and I’m glad she is back, she is one of few singers today and from the immediate past that actually hones her voice and I think this is a hot track and radio will love it not to mention she has teamed up with T.Perry’s soundtrack. She is one I’m glad to see back.

Some of you are overrating Brandy’s vocals, forreal. She’s not that great as some of you are making her seem. As an artist, she’s always been medicore, and vocally, while not bad, she’ will never be on Mary or Beyonce’s level.

Let me just correct a few of ya’ll……..This song doesn’t sound like the average RnB song………no Brandy song sounds like the average song…….everything That Brandy do is so left field of what the majority are doing…. so don’t you dare try to say that Bran’s sound is recycled…..furthermore….the song is like a mellow song……what was she supposed to do…….sing it like she singing “I WIill Always Love You”?? Come on now…….obviously for those of you who don’t know Bran’s capabilities vocally shouldn’t even speak b/c yes this girl is 1 of the best vocally period……..all of your favs will acknowledge that……..who do u think is @ the top of the list as your favs favorites????????? BRANDY……especially people who matter…….I can lists countless vocalists that mark Brandy as 1 of the vocal greats…..period……..so obvioulsly a few of you have wax piled up in the ears and need a cleaning…….Grandma always said don’t let that nasty ass wax sit in your ear like that…..maybe ya’ll just start listening!!!!! U did ur thing B-Rocka……I’m lovin’ this song and am waiting for that new bangin’ album……..Another classic to add to the collection!!!!!!!! B-Rocka 4 life******

TO JUSTSAYIN:

In my opinion Brandy’s vocals surpass Mary’s and Beyonce’s. I love the soul in Mary’s voice so don’t get me wrong. It took Mary a long time to get to the level vocally where she is now and she still is not “all that”. When Mary first came onto the scene it was not her voice that people were raving about you better believe that. It was her STREET IMAGE that captured most. And as for Beyonce while she has a lost of vocal ability, I can’t stand her voice most of the time. She choses to yell and oversing all of the time. Any one who has an ear for music knows that all of that is not necessary to be a good singer or to DELIVER a song.

That is the reason that people, like myself, rave about Brandy’s vocals. Brandy uses her voice as an instrument to COMPLIMENT the songs that she sings. She does what is necessary to make the song a good one.

^This is really true. For those of us who have followed Brandy all through her career and know each track off each album and not just the singles from ‘Brandy’, ‘Full Moon’ and ‘Never Say Never’ know how much Brandy has grown and evolved as an artist and know kinda how ridiculous it is to still expect her to be who she was when she was 15. As the original ‘Britney’ she was the epitome of bubblegum until real life got in the way and embued her with the pain and joy of real experience, she then had to grow away from that emptier music. She’s the mother of a beautiful daughter, weathered broken relationships and suffered something as harrowing as the alleged somewhat responsibility of a fatal car accident. If any of these so-called real artists have lived it’s Brandy, losing a little bit more innocence at every step while trying to still be that pure sweet soul we first took her to be. I know I haven’t remained the same unblemished soul I was when I first heard her at 13 and her true fans love the fact that neither has Brandy, she’s evolved with her audience, all of whom haven’t lived perfectly either despite probably trying to be those same ‘innocent’ people. She is one of the few rnb artists who can’t really be confined solely by that genre because her life experience won’t allow her to just get in the studio and just sing ‘touch my body’ a few times and pass it off as real music (no offence Mariah), she actually has something to say and unlike many of the artists of today has actually lived what she’s talking about and can convincingly sing about it. The people who haven’t rated Brandy since ‘Never Say Never’ I imagine haven’t ever had a negative experience and are still the same perfect people they expect her to have unrealistically remained all this time. Brandy’s a grown woman who sings to grown folk who have lived, loved, blazed, cried, hurt and healed all with an optimistic heart (I know that’s me and that that’s why I love Brandy deep). Lastly, none of this would mean a jot if her voice wasn’t truly one of the fiercest in the industry. Believe me, anyone who slept on Afrodisiac needs to revisit that album. From the intro to the outro it was like she finally stopped fronting (something Beyonce hasn’t done yet) and finally just told the truth about herself. If you couldn’t handle that truth then you truly are better off with the emotional artifice of talented but vacuous acts like Beyonce etc. Soon as life becomes other than picture perfect, Afrodisiac is THAT album.

^Meant to say:……….If you couldn’t handle that truth then you truly are better off with the emotional artifice of talented but vacuous acts like Beyonce et al who want your money and come heavy and hard with the pyrotechnics but ain’t feedin’ your heart. Soon as life becomes other than picture perfect, Afrodisiac is THAT album.

Black people are so sad, we are our own worst enemy. Why all the hate? Why not just say something positive or say nothing at all! Good grief, sometimes I’m so ashamed of being a part of this community.

‘08 - let’s try to be more positive of our own people trying to do something.

TRUE

Friday, March 14, 2008 /

TO TEFLON BOY:

I could not have said it better myself! Brandy is a true artist which is why she CHOSES to wait a considerable time between albums to put out something that is reflective of HER. It is not all about the money with her as it is with singers like Beyonce that put out albums simply because they are HOT right now and there is someone there that will listen to it. Every single Brandy album has been cohesive and it is evident that there has been a lot of time and effort put into each one.

People expect Brandy to be the same ‘girl’ she was when she was introduced to us. Realistically speaking, there is no human being alive that has had struggles who does not evolve between the ages of 15 and 29.

“Do you know how it feels to hurt behind closed doors and when you go outside you wonder what you’re smiling for?” Who I Am - Brandy

i love her vocals…they are amazing she not running aroug like beyonce hollerin and screaming in her music she’s a true vocalist, and yes kelly rowland was on wendy williams talking bout how she and bran not kool anymore because brandy kept it real with her ass and asked her why does she let matthew knowles treat her like a low case artist. and thats the answer because kelly is a artist that will never be relevant she aint even on brandy level the nerve of dat bitch
