♫ NE-YO – CLOSER (LISTEN)
Ne-Yo has already been gearing up for a new album! This will be album #3 for the songwriter. It seems that this new track leaked, “Closer,” is said to be his first single from the set, which apparently titled Year of the Gentleman. It seems that Ne-Yo has taken a clue and gone for a more pop-driven sound for the third album. Interestingly enough, I didn’t really get into the track until the beat dropped.
“I’m trying to take it back to where you couldn’t walk out of the house unless you looked your best,” the singer/songwriter recently told MTV News.
Even though I can’t say that I agree with this being the single, I am interest to see what direction Ne-Yo is going to take with this new album. I love his songs, and I love the material that he writes for other people – but I just haven’t been able to get with Ne-Yo as a recording artist for some reason. He’s one of those people that I love in the background. He needs to be working on getting his label together! But then again, he is one of the only men that Def Jam has these days…

It’s playable! It reminds me of “Torture” off The Jacksons’ Victory album (look it up). Don’t think it’s a single though.
i like it is cool has a nice club vibe to it and its also refreshing to hear him doing something other than a ballad.

Definitely a different sound from Ne-Yo. You were right about the beginning of the song… it didn’t interest me until he began to sing. Not bad though.

Man! Neyo is bad! I’m feelin this! This will be a hit in about 2 weeks! But it’s a hit NOW!!! It’s reflecting how music is evolving! I love it…reminds me of Rhianna’s “Please Dont Stop” and JAnet’s “Rock with you” …which he wrote. Go Ne-Yo!!

it’s not gonna flop so idk why ppl are saying that. i don’t like it but it’s just like riri’s single. it seems that pop is moving towards the whole dance era (you know when sonique’s “feels so good” and danni minogue’s “who do you love now” were hot). i love dance music so it’s a nice change but i think this song falls short

I like it, but I really loved how Neyo’s music was originally. It was like an uplift in R&B, but I can see where he’s going. I just hope the whole album is not like this. Neyo usually comes out on top though. His first and second albums did well so whoever said they were flops is false.
all of his songs are kinda the same to me…they don’t really sound the same beat wise, but they have the same message in most of them…i’m sure radio will put this in heavy rotation just like they do his other stuff.

Dont really like it, I would have to say Im disappointed that he’s jumping on the pop band wagon, wish he would have try to do something new instead of trying to recreate what he did with Janet’s “Rock With You”. It’s not a classic Neyo song, which is why I probably like it so much. I like to dance so this is right up my alley. They seem to be improving the sychronzing of the dance hall and rb beats. I glad becuz I was starting to get scared….

I’m alotting for him to do whatever he wants. I’m supporting it. By opening one’s mind they’ll accept things better. I mean, the songs on “Because of You” were a stretch for him. He admitted that. Yet, he wins a Grammy for it. Do what you will, Ne-Yo…I’m buying it for sure. No matter what it sounds like.

It is a off-beat from the usual Ne-yo that we are used to. But Im feelin it. As a artist, u can only realize your true potential when u step out of the box and out of your comfort zone and this song does it for him. I absolutely enjoyed it.
