JSCENE, I think the rereleases are an attempt to make up ground for all the bootleggers out there. If you havent noticed artists have to do twice the things they did before just to make the same money as artists in the past. She’s trying for an “Irreplaceable” like she did with Unfaithful (her version of DIL). Not a good look. This song wouldn’t be so bad if it were done by someone else that could actually sing. Rumor has it Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad CD will be re-released as a Deluxe Edition, featuring two bonus tracks and an original track called So Glamorous which will feature Beyonce. The Deluxe Edition will also feature a DVD of all Rihanna’s videos and clips from her tour which is still in progress. Word is this new opus will drop worldwide on January 15, 2008. No word yet who wrote and produced the single but I think it’s safe to say it will be hot. I don’t think either of these ladies would work with the other unless they knew they would have a guaranteed hit on their hands. Beyonce will hope to have another smash single like she had with Shakira, while Rihanna will hope to up her record sales which have been sluggish, despite her first single being a worldwide hit.

I personally look forward to the video. I love to see big female artists work together and Beyonce has shown that she can hang with another female without trying to compete of overpower them. How Rihanna will deal with Beyonce waits to be seen. Will she be able to hold her own on camera like Shakira did? Only time will tell. What do you guys think?

Other than Umbrella, has any of her other songs that have been released from this album been AS popular? She has what, three other singles that barely made a dent. I would like to see Rihanna expand her range a little more. She sings the same few notes the same way on most of her songs. This song follows suit. Its nice and will get spins but as an artist she needs to consider challenging herself by expanding her range in songs.

I disagree. If Janet did this it wouldn’t be a hit. Feedback was a hit (it peaked at 19) but radio and airplay never matches up. Thing with Janet is as she is getting older, it is hard to get her one radio as with Madonna and other legends. (No doubt 4 minutes will get on radio becuz JT is on it but that’s another story.)

The only reason Rihanna’s tours do so well in Europe is because she does the kind of music they like which is dance music. Anyone can sing the songs she did and do as well or better. i think this is all getting out of hand. Im a fan of both ladies and no one is claiming that rihanna is a better singer or as good as beyonce. The fact is, whatever formula rihannas marketing team is using is working. Thats the point people are trying to make. Its not about rihannas lackluster sales, its the fact that she is in such high demand. Whether shes original or not can be argued but beyonce isnt always original herself. Its also very hard to be completely original because there have been so many people that have done so much before us. And for people to say that rihanna will never reach beyonces status because she cant sing are FOOLS. Britney Spears can’t sing like Beyonce but she is considered a huge international superstar. At the end of the day its about your fanbase not who can sing better. Britney Spears Blackout album, had no promotion, sold over 2 mil copies worldwide, and was #1, #2 in a quite a few countries. Britney spears album sold 500,000 alone in the US and we all know home girl is a mess right now and isnt TOURING, DOING RADIO SHOWS, Television appearances…which is what an artist does to promote their album to get sales. Britney doesnt have to do shit and still sale records faster then Rihanna. Rihanna with no promotion probably wouldnt have sold 500,000 worldwide. The problem with Rihanna is that she never really had a fan base until GGGB. Now shes racking in fans left and right because of Umbrella and the new look. All Im saying its not about who has the better singing voice, or stage presence its about who has the solid fanbase. Real fans buy records, go to concerts.. Beyonce, Britney, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake all have huge fanbases. Rihannas career, though 3 albums in has JUST BEGUN. If she keeps pushing her way like she is now, one day beyonces team might not release an album the same time rihanna does because it might “affect” her album sales.. you never know.

How is it that Neyo and his partners can actually sell the SAME SONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN?! I really don’t get that… I have heard this song 4 or 5 times over the last few years and, frankly, I’m over it. So, thumbs down.
