The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has narrowed the list of finalists to lead the organization to three: Benjamin Todd Jealous, 35, president of the Rosenberg Foundation; Frederick D. Haynes III, 47, senior pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas and Alvin Brown, 37, a former White House official currently working on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Former president Bruce Gordon resigned March 4, 2007, after just 19 months on the job. He cited a long-running disagreement with the group’s 64-member board over how to steward the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization as his reason for leaving.

The NAACP board is scheduled to fill the position at its next meeting in May.

According to The New York Times, NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a high-priced prostitute at a Washington hotel last month.

Spitzer made a brief public appearance Monday to apologize for his behavior.

“I have acted in a way that violates my obligation to my family and violates my [sic] or any sense of right or wrong. I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public to whom I promised better.”

Spitzer gained national attention while serving as attorney general; he prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

During Spitzer’s news conference, a media mob gathered outside the office of Lt. Gov. David Paterson, who would become governor if Spitzer resigns. If Spitzer steps aside, New York will have its first black governor.

The North American Forum on Integration is gearing up for its annual North American model parliament in May which brings together future leaders from Canada, the United States and Mexico in order to sensitize them to the challenges of North American integration and to develop their sense of North American identity. To some, this sounds awfully like the North American Union.

If it is, the stage was set with the creation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994, which has created the largest trade bloc in the world. A report, titled “Building a North American Community,” by the Independent Task Force on the Future of North America — composed of 31 influential individuals from the U.S., Canada and Mexico — lays out the plans they have for North America.

According to a recent WorldNetDaily article, the heads of state of the U.S., Canada and Mexico now openly urge the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America to launch a public relations campaign to counter growing criticism of a step toward a creation of the North American Union.

Many believe George W. Bush wants to pursue a globalist agenda and create a North American Union, which would effectively erase borders with Mexico and Canada to create a new economic and political entity, like the European Union, which would have a single currency, the amero. According to “Building a North American Community,” at their meeting in Waco, TX, at the end of March 2005, Bush, along with Mexican President Vicente Fox and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin committed each of their governments to a path of cooperation and joint action.
