What is going on?! Sean Levert (brother of Gerald Levert) was found dead in his jail cell over the weekend:
Levert, 39, was taken from the Cuyahoga County jail in Cleveland on Sunday night after suffering from high blood pressure and hallucinations, but died within the hour at Lutheran Hospital.
Cuyahoga County jail, warden Kevin McDonough said Levert had been sick and guards were watching him at the jail’s regular cellblock because he had been acting strangely.
“There was nothing that would show any of this,” McDonough said. “He had an illness while he was here and it turned into an emergency at that time.”
Last week Sean was sentenced to one year and 10 months in jail for failing to pay $85,000 in child support.
Sean was the second brother of the R&B trio LeVert to pass away. Gerald Levert was 40 when he died in 2006 of an accidental mix of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. [source]

Hello, how are you doing, My name is Toya relative of Sean Levert, wanted to personally let you know that Sean Levert did not die in Jail, yet he was sent to the hospital and died one hour later(Midnight) at Lutheran Hospital. Right now we (the family) are devastated by my uncle death, and we wish thank everyone for the prayers and the condolences. Thank You Once Again.
This is very sad the world lost a very talented singer and two bury two kids with in 2 years has to be very hard. But we all know that Sean is heaven singing with his brother Gerald again.

Why wasn’t he paying child support?
It’s bad enough that one child precedes the parents in death, but two is just awful. Maybe they can draw strength from a lady in Inglewood, CA., who lost three sons inside of a matter of days. One son was killed and when the others were investigating what happened to their brother, they were subsequently killed. Mom is active in the community, trying to right some wrong behaviors involving our youths.
Dang that’s rough losing two children. My prayers are with the family.

too much death but that’s nature I lost my parents 3 years apart from each other plus my first cousin and my aunt which was his mom died a year apart from each other plyus my other cousin was shot in the back, and my other cousin in serving 10 yeears for bashing his moms head with a hammer and she is now a vegatble in a nursing home while my uncle died while slipping off a roof. my baby moms lost her second child in a premature birth and I don’t think I was the father, while I lost 5 of my other relatives to aids-hiv while my other cousin contracted hiv through his blind homosexual lover.

I just saw this on MSN.com and thought this has to be a joke. Just the other morning, I heard he was being sent to jail for back child support,now he’s not here. May God rest his soul. I know his family must be so heartbroken and devastated by this. May he rest in peace-with his brother Gerald.

Please forgive me but I think i’m too young to remember exactly what songs they sang…except, ‘written all over your face’ with Gerald Levert which still gets played out today (for me anyway) but its still such a loss, if not to the world but to the families especially in that way, makes you think doesn’t it. Was the money drama even worth it in the end? Now who ever was trying to claim money from him will have an even harder time trying to get it, I can only imagin the family drama now and wouldn’t wanna be around it. I’M PRAYING REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY HARD THAT HIS DEATH DID NOT COME EARLY DUE TO WEIGHT ISSUES, CAUSE I AM SO TIRED OF TALKING TO BLACK FOLK ABOUT THIS VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. I’M SO SAD THAT HE DIED, THIS FAMILY HAS ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH ALREADY LOSING A RELATIVE NOT TO LONG AGO. HOWEVER, I MUST IMPRESS, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, BAD EATING, HIGH CHOLESTEROL, HEART CONDITIONS, DIABETES, AND OTHERS RELATED DISORDERS TO BEING OVERWEIGHT IS TAKING US LEFT AND RIGHT.

WOW! this s terrible for this family. high blood pressure, & drugs. These brothers had some serious health issues it sounds like to me. That along with the added stress of getting locked up for owing & not paying all that $MONEY$ in child support.

THIS IS SO SAD ESPECIALLY FOR HIS FATHER EDDIE LEVERT BECAUSE HE JUST LOST A SON.
Back in the 80 Levert was the most copied group I can think of and I’m not just saying that. My group sang all of thier love songs; I am deeply saddend by this news and may God bless the family. It is important to take care of our affairs but no one deserves to pass on like this. Family keep your head up and and know that you can live on with blessings through this time.
When I got the call this morning, informing me about the latest news and the loss of Sean Levert, all I could do is reflect on the good times we had during my tenture as Producer of BET’s Video Soul. Sean and Gerald are my friends. Marc, Big Joe, Lil Joe and Daddy/Momma Levert, to the entire Levert family, keep your head up. God (for you Allah) will provide you with all the healing the family will need. I’m coming to Cleveland. My heart is so heavy, no need to say any more.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of someone so special, that have brought so much joy in the homes and hearts of many people. That have brought many good times to so many people. My heart and prayers go out to the father and mother of Sean and I pray that God give them the strength that they will need to get thru this very hard time in their lives. Now he can see his big brother and they will make now make a joyful noise unto the Lord together and may the peace of God be with their family. God bless!!
I can’t imagine the pain and confusion of losing two sons in a 16 month period… still grieving Gerald and now having to bury Sean…

R.I.P. Sean!! This was a shock, I too grew up on Levert. Only a year and four months since the death of Gerald. I know that their family is going thru a thing…..only GOD knows the reason…..

This is such terrible news. I feel so bad for eddie Levert, losing two sons in such a short space of time especially when both were just 39 and 40 years of age. Eddie, my prayers are with you and please just keep going strong
