On Wednesday, Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, and his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty, pleaded not guilty to perjury charges regarding an affair and using taxpayer money in an attempt to cover it.
They were released on $75,000 bail each, and preliminary examination has been set for June 9. If convicted of all charges, Kilpatrick could face up to 90 years in jail.
OBAMA RELEASES TAX RETURNS
Sen. Barack Obama released seven years of tax returns on Tuesday and his campaign criticized Sen. Hillary Clinton for not releasing her 2006 returns.
In a statement, Robert Gibbs, Obama’s communications director said:
“Senator Clinton recently claimed that she’s ‘the most transparent figure in public life,’ yet she’s dragging her feet in releasing something as basic as her annual tax returns. Senator Clinton can’t claim to be vetted until she allows the public the opportunity to see her finances — particularly with respect to any investment in tax shelters.”
At a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Clinton announced she would be moving the release date of her tax returns. The documents could possibly be made public within the week.

Obama’s campaign is billing a “major” speech about the economy which the senator will deliver Thursday morning in New York City, following remarks by Republican candidate John McCain on the housing market on Tuesday and Sen. Clinton on Monday.

About Hillary not releasing her tax returns for 2006 smells scandal…she has said that she would release her tax returns once she get the nomination. That right there turned me off! She duped these two gentlemen, and on top of all things, Bill Clinton and his business associates took Stan Lee and Paul’s business idea and sold it to an Asian businessman for his own personal profit. This case is due to come up in court in April. They have suppressed this case for years, because of Clinton Judiciaries who he appointed back while he was in office, kept throwing the case out of court. => They are sick and secretive, this is why they won’t release tax returns either!!

Wow this guy (Kilpatrick) deserves whatever he gets. I don’t understand how people do stupid stuff and when it gets put out for all to see they deny it and act as if they are a victim or something. Kilpatrick set his self up and took Beatty along for the ride. It saddens me to see black women allow men to use them, then throw them away. Beatty, who was in law school at some point, has possibly ruined her chances at ever getting a job in jurisprudence. Kilpatrick’s wife has to be embarrassed by her husbands actions but she continues to “stand by her man”, like so many women, while her husband clearly could care less about her. Maybe she is staying for financial security, but in my opinion, peace of mind is much more important than any money. I had so much hope for Kwame because you have to admit, the city was starting to come up. I remember during the superbowl that one year, I went downtown and went, ‘This is Detroit? Men almost always get the heat for affairs and cheating, but this woman knew his status. Never know, he could have said “Babe I think CB is hot.” and her response might have been “Me too!, get her over here….for us.” But he’ll never know because he tried to be sneaky and cheat, on his wife. At least it wouldn’t have been an affair if he and his wife did the deed. Don’t know if she’s into that, but he would know.
I guess what I’m saying is regardless to the charges, the biggest victim in this is not the taxpayer, the city, black America or KK, it’s his wife. She has to look at all day coverage of a strong black woman standing up for and by her man as he’s running for the top office in the land, while she herself is left defending a man who has given her the exact opposite platform and has humiliated her and their family for America to see. Taking her on tv to apologize was cowardly.

• Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. (She was in bed watching it on TV.)
• Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She admitted she was wrong. He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.)
• She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (A girl presented her with flowers at the foot of the ramp.)
• She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn’t cover the market back then.)
Whoppers She Won’t Confess To
• She didn’t know about the FALN pardons.
• She didn’t know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted.
• Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error.
• She didn’t know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so.
• She didn’t know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had.
• She opposed NAFTA at the time. (held several meeting to beat the opposition to get it done.
• She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.
• She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.
• She played a role in the ’90s economic recovery.
• The billing records showed up on their own.
• She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke. (worked to fiscredit Paula Jones and Jennifer Flowers)
• She was always a Yankees fan.
• She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons).
• She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were released the day before she got there).
