Sen. Hillary Clinton defeated Sen. Barack Obama Tuesday in the Ohio and Texas primaries, ending his winning streak and allowing her to continue in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Clinton also won Rhode Island; Obama won in Vermont. However, as we mentioned last month, Ohio and Texas were what she really needed.
Clinton has won some major states, but Obama retains a lead in delegates as he mentioned on CNN Wednesday. He said he had run strongly in states where he started at a disadvantage:
“We started 20 points behind in Texas and Ohio,” he said. He said he was not able to “close completely” the gap in those states, but he would continue to seek the Democratic nomination.
Clinton said her close race with Obama might result in a shared ticket. On CBS’s Early Show, she said:
“Well, that may be where this is headed, but of course we have to decide who is on the top of the ticket.” She said her victory in Ohio indicated that the choice should be her.

Clinton’s victory speech mentioned that “no candidate in recent history — Democratic or Republican — has won the White House without winning the Ohio primary. We all know that if we want a Democratic president, we need a Democratic nominee who can win Democratic states just like Ohio.”

Hillary won because Repub’s voted for her. McCain already locked up the nomination so they organized and decided they would cast their votes for her in the primaries because if she gets the nomination, McCain will win. WAKE UP PEOPLE! I live in TX and I voted early for OBAMA but when I went to the caucus last night it was crazy. I am a delegate for OBAMA and he won our precinct but that process is flawed. In BTW there are alot of hispanics here if they legal I dont know. One neighboring city Farmers Branch passed a law that it is illegal to rent to illegals and people who live in the city must pay to register to live in apts. I wish we had a law like Oklahoma, whatever the law is illegals are leaving there state in droves. My biggest issue will be immigration control. I am tired of having looking for jobs and constantly seeing Bilingual preferred.

PLEASE, before you just assume Republicans just went and voted for Hillary go read the exit polls at cnn.com or MSNBC.com and you will see that OBAMA not Clinton received the majority of the Republican vote of those who voted in the Democratic Primaries yesterday.
I was hoping that we would have a clean sweep, but anything worth having is worth fighting for! Senator Clinton has the white/rural vote as welll as the latinos who are voting for the “Clinton” brand. Maybe because it was the media and others who kept repeating how a president in the last 60 or so years hasn’t been elected that didn’t win the Ohio Primary. And as far as delegates go he is still ahead, but you still close to 400 supers out there that are uncommitted and eventually FL delegates (more than MI) will have to be seated.

#21: There are 4,049 Democratic delegates overall, and in order to receive the Democratic nomination, a candidate needs to win over half of them, so, at minimum, they need 2,025.
The same applies to the Republican party, but there are only 2,381 Republican delegates overall.

This is one annoying race imo. These super-delegates was such a stupid idea! Both democratic parties seem like they don’t really know what to do. Hilary’s campaigning and alligation against Obama get more ridiculous and Obama’s retaliation seems so sugarcoated. I wish both parties could come together because whoever gets the nomination will need the rejected Candidate by their side if they ever hope to beat Mcain and win the general election, which is a must! I just want to say I live in Ohio and I voted yesterday for Obama and I am just a
little concerned that the Urban communities (Cuyahoga County) had paper
ballots and the other communities had the electronic voting machines. Certain
areas in the urban community ran out of the paper ballots which caused some p people to leave and not vote because the weather was also bad (ice storm). They al also said due to the weather being bad they didn’t get the paper ballots back to the voting locations in time for some to vote. Just a mess if you ask me but you
didn’t ask me but I am telling it anyway because I am a little upset about the
whole situation. You have some people saying that if Hilary wins and is able to
run for President they are not going to even vote in November.

So one person knows what all those people did in Texas with any factual data and stats???? GO READ the actually polling and you will see that more voted for him in the Texas primaries. And in the general election NEITHER will get those Republicans cause they going to McCain. I woke up this morning to see a fellow Highbrid Nation writer reporting that Hillary has won the Ohio and Texas primaries and how this is getting bad. And like him I feel like this battle between Obama and Hillary has went on too long and now they are in danger of hurting the party by allowing McCain to take shots at them while they are dealing with each other. Howard Dean should step in and say “Look, Obama is going to be the canidate and Hillary you can be his running mate if you choose”…I know I know that would never happen but a guy can dream right?
I think its unfair to claim that people are racist because they are going for Hilary Clinton. I personally like both canidates, but I just feel at this time Hilary will be best suited for President and Obama run as her Vice-President. Those two combined would make a very strong ticket. There have been claims that McCain might get Rice to run as Vice-President to counteract their “Dream” ticket. I think Repubs will be making a big mistake, because this will seem like a ploy to attract black voters or an attempt to seem like a more diverse party than what they truly are. If they go all the way to Pennsylvania it will be interesting to see where the superdelegates are leaning. If Clinton wins that state she has a strong argument that she is most successful in Democratic states where we need to win for the general election, and some the states Obama has won has such a small percentage of democratic voters that we will more than likely lose in those states anyway in the general election. I just hope they work this thing out soon, because they both need to ensure democratic voters that inspite of their heated contest, the party as a whole is united and they are united as running mates on the same ticket. All in all her win continues to bring more interest to the Democratic party, the voter turnout is getting so strong and this bodes well for the general election. Voter interest is at an all-time high.

I agree with all you said, that is a dream ticket Clinton/Obama (in that order). She will win Pennsylvania and many predicting the other states surrounding like Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia and Puerto Rico. The delegate count is pretty much still the same, and she didn’t go any where.
Obama supporters need to hold their heads up high and do NOT give up. There is still a really good chance that Barack could take the nomination. If it shall lead down to the convention, the super delegates should play their cards right, and make Barack our Democratic nominee.

I am still rooting for Obama and waiting patiently to see how this race will turn out, it’ll be very interesting. I think I’ve stated my opinion about everything concerning this close race and I’m pretty much done. It’s very obvious that discussing who’s the better candidate between Clinton and Obama is a never ending debate.

Whatever! this aint nowhere near over, she needed those wins just to be able to stay in the race Obama will be our democrat nominee. I wasn’t surprised about the wins Hillary was always in the lead in Ohio and Rhode Island. Barack was always in the lead in Vermont and they were close in Texas. She barely won Texas (with about 1000 or so votes between them that I seen last night) and that 20 point margin in Ohio dropped considerably over the last couple of weeks so if you ask me he is the real winner because he still dipping into her base and his is untouchable.
All this is doing is preparing him for November. Even if she wins all of the next primaries she wont be able to catch him in the delegates (not that many states left the ones that are left except for PA don’t have that many delegates at stake and she’s not winning by large margins when she do win) or popular vote so he will still be our nominee.

Personally, the arguement that Obama is less experienced then Hillary is biased and based on wrangling of the media on Clinton’s part. When Bill first ran, how old was he? 42. Obama is 47. Now how could Obama be less experienced than Hillary when she was in elected government less time than him. Also, Obama speaks to me because as a 21 year old black college male, it is great to see a man that stands for the same ideals as me, and has hope and offers change, something that a stagnant America needs. Being from SC, I saw the tricks that homegirl pulled when she saw that Obama was leading and had a straight shot to win (which he did). Using Bob Johnson, also making a campaign company based here in SC switch to her side, and the last straw, Bill Clinton basically saying that the black vote is monolithic and was basically a commodity. Look, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t go out there and vote for her, but don’t use her so called “experience” and the fact that she was the wife of the so-called “first black president” as the reason.

But let’s talk about Mrs. Clinton and her dirtiness, I voted for Obama and then three days ago I started to feel that I should of voted for Clinton, but after all this “under the sink” crap she has been throwing at Obama (the negative info on Obama, some is misleading) I stand firmly and determined to support Obama even more. Even though I am joking around I am quite pissed and so is Obama (I am watching his speech right now) and he is talking off the top of his head, not using a premade speech (unlike Mrs. Clinton’s victory speech) and it is still better than her’s (as always). Another thing, Clinton supports need to stop copying Obama’s saying, for example they are starting to chant “yes, she will” get your own chant. And another thing, this bickering between Obama and Clinton (or Clinton by herself) needs to STOP because she is helping the Republicans.

I like Barack, just as much as anyone but he lost mainly due to his own his faults. He showed his inexperience and naivete in less than a week before the elections. First he said that he would send troops back to Iraq if Al Queda were to begin developing there after the withdrawal of troops. Which would defeat the purpose in withdrawing the troops in the first the place. I can’t see why American politicians can’t accept that you can not kill an idea. You can not destroy a burgeoning group that thrives on an ideology that America is a grand oppresor standing in their way. The American government couldn’t destroy the ideals of the Nazi’s nor the communist, but they feel they can destroy “Muslim radicals”. If Barack is against the war he should always stand firm on his decisions and explain them more eloquently.
Then he criticized NAFTA, which has its flaws. But he didn’t state how he would renegotiate the free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico. Then when Canada criticized his idea, Barack’s economic advisor basically stated that he was bluffing for election sake. Always so common of the Democratic party to criticize plans without stating a solution.
Barack is a great speaker and he has some good ideas. Yet he refrains from explaining them and focuses incessantly on his rhetoric of hope. Would it be so hard to incite hope and stimulate intellect.

Bottom line: Whoever wins the SUPER DELEGATES will be the DEMOCRATIC Presidential Nominee.
Analysts say that Hillary Clinton must win at least 60% of the vote from here on out to become the nominee, and that is just not going to happen.
Obama needs to re-strategize his approach to Clinton’s accusations on inexperience. He needs to be agressive in this area as she does not have much experience (call her out!). Being the former president’s wife does not give you a pass. And we must remember, Bill will not be president if Hillary is elected.
Another thing, Hillary is not electable. If she does win over Obama, she will lose a great number of democrat votes in the actual election. Also, McCain would love to run against Hillary, because it will be easier for him to discredit her.
In the end the Super Delegates will choose our Democratic Hopeful. Let’s hope they choose wisely. We need an electable candidate.

Let’s remember, yes Hillary has more superdelegates under her belt, but what if there is a turn around concerning the way the superdelegates decide to vote. Hillary Clinton always had a lead in Ohio where Obama was trailing by 20 or so points. He made that up and lost Ohio by 10 points. Texas was kind of up in the air but I always knew it would go to Hillary.
Hillary has been very negative in past weeks leading up to last night’s primaries. It was like she just kept throwing stones at him every which way she could. I guess one of those stones must have stuck because voters who made up their minds in the last three days voted for Hillary. I’m glad the race is not over, it gives other states the opportunity to vote for either Obama or Hillary and that’s the way it should be.
Oh and by the way, where is the article on Hillary not releasing her tax returns!?!
