POLITICS: OH, RI, TX, VT DEMOCRATIC RECAP
Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Sen. Hillary Clinton defeated Sen. Barack Obama Tuesday in the Ohio and Texas primaries, ending his winning streak and allowing her to continue in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Clinton also won Rhode Island; Obama won in Vermont. However, as we mentioned last month, Ohio and Texas were what she really needed.
Clinton has won some major states, but Obama retains a lead in delegates as he mentioned on CNN Wednesday. He said he had run strongly in states where he started at a disadvantage:
“We started 20 points behind in Texas and Ohio,” he said. He said he was not able to “close completely” the gap in those states, but he would continue to seek the Democratic nomination.
Clinton said her close race with Obama might result in a shared ticket. On CBS’s Early Show, she said:
“Well, that may be where this is headed, but of course we have to decide who is on the top of the ticket.” She said her victory in Ohio indicated that the choice should be her.
Snippets of Clinton’s Ohio victory speech
Clinton’s victory speech mentioned that “no candidate in recent history — Democratic or Republican — has won the White House without winning the Ohio primary. We all know that if we want a Democratic president, we need a Democratic nominee who can win Democratic states just like Ohio.”
“We’re going to do it for everyone across America who’s been counted out — but refused to be knocked out. For everyone who’s stumbled — but stood right back up. And for everyone who works hard — but never gives up.”

I don’t know #4 those “mexicans”, properly termed Hispanics people dont really even have a large population that votes. Texas is more of a George Bush Land, they are neccessarly overly democratic, but they are racist, and would much rather see a white person, whether DEM or not be prez then a black man. Look online, you will see TX has the highest number of death row statistics, needless to say majority of them are us minorities.

Hillary won because Repub’s voted for her. McCain already locked up the nomination so they organized and decided they would cast their votes for her in the primaries because if she gets the nomination, McCain will win. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Hillary will not beat McCain because republicans will not vote for her in the general election.

I live in TX and I voted early for OBAMA but when I went to the caucus last night it was crazy. I am a delegate for OBAMA and he won our precinct but that process is flawed. In BTW there are alot of hispanics here if they legal I dont know. One neighboring city Farmers Branch passed a law that it is illegal to rent to illegals and people who live in the city must pay to register to live in apts. I wish we had a law like Oklahoma, whatever the law is illegals are leaving there state in droves. My biggest issue will be immigration control. I am tired of having looking for jobs and constantly seeing Bilingual preferred.

I was hoping that we would have a clean sweep, but anything worth having is worth fighting for! Senator Clinton has the white/rural vote as welll as the latinos who are voting for the “Clinton” brand. Senator Obama needs to go on the offensive, maybe not as nasty as Senator Clinton, but he needs to be a tenacious as she has been, this is what one her Ohio & Texas!!!
Take the gloves off Senator Obama, so we can seal this thing up!! YES WE CAN!! Its time to fight!!!

Clinton is who she is and that being said Obama needs to throw the kitchen sink right back at her but in a more refine way. I know racism isn’t hiding but most of this stuff Clinton was selling about Obama isn’t true. I’m from Illinois and I voted for Obama and he isn’t a muslim or any of those other lies that Clinton has stated. America isn’t ready for someone like Obama. America voters can continue to believe in the fear tactic and other non proactive means by which these candidates are chosen. But I can’t and won’t vote for Clinton if she in the fall election. If Obama experience is a problem where is her experience. This woman was only in the U.S. Senate one term before Obama. She didn’t have security clearance on any foreign relations situations. She using her association to her husband as her experience and most of these voters are buying it! It’ really sad that there are two set of rules for Obama and Clinton. He’s probably the best candidate at this point and the devil is busy getting in most voters minds. Clinton should also consider how so many people would probably vote republican if she’s in the fall election. And that red phone ad was evil and goes against anything hopeful only fear.

Maybe because it was the media and others who kept repeating how a president in the last 60 or so years hasn’t been elected that didn’t win the Ohio Primary. And as far as delegates go he is still ahead, but you still close to 400 supers out there that are uncommitted and eventually FL delegates (more than MI) will have to be seated.

This is why most young people don’t vote and why racist are coming out now for this female. They can’t stand the ideal of a black man leading this country but it’s okay if Clinton puts him on the ticket for VP. This is BS. And for those black people voting for Clinton shame on you! Obama isn’t a Muslim, he can rule this damn country and why is it that he isn’t experience enough1 What is her real experience,NONE. Indiana is racist along with Ok, Ohio, Texas, Penn, hell even Illinois and that’s where he lives but they saw fit to look beyond racial lines. Damn American voters are we back in 1964 or what. Racism tumps sexism. Bush didn’t have any experience and he was voted in twice. Double standards anytime a black person is involved. I’m angry at this whole election. I suggest if Clinton is in the fall election seat this one out because no true change will be coming, just more of the same. White folks and hispanics showed their true colors as usual.

#21: There are 4,049 Democratic delegates overall, and in order to receive the Democratic nomination, a candidate needs to win over half of them, so, at minimum, they need 2,025.
The same applies to the Republican party, but there are only 2,381 Republican delegates overall.
Peace and blessings,

This is one annoying race imo. These super-delegates was such a stupid idea! Both democratic parties seem like they don’t really know what to do. Hilary’s campaigning and alligation against Obama get more ridiculous and Obama’s retaliation seems so sugarcoated. I wish both parties could come together because whoever gets the nomination will need the rejected Candidate by their side if they ever hope to beat Mcain and win the general election, which is a must! I still think Obama has a chance of winning the nominations but he has to be more precise on where he stands. Charm is not going to win you the election Obama! Clinton’s attitude changes and that is going to give Mcain an advantage is she slips up more then she has when debating with either Obama or Mcain in the future. Don’t let your husband fight YOUR battles! I think both of them need to look deeper into America’s issues now and find something everyone that will benefit Everyone in the future! I haven’t heard one idea from them that benefits everyone as of yet. I just want super Tuesday to be over and done with!

I just want to say I live in Ohio and I voted yesterday for Obama and I am just a
little concerned that the Urban communities (Cuyahoga County) had paper
ballots and the other communities had the electronic voting machines. Certain
areas in the urban community ran out of the paper ballots which caused some p people to leave and not vote because the weather was also bad (ice storm). They al also said due to the weather being bad they didn’t get the paper ballots back to the voting locations in time for some to vote. Just a mess if you ask me but you
didn’t ask me but I am telling it anyway because I am a little upset about the
whole situation. You have some people saying that if Hilary wins and is able to
run for President they are not going to even vote in November.

So one person knows what all those people did in Texas with any factual data and stats???? GO READ the actually polling and you will see that more voted for him in the Texas primaries. And in the general election NEITHER will get those Republicans cause they going to McCain. That is what kills me about the Obama supporters never want to face facts just say stuff without actually knowing what they are talking about, which is him in essence.

I woke up this morning to see a fellow Highbrid Nation writer reporting that Hillary has won the Ohio and Texas primaries and how this is getting bad. And like him I feel like this battle between Obama and Hillary has went on too long and now they are in danger of hurting the party by allowing McCain to take shots at them while they are dealing with each other. Howard Dean should step in and say “Look, Obama is going to be the canidate and Hillary you can be his running mate if you choose”…I know I know that would never happen but a guy can dream right?

I think its unfair to claim that people are racist because they are going for Hilary Clinton. I personally like both canidates, but I just feel at this time Hilary will be best suited for President and Obama run as her Vice-President. Those two combined would make a very strong ticket. There have been claims that McCain might get Rice to run as Vice-President to counteract their “Dream” ticket. I think Repubs will be making a big mistake, because this will seem like a ploy to attract black voters or an attempt to seem like a more diverse party than what they truly are. If they go all the way to Pennsylvania it will be interesting to see where the superdelegates are leaning. If Clinton wins that state she has a strong argument that she is most successful in Democratic states where we need to win for the general election, and some the states Obama has won has such a small percentage of democratic voters that we will more than likely lose in those states anyway in the general election. I just hope they work this thing out soon, because they both need to ensure democratic voters that inspite of their heated contest, the party as a whole is united and they are united as running mates on the same ticket. All in all her win continues to bring more interest to the Democratic party, the voter turnout is getting so strong and this bodes well for the general election. Voter interest is at an all-time high.

I agree with all you said, that is a dream ticket Clinton/Obama (in that order). She will win Pennsylvania and many predicting the other states surrounding like Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia and Puerto Rico. Like one of the analyst said last night if this goes to the convention, you don’t want to get into a knife fight with the Clintons behind closed doors. This week Obama showed he is an amateur and Clinton is the pro. If he doesn’t grow some skin and gets tough, he is done.

Nope. I don’t agree with that at all. Yes Billary won TX and Ohio but she didn’t get shit out of them. She didn’t even get the 60 percentage that she should have got in order to catch Barack in pledged delegates. But I don’t think Barack should start losing it and slamming this phony. We all know Barack is the underdog in this race. I strongly believe that he will be our Democratic nominee. So what if she won TX and Ohio. The delegate count is pretty much still the same, and she didn’t go any where.
Obama supporters need to hold their heads up high and do NOT give up. There is still a really good chance that Barack could take the nomination. If it shall lead down to the convention, the super delegates should play their cards right, and make Barack our Democratic nominee.
Hillary shouldn’t win. Seriously. John McCain will make mince meat out of her if she shall be the final Democratic nominee. She has no chance. Barack will have a much better chance at winning.

Whatever! this aint nowhere near over, she needed those wins just to be able to stay in the race Obama will be our democrat nominee. I wasn’t surprised about the wins Hillary was always in the lead in Ohio and Rhode Island. Barack was always in the lead in Vermont and they were close in Texas. She barely won Texas (with about 1000 or so votes between them that I seen last night) and that 20 point margin in Ohio dropped considerably over the last couple of weeks so if you ask me he is the real winner because he still dipping into her base and his is untouchable.
All this is doing is preparing him for November. Even if she wins all of the next primaries she wont be able to catch him in the delegates (not that many states left the ones that are left except for PA don’t have that many delegates at stake and she’s not winning by large margins when she do win) or popular vote so he will still be our nominee.

Personally, the arguement that Obama is less experienced then Hillary is biased and based on wrangling of the media on Clinton’s part. When Bill first ran, how old was he? 42. Obama is 47. Now how could Obama be less experienced than Hillary when she was in elected government less time than him. Also, Obama speaks to me because as a 21 year old black college male, it is great to see a man that stands for the same ideals as me, and has hope and offers change, something that a stagnant America needs. Being from SC, I saw the tricks that homegirl pulled when she saw that Obama was leading and had a straight shot to win (which he did). Using Bob Johnson, also making a campaign company based here in SC switch to her side, and the last straw, Bill Clinton basically saying that the black vote is monolithic and was basically a commodity. Look, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t go out there and vote for her, but don’t use her so called “experience” and the fact that she was the wife of the so-called “first black president” as the reason.

But let’s talk about Mrs. Clinton and her dirtiness, I voted for Obama and then three days ago I started to feel that I should of voted for Clinton, but after all this “under the sink” crap she has been throwing at Obama (the negative info on Obama, some is misleading) I stand firmly and determined to support Obama even more. Obama has taking the higher road by choosing not to reveal all her dirt, this may be his downfall, this may not, but if he wanted to he could bring up Whitewater, the suicide, etc. and etc. I am pissed at her (along with my mother and grandmother) and will refuse to vote for her (okay, okay maybe if she is on the presidential ballot I will, because we can’t have McCain in there, talk about higher gas prices now) Mrs. Clinton let it be known that I represent a lot of my fellow Americans and we currently spite you (but I did like you on the Daily Show last night). Even though I am joking around I am quite pissed and so is Obama (I am watching his speech right now) and he is talking off the top of his head, not using a premade speech (unlike Mrs. Clinton’s victory speech) and it is still better than her’s (as always). Another thing, Clinton supports need to stop copying Obama’s saying, for example they are starting to chant “yes, she will” get your own chant. And another thing, this bickering between Obama and Clinton (or Clinton by herself) needs to STOP because she is helping the Republicans.

I like Barack, just as much as anyone but he lost mainly due to his own his faults. He showed his inexperience and naivete in less than a week before the elections. First he said that he would send troops back to Iraq if Al Queda were to begin developing there after the withdrawal of troops. Which would defeat the purpose in withdrawing the troops in the first the place. I can’t see why American politicians can’t accept that you can not kill an idea. You can not destroy a burgeoning group that thrives on an ideology that America is a grand oppresor standing in their way. The American government couldn’t destroy the ideals of the Nazi’s nor the communist, but they feel they can destroy “Muslim radicals”. If Barack is against the war he should always stand firm on his decisions and explain them more eloquently.
Then he criticized NAFTA, which has its flaws. But he didn’t state how he would renegotiate the free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico. Then when Canada criticized his idea, Barack’s economic advisor basically stated that he was bluffing for election sake. Always so common of the Democratic party to criticize plans without stating a solution.
Barack is a great speaker and he has some good ideas. Yet he refrains from explaining them and focuses incessantly on his rhetoric of hope. Would it be so hard to incite hope and stimulate intellect.

Bottom line: Whoever wins the SUPER DELEGATES will be the DEMOCRATIC Presidential Nominee.
Analysts say that Hillary Clinton must win at least 60% of the vote from here on out to become the nominee, and that is just not going to happen.
Obama needs to re-strategize his approach to Clinton’s accusations on inexperience. He needs to be agressive in this area as she does not have much experience (call her out!). Being the former president’s wife does not give you a pass. And we must remember, Bill will not be president if Hillary is elected.
Another thing, Hillary is not electable. If she does win over Obama, she will lose a great number of democrat votes in the actual election. Also, McCain would love to run against Hillary, because it will be easier for him to discredit her.
In the end the Super Delegates will choose our Democratic Hopeful. Let’s hope they choose wisely. We need an electable candidate.

Let’s remember, yes Hillary has more superdelegates under her belt, but what if there is a turn around concerning the way the superdelegates decide to vote. What if they actually decide to vote based on how their district voted. What if those superdelegates that are with Hillary, change their minds at the last minute and roll with Obama, and vice versa. I wouldn’t want that to happen, but shit I have to look at both sides of the spectrum. *Sigh LOL
People this race can be changed at the drop of a dime (Hillary’s big win pretty much confirmed that), so let’s not be completely sure of ourselves about who’s going to win. I want to be but I know I can’t be about Obama’s chances of winning. I am just hoping for the best.
Yes I said I wouldn’t speak on this issue again but gotdamn I can’t help it. Who would of thought I would ever be this interested in politics?

J. Dakar, how can you say Hillary ended Obama’s winning streak when he won Vermont’s primary yesterday? Obama still leads in popular votes and pledged delegates. Hillary Clinton always had a lead in Ohio where Obama was trailing by 20 or so points. He made that up and lost Ohio by 10 points. Texas was kind of up in the air but I always knew it would go to Hillary.
Hillary has been very negative in past weeks leading up to last night’s primaries. It was like she just kept throwing stones at him every which way she could. I guess one of those stones must have stuck because voters who made up their minds in the last three days voted for Hillary. I’m glad the race is not over, it gives other states the opportunity to vote for either Obama or Hillary and that’s the way it should be.
Oh and by the way, where is the article on Hillary not releasing her tax returns!?!

“Obama needs to re-strategize his approach to Clinton’s accusations on inexperience. He needs to be agressive in this area as she does not have much experience (call her out!). Being the former president’s wife does not give you a pass.”
I definitely agree with that and I hope Obama does decide to do so because please believe Hillary is not a saint and she has some dirty ish under her sleeves but no one is really calling her out on it. She straight played his ass with the “your children are sleeping at 3am” ad and I am certain that ad strayed some people’s decision when it came time to vote. Obama needs to get back at her, do whatever it takes. He doesn’t have to be down right dirty but let’s get it poppin’! LOL

She only won by 10% in Ohio and by 3% in Texas and I believe he won the caucus that’s what I heard so I don’t think that all those democrats are just all of sudden going to go and vote for John McCain if he is the nominee. Let’s get realistic here. And it is the way she had to win to get the votes. She had to go really negative and play on people’s racial fears to get the wins. She really is a Republican in disguise.

i mean its really simple
1) she won on race - latinos go for white people over blacks any day its nothing new
2) she won last minute swing votes - the whole silly rezko issue and nafta b.s played a huge role in her win…all u do is release some lies close to voting day, with obama having no proper time to defend himself and BAM, he becomes a fraud because Hillary said so….
not to forget fear mongering with the whole red phone ad
3) she always wins the old and largely uneducated - its facts, majority of Obama voters are young and college graduates, - u know the people who actually research their candidates policies, background, experience - you know the ones who aren’t easily swayed by lies - the ones who just don’t vote because of familiarity with the Clinton name …
the ones who don’t let the media decided who we are going to vote for today…
the ones who know through research of their own that Hillary actually has less legislative experience than Obama - http://www.dailykos.com/s...2/20/201332/807/36/458633
see Library of Congress
If Obama wants to win, he too would have to attack her integrity and credibility as the “experienced” candidate

I have to say that I agree that the Republicans went out and voted for Hilary Clinton because they have nothing to loose because they know McCain is already the presumptive nominee. (Also, take for instance Rush Limbaugh announced on his radio show that the Republicans need to bane together and vote for Hilary Clinton, so she can be the nominee, and so that McCain can win the Presidency) All they had to do is say they were voting Democrat at the primary and then vote for Hilary Clinton because the Republicans know in a match up McCain will beat Hilary Clinton, also they know by the time the general election comes around they know they can vote for their actual party (Republican) and get McCain in the White House. They also know, that if Obama is out of the race all of Obama’s voters or most of his voters will switch to voting for McCain because of the tactics Hilary Clinton pulled on Obama, not only that but they won’t want Clinton to be the nominee. Also, if you ask me there will be a lot of people that won’t care about the race and will become uninterested if Obama doesn’t become the nominee because let’s face it there’s a reason that so many people especially young people are becoming involved in the political process and a reason why so many people are voting etc… and you have to agree that it’s because Obama (an African-American is involved).
I know one think if Obama isn’t the nominee I’m voting Republican (McCain). But, let’s not count Obama out yet, because he’s still in the lead and Wyoming and Mississippi are in his favor! Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if those dirty Clinton’s pulled something in Texas and Ohio especially Ohio, how would she win by that many points? Also, she knew just when to pull some dirty tricks right before the Texas and Ohio Primaries. I can’t believe people are being so naive. (I will continue this post below.)

The Clinton’s knew to start calling Obama “inexperienced” to embed that on the minds of the U.S. and subsequently use that against him. Yet, she won’t turn over the records that list her experience. What does that tell you? Also, she knew to play the role that the media is too harsh on her to get people thinking that way and turn the media in her favor and become more harsh on Obama. You can’t deny the fact that Obama is not only brilliant but he captures the interest of the American people and he is truly trying to move this country in the direction it needs to go, he is also sincere and honest and doesn’t have to get down and dirty to win a primary. I mean, everything about him says President. Also, not only is he eloquent but he has substance just do your research and look up his issues and stance. Also, I’m tired of Black America calling Bill Clinton the First Black President, do you really think he truly cares in his heart of hearts about Black America, I mean we have a true African-American running for the Presidential race that would truly be the First Black President, do you know what that would mean for our country and our race, and our history WAKE UP!!
Also, I’m not surprised that Hilary won the Latino vote, the history b/w whites and latinos and blacks and latinos is quite deep in a sense. I just don’t understand why Latino’s can’t see through her- I mean making a hispanic song her campaign theme- how desperate and forward can you be?
I agree that Obama needs to get a bit more aggressive and call her out-because believe me you she’s cooking something up on him as we speak. (Hopefully, America can see through it though)

Barack Obama is in the lead in the number of states won and the number of pledged delegates won. There have been discrepancies in the elections in NewYork, Ohio and Texas. In New York they found votes that were not counted for Obama. In Ohio they ran out of voting paper last night, and some voters in Texas were told to go home when they showed up to vote. If the roles were switched between Obama and Hillary, they would have told Obama to concede to Hillary long ago. Now, Hillary thinks because she has won Ohio and Texas that automatically makes her the front runner. She is still counting heavily on the super delegates to steal the nomination. I know you don’t cut off your nose to spite your face, but if Hillary steals the nomination from Barack Obama, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HER, I will stay home and let the republicans have it. A message needs to be sent to the Democratic Party.

This piece was taken from the website posted below. The website lists what bills were created by Clinton and Obama as Senate, as well as what bills were passed. Thanks again FlyLike, I’m always up for a chance to do research regarding BOTH candidates.
“Finally, Obama appears to have a better record last year in the Senate on getting his bills and amendments passed than does Clinton. I’ve listed everything that passed the Senate for each them at the end in boxes. But check out Thomas.loc.gov for yourself. I may have missed something.
In my eyes Obama is the superior choice in every way. He cares about more of the issues that matter to me. Kids and health care are important but so is the issue of global warming, on which Clinton introduced not a single bill last year.
Obama is a leader. With bigger majorities in Congress, much of his agenda should sail through. He can inspire this country to change course on so many things, from health care to global warming, where attitudes have to be changed first. I remember Bill Clinton’s endless laundry lists of small, focus group approved initiatives. For those who say Hillary will not govern like Bill did, I respond that the people who were doing the market testing of his proposed policies were Dick Morris, of course, and Mark Penn, who is now running Hillary’s campaign.
It’s Obama for me! I just sent him $100. My first donation this election.
Yes, We Can!”

This is in reponse to #6, umm sweetie do you live in Texas? That’s what I thought, I DO!!! 36% of Texas is Hispanic, and 12% is African American, and 72% is White. THe majority in Texas is White, and next is Hispanic, let’s not forget Asian Americans are a large pop here too. The fact is Obama thought it was all about BLACK / WHITE and forgot that there are a lot more races/backgrounds in America, ie: the Melting Pot. Hil won, b/c she knew who was a big factor in Texas, and began campaigning for the Hispanic vote, when he was too busy dancing to his 11 state wins. Why do you think George “DUMMY” Bush got into office, the Hispanics here in Texas voted for him, not just white. So try stating facts, before fiction/opinions:)!

As an African American woman, I hate that this race is falling along racial lines.
Both candidates are democratic. I think Obama’s camp overplayed quotes made by the Clinton’s to take on racial overtones.
I really dislike the fact that Obama gets support simply because he’s an eloquent speaker and walked a safe line politically in his short career. Take away his words and we would have to ask who is he and what has he done.
I think the media has done more for Obama’s campaign than his own strategy. Now that attention has been called to it………let the real race begin.

What concerns me the most about this whole primary is that I think that those that support the Democratic party are not looking at the whole picture of this current situation. Yes Obama has won and had an extremely impressive campaign. Never could I have imagined that he would still be in this race. ( I thought that it was going to be Clinton and Edwards in this race.) The down side of this is that the states that he is winning are not going to be democratic states in Novemeber. So it pretty much makes many of the victories null and void in the grand schemes of things. ( And lets not forget the very likelyhood that they are going to count the votes in Michgan and Florida due to the closeness of the race and not wanting to disfranchise these voters). So fast foward to November and the Electorial College system. We have witnessed in both the 2000 and 2004 elections that the popular vote does not necessarily win the White House. What we are neglecting to realize is that Clinton is leading with votes from both white women, seniors, and Hispanics. Many of who if Obama is the nominee will most likely vote republican. Hispanics have in the past swayed more to the Republican party when voting. I like both of these canidates and will vote for who ever is the Democratic candidate. ( Although as a side note, Obama sort of disappointed me this week with his response to Clinton’s attacks. He seemed to show a weakness which McCain will expose if Obama is the candidate. It to me showed a slight issue of inexperience) I just hope that we make the right decision to capture the White House!!!

I’m sick and tired of black women going around talking about “I’m torn between Hillary and Barack”–whom should i vote for, waaah, waaah waaah!! Cut the nonsense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every black woman in this country should not even contemplate—they all need to vote for Barack. Go to Barack’s website and you will find that Obama plans to end the disparities in civil rights and will fight for more employment rights and equal wages for women and minorities, especially minority women. Despite healthcare for all, Hillary Clinton does not mention a plan to help minority women in her agenda. Black women need to get their minds right.
To all black women: Don’t forget your female ancestors were raped by Southern White men on the plantation. I’m not playing the race card, but your ancestors are going to roll over in their graves if you vote/or have voted for Clinton. Latinos are not going to vote for Obama. One of Clinton’s Latino pollsters said as much. This is from the January New Yorker article.
“On the morning after Clinton’s victory, I talked to Sergio Bendixen, one of her pollsters, who specializes in the Hispanic vote. “In all honesty, the Hispanic vote is extremely important to the Clinton campaign, and the polls have shown—and today is not a great day to cite polls—that even though she was slipping with women in Iowa and blacks in South Carolina, she was not slipping with Hispanics,” he said. “The fire wall doesn’t apply now, because she is in good shape, but before last night the Hispanic vote was going to be the most important part of her fire wall on February 5th.” The implications of that strategy are not necessarily uplifting.
When I asked Bendixen about the source of Clinton’s strength in the Hispanic community, he mentioned her support for health care, and Hispanic voters’ affinity for the Clinton era. “It’s one group where going back to the past really works,” he said. “All you need to say in focus groups is ‘Let’s go back to the nineties.’ ” But he was also frank about the fact that the Clintons, long beloved in the black community, are now dependent on a less edifying political dynamic: “The Hispanic voter—and I want to say this very carefully—has not shown a lot of willingness or affinity to support black candidates.” ♦

I just have one additional comment to add. I find it completely sad and ignorant that anyone would critcize any African American for voting for Clinton or anyone else. The most important thing is that they are indeed exercising their right to vote. The way one votes should never be based soley on race or gender but where the individuals stands on issues that effect you as a person. These kind of statements makes you no diffrent from the Caucasian individuals that you claim are racist and not voting for Obama becuase he is black. Has anyone ever thought that Clinton won Ohio because she had the most substantive and realistic responses when it came to the issues that affect those in Ohio???? (NAFTA and economy) Also Obama’s issue with this Canadian official and NAFTA did not help matters either. It exposed that he too practices some of those “same old washington politics” that he claims he does not…… double talking.

Wednesday, March 5, 2008 /
I live in Texas and campaigned very hard here for Barack. I am highly disappointed that all of the racist showed their true colors yesterday. I have followed this election very closely and just the past Sunday 60 minutes conducted a town hall meeting in Ohio where they openly stated that Southern Ohio residents would never vote a black man into office. Likewise, a very prominent Hispanic leader spoke out to a local Texas news station and stated that the Hispanic community would never vote for a black man…Of course when Hillary was informed of this, she immediately denounced and rejected the lady…
My point is, many African Americans are stating that they are not voting for a candidate based solely on their color. What what do you think Texas and Ohio based on? Color..If we truly want to see Barack in office then we need to stick together and show our support for him. George Bush had some experience but look at how he screwed up the country. Barack can’t be any worse than him. So, why not give him the opportunity.

Being supportive of our candidates of choice is a great thing. We just need to remember to keep the dialog open to all candidates in case ours doesn’t win. We don’t want to get completely shut out like the Republicans do the Black people on a whole. Having said that, I will not be voting for Hillary Clinton no matter what. I know trying to win an election makes people do the most hateful things, but I expect MORE. She knows that she would have lost if she had fought a campaign strictly on the issues so she had to lie, cheat, vote-tamper and all of the above and more we probably don’t know about to secure support and votes. I have a huge problem with her lack of ethics. And I can’t believe she’d even bring up dirt on someone else when her and Bill are in the midst of a campaign finance fraud case being heard in CA right now. Obama needs to be more assertive and be on the offense. besides that he has run an amazing campaign. Seriously. No one expected him to last this long and still be ahead in the pledged delegate count. In case you didn’t realize he did distribute info to the media on Tuesday morning outlining that he thought he’d win VT for sure and come in close in the other states. Considering he was 20 points + behind in the polls to come in between 4-11 points is amazing. If the tampering hadn’t occurred he’d probably be closer and may have in fact won NH, NM and NV. People should be calling their representatives and the DNC and lodge their concerns/complaints to make sure we the voters don’t get swift-boated this time around!

time when America is the bain of most of the international community, her
cold, calculating and sometimes downright catty behavior is offputting to

Barack Obama would handily beat John McCain in a head-to-head match-up, according to a compilation of poll results, while Hillary Rodham Clinton would lose to the likely GOP nominee.
Obama would collect 252 Electoral College votes to McCain’s 216 if the general election were held today, according to the analysis based on recent polls.
Obama leads McCain in 20 states, many of them large enough to offset McCain victories in states with smaller populations.
Five states are too close to call, according to current polls, and McCain would have to win all of them to overtake Obama.
To win, a candidate needs 270 Electoral College votes.
Against Clinton, McCain would go on a 39-state romp and hold 282 Electoral College votes to Clinton’s 172. Six states are too close to call in that match-up.
Even if she managed to win all of those close states, she could not make up her 110-vote deficit.
At least two of those toss-ups are in crucial components of the Democratic base: Pennsylvania and Michigan.
Both Democrats lead in New York and New Jersey. Connecticut is projected for the Democrats based on the 2004 results.
In terms of the popular vote, McCain holds a 6-point edge over Clinton in a nationwide poll conducted by the Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg News.
That same poll found McCain with a smaller edge against Obama, while other polls show Obama with a significant lead.

I only have one question! Where in the hell is John Edwards in all of this? That’s who needs to come out and make a decision on who He’ll be supporting! I think if he came out in support of senator Obama it would help his campaign in the future primaries. Why has he waited so long to voice his support!?? And I tell you one thing, if those superdelagates pick clinton, I’M VOTING FOR MCAIN!!

#89; Healthy hair is good hair?? or whatever your name is. Let me first say that I am a African American female (VERY BLACK) who is also highly educated with three degrees. If you read my statement you would have noticed that I did not take either side. I stated how I felt about the situation. I am going to make this nice and sweet because you my dear possess the same ignorance that I talked about and are frankly not worth my energy to discuss with any futher. If you want to have an intellectual conversation (if you are capable) I welcome it. BE Blessed!!

I just wanted to remind everyone that the most important thing to learn from this election is to vote. Alot of people are raising our history as African Americans as a reason to vote for a specific candidate. The truth of the matter is that those that fought for our rights in the past just wanted us to be afforded a right to have a voice. So whomever you vote for the act of voting is whats important.
