Beyonce debuted her look as soul singer Etta James for the filming of Cadillac Records over the weekend. The film started production this month in New Jersey and Mississippi.

Ultimately, power portrayal of a character comes from the acting element of it and really absorbing yourself in the craft. Personally, I don’t know if she can, but I hope she can pull it off I don’t knock ANYBODY’s hustle. Etta James is a historical singing legend that deserves quality screenwriting and treament.

That shot of her just looks like she’s going to look like Beyonce in a wig in this movie… I was prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt, I thought maybe she’d have a chance to work with coaches and improve but since they’ve got to compete with that other movie about Cadillac Records which is also in production now, I bet she didn’t have time to prepare…they’re probably going to rush to finish first… About the only thing I could see Beyonce doing for this role is gaining weight gradually and having makeup applied to get points for the “physical transformation” as she goes through Etta’s heavy drug binges and alcoholism… Word is, they’re planning to lay it on heavy with the dope stuff…Beyonce’s even announced that some of her salary will go to a drug-related charity. ha!

I understand wanting a big name to attract attention, but there’s another young lady out there that could kill in this movie. Every character Beyonce’ Knowles has portrayed has NOT been a far departure from who she is; there’s something about her that makes her unable to fully embody a role.
I have my fingers crossed that a miracle of acting talent is bestowed upon her in a short amount of time.

for the last time, Beyonce cannot do every thing. She looks kind of ridiculous in that wig. But you can bet your ass that since this is her and her father’s project that they figured only B could play the role. And that will go for any other film ideas they come up with in the future; so i guess all the other qualified talented black actresses in hollywood will have to take a back seat now to Beyonce Knowles ( a 26 year old black woman who is incapable of artulating what it is that she actually does without a script or her daddy pre recording for her and having her memorize it)!
