Beyonce debuted her look as soul singer Etta James for the filming of Cadillac Records over the weekend. The film started production this month in New Jersey and Mississippi.
Bee was also spotted earlier this weekend hiding from paparazzi as she left Waverly Inn with Jay-Z. See the candids after the cut…

If she went to the Waverly Inn she knew paparazzi would be outside. They’re out there every night, she could have sent an assistant to pick up her food if she didn’t want to be photographed. Maybe she got a pimple over dinner or fell and busted her lip leaving her table lol. These celebs confuse the ish out of me w/the things they do though lol.

I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the pic of her coming out the trailer. I was like she look likes Beyonce in a bad wig lol. But then I thought to myself I’m going to give her a chance cause she has always played the cute, nice but kinda selfish diva, or somebody that isn’t that much a departure of her character. Now Etta James said it herself that she was a bit arrogant and didn’t care about shit for real when she was younger. Now i think that this will be a good role for her cause she has to work to show that she’s more than an one dimensional actress and maybe she will get a lil bit more respect.
Now on to the second pic……………Now people are questioning why she is hiding her face. Who gives a fuck to be honest. Maybe she is being smart and trying to keep a low key cause she been here there and everywhere especially for the past 2yrs.

I have read numerous comments that were crazy or somewhat good.
1.One thing for sure I believe Beyonce got this role for merely ticket sales. There are many great actresses out there and I’m sorry but Beyonce is not one of them. This does not take away from her singing capabilities at all. She is great in the music industry but there’s a list of black actresses who could have easily portrayed Etta James. ie: Tisha Campbell.
2. There are too many people in this post that automatically associate success with the amount of money a person has. Just because someone disagrees with Beyonce does not make them a hater. It makes them opinionated. It also does not mean that they are some lonely unsuccessful person sitting on the couch. They are leaving comments just like you.
3. When was Etta ever small?..I thought she was always a chunky woman.

No Beyonce fan here, especially not her acting, but that hustle is so fierce. I’m in awe of just the pure wok ethic and go-get ‘em-ness. Not everybody is going to like this woman and there’s nothing wrong with voicing that opinion, but there is no denying that her status is quite amazing and her star status will probably burn for a long time because she is taking advantage of her talent.

Those songs are hardly good examples of how Bey is or will ever be on the same par as Tina or Diana ross. Those songs are some of her worst and in fact shes only really had a few great hits outside of destinys child.
A legend is an artist whose music we listen to years and even decades after it was released, like the Supremes, Tina or Marvin Gaye. I hardly ever listen to any of DC’s old songs with the exception of a few, and I hardly ever listen to Beys music. Other than crazy in love and bootyliciosu I doubt most people will listen to any of her songs in the future unless she comes back with a killer third album.
The reality is that Bey has a devoted stan/fan base, but in terms of good quality music shes failed to prove herself. Yes shes a great entertainer but musically she fails to impress most people. She still has a lot of work to do if she wants to be put in the same category as the legendery soul/r&b musicians. Just stating the facts Im not hating, but unlike these hysterical fans I am realistic.
Yes Bey has a decent voice and can perform well live but she can’t act, she needs to just accept it and work on actually making some good records cause she hasn’t done that in a while.

@ # 92 I understand what you are saying and I am happy to know that you appreciate all that she has done for you and your family. However, I too am from the NO. Born, raised and educated there. But what you are missing is that this was the case of a nice big juicy tax write off. And good exposure. I lived in Houston for two years and had noticed what looked to be many thousands of homeless people there. Pre-Katrina. Texas is the wealthiest state period. I saw blocks and blocks and more blocks of homeless people. It was shocking and hurtful. The homeless has their very own community there. Now here is the big kick in the ass…Are you ready?!!! The House of Derion is smack damn in the middle of this homeless community. It has a very tall fence that surrounds this building,along with a huge tour looking bus with Ms. Bey’s face all over it. And the homeless stand around this building,camping out,surrounding this place. Therefore, making it totally impossible to ignore these people, because that is all you see. Whites, blacks, hispanics, Young and old. Fortunately, I found a church that cared enough to help as many people as we could. Mind you none of us are wealthy but found this to be our mission. AND some of us were Katrina & Rita victims. Without the tax write offs and notoriety. No one to try to impress to win over fans. And to add to insult. She is donating money towards drug rehabs. Where was this great idea before the making of this movie? Why weren’t these ideas in effect prior to? Believe me I am a fan of her hustle, her drive is one thing I cannot knock. But to me it’s all one big show, trying to prove herself at any cost. while not really having a true heart about it. And this shows. You can fool some people sometimes, but you can’t fool everyone all of the time. I believe her real success will come when she is truly humle. And I don’t mean financial success.

EXACTLY but most of her fans can’t see past anything but her. they don’t understand what it takes to be a legend. it doesn’t help that the quality of music isn’t the same anymore. inow in order to listen to quality music, you have to throw out your radio and dig into the indie scene.

Why is it when a celebrity does something (or anybody with money for that matter) idiotic people always have to say it’s a tax writeoff? You don’t get to write-off the whole amount which is my number 1 point. Secondly, WHO THE FUCK CARES IF THEY GET A TAX WRITE-OFF??? Would you rather they not give anything, or just say I am going to give you this money but don’t give me the tax benefit? I agree with giggles she a great performer and entertainer. As far as an actress hell no. But alot of people like her and like people do not. But some people need to act like she god. But there going to be other entertainer like her going to be coming up in the world. All this negatively i feel sorry who going to be next. People say Beyonce can’t act, but where is this bad catalogue they’ve all seemed to view? She’s only done 4 movies and only 2 had real speaking parts. Carmen jump started her career – everyone agreed she could act then, what happened? Austin as Foxxy – she killed that part with sass and class. PP, she herself opted not to do the sequel because it didn’t consist of acting. Dreamgirls – got 2 golden globe noms, 1 for acting, 1 for singing. Another part that consisted of non-speaking acting, but emotionally she could’ve been stronger – I agree.
She picked her latest two roles because they evoke emotions in speaking parts and non-speaking parts, but this is what she needs to stretch her as an actress. Beyonce’s the same type of actress and will have the same acting career as Halle Berry – who mind you, won an Oscar. They’re the same type of personalities. People didn’t believe in Halle either when she first came out, incl. Spike Lee who gave her her first real movie gig.
