Noone is hating on Tameka because of her skin tone. She’s not THAT dark. Most chicks are hating because she’s with Usher. I don’t like her because I think she’s trifling but thats just MY opinion. The whole relationship was a slap in the face. Everyone expected him and Chili to get back together and we feel that he completely downgraded with Tameka. But hey, its his life and marriage. For his sake I hope it works out.

I just think Tameka is ugly inside and out…not at all because of her skin tone, but skin tone is sometimes a double standard between men and women. Society is more harsh towards darker skinned women than men, that’s why you dont really see many chocolate sistas in the entertainment industry, and there’s a constant struggle between what’s “in” between dark and lighter skinned men.

I think it is important to recognize our own bias’ as they relate to skin complexion. Those of us in the black community know good and well that “dark chocolate brothers” represent the epitome of gorgeousness: Tyrese, Morris Chestnut, Djimon and others. However, its clear that this does not work the same for black women. This doesn’t mean that Blacks don’t believe dark-skinned woman aren’t attractive, it means that in our community there is a hierarchy where women who look like Halle, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Rhianna are considered more attractive than women like Nia long, Gabrielle Union, and Kelly Rowland. We are all beautiful but its sad that we’re often so shaped by white supremacy that even our own conceptions of black beauty tend to value features that look most like whites.
These conceptualizations do impact the way we judge people like Tameka and others. At the same time, Tameka obviously is really sketchy so I understand people’s reservations about her. But peoples’ comments also focused a lot on her ugliness which was often used in conjunction with criticizing her darker skin tone. Our colorism is real and its something that we need to recognize about ourselves and change.

I think people need to make the distinction bt being spoiled and being selfish. You can still expect the very best for yourself and get it and still be a considerate and giving person. Remember, its not what you give your child, but what you teach them.

Its not about Tameka’s skin tone. There are several brown skin women who are beautiful,….i.e Melinda Williams, Kelly Roland, YaYa (ANTM), Ashanit, Angel Lola Luv, etc……The list goes on………Tameka’s just not an overly attractive woman. She’s average looking. In a room amongst several women, she wouldn’t stand out.
And to piggy back on #16 comments…….. it was a real downgrade. Let be honest, Chilli isn’t “light skin”, she’s extremely attractive, and people loved them together. So skin tone has nothing to do with it. Not only that Chilli loved Usher, and wanted to settle down with him, get married, and have his babies. Please note that as far as the world is concerned truth or fiction Tameka is a golddigger who left her children and husband to trade up. She is not ugly by any means but based on what he could have had, and what he ended up with baffles some people who can’t get past the superficial.
Djimon is beautiful, cultured and worldly , with skin darkended by the sun, a body that makes you say Lord thank you for your blessings and a life and a bank of his own. If Kimora left him tomorrow he would still be the face of Calvin Klien and an acting career, there is no comparison between the too.
