I think that Solange’s new music is a lot more insightful than people think it’s going to be. It’s no wonder why Geffen is so excited to release her new project, Soul Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams this August. Musically, I think Solange is taking a lot of risks that I just didn’t expect from her. I’m hoping that she gets the attention that she needs this go ’round. I like the fact that she’s doing something so completely different than what her sister is doing.

Another new Brandy track that’s leaked, that pretty much has the same feel as the track “Honey” that we posted yesterday. Like I said yesterday, I really don’t see this tracks going on Brandy’s new release. Even though I like them, these songs just seem a little album-filler-ish to me. I know that Brandy is going into the studio with a lot of great writers and producers, so I can’t wait to hear the finish project.
Donnie J. – Spank Me (snippet) – listen
Seems as though more material is leaking from Bad Boy’s solo artist, Donnie J. I can’t take any song seriously called “Spank Me.” Although I like the production (I like most of the songs that I’ve heard from Seven), the song is called “Spank Me!” And from what I’ve gathered from the lyrics, it’s actually about spanking! When I first heard the intro to this, I thought that it was going to be the same premise of Lupe Fiasco’s “Superstar” (which to me, was a back-packer’s version of “Hollywood” by Jay-Z), but it turned out to be not that at all. Is Busta working on a new album? His last album was successful, so I’m excited to see what Busta will come up with this time around. He’s been doing a lot of remixes as of late.
I like that Solange is doing her own thing. its cool.
I am so happy you all posted this song Its my jam its not going on the album but she is working with maximun risk(producers of this song) on the new album I keep hearing that its supposed to be a hot album. I just cant wait till she drops it.

Donnie should title the song “Smack Me” because that is what he needs for calling it “Spank Me”…………do ya’ll really like him, he always seemed like the odd one out of all of them (not because he is white)…….because you can see that Diddy is going to make him more pop than the traditional Bad Boy R&B (aka Justin Timberlake II) plus I find it to be a HUGE turn off that he has highlights….well I just find him in general to be a turn off……..anywayz I luv BRANDY

Wow, Solange’s sound is different, but in some “unexplainable” (if thats a word) way I like it….I like her, I wish that everyone that is or was associated with Beyonce gets to step from out of her shadow and do their own thing. (ie Michelle, Kelly, LeToya, Solange) They are very talented but unfortunately will always be compared to Beyonce. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Solange.
I’m excited about Brandy. I hope that she is able to deal with, and move past the tragedy she experienced. I want nothing but the best for her. Because I grew up listening to her music I feel like she’s my big sister. I think her past album Afrodesiac was straight fire but was slept on and wasn’t very successfully commercially. I like “Should I Go” from that album. We’ll see what happends this time around.

*Side note Solange writes for a lot of other artists as well including Beyonce, Kelly, and Michelle. So she will always have a future in the music industry at least behind the scenes.

I agree that Solange is more talented than Bey, from a musical standpoint. Solo is a great writer and I can’t wait to cop her album and Brandy’s too, she is one of my favs! Her albums have not disappointed me yet.
As far as Donnie, I am trying really hard to give him a shot but he is just corny to me. Not trying to compare him to Justin, but @ least JT has a lil swag about him. Donnie just acts like he is “proud to be in the service” and is just going along with whatever is thrown @ him. I hope he does well though.

i said it once and i’ll say it again. solange kills bee musically. bee can’t even write ONE song (bootylicious is not what i would call a song). solange can write music. her sister is a better singer (that’s undeniable- bee has a killer voice) but seriously ppl who aren’t into the mainstream will embrace solange b/c in indie circles, writing and playing instruments are huge positives. writing a song actually takes intelligence. and i see that she wrote all of the meaningful songs for herself haha she gave the trash songs to dc3

Solange is a great writer and her songs are sounding original, but her voice is lacking something….I can’t put my finger on it. She always talking about smoking on that Jamaican Christmas tree too..she must be a weedhead. Donnie Donnie Donnie :smh: I watched making the band and he was just happy one of the producers wanted to work with him he didn’t care who, and Seven is turning him into a straight weirdo. That freaky weird crap only works for Prince. I think that the songs he was working on before Seven sounded like money making songs. You know Diddy will drop him if he don’t sell, hell Di8ddy was acting like he was going to drop him on the show. But on the show you could tell Donnie was just looking for someone to tell him what to do instead of saying this is what I want and how I want it like DK did. Not feeling Donnie to much, his music is lacking soul and feeling. Not to excited about Busta, I personally prefer the old sound when he used to scream and be all crazy like on Put your hands where my eyes can see and Dangerous.
