Its good thats Solange is tryna be different, but in all honesty she is always gonna be compared to her sibling, similar to Brandy and Ray-J (and in this case, her albums will sell similar to Ray-J). Regardless of what she does Mama Tina and Papa Knowles are still gonna love her (Beyonce) more!

Solange has always been “different,” and I like where she’s going with this project. By the way, the lyrics to this song are hot.

Brandy has always been #1 in my book. Each of her albums is hot, and I can’t wait for this year’s album to drop. I tend to love anything she comes out with, but I’m not feeling this song as much as some of the others that have been floating around recently.

Some of you really believe you’re making this a Beyonce v Solange thing, with Solange in the lead…but you don’t get that Solange is selling BEYONCE’S NAME. If she were not Beyonce’s sister, she would be somewhere in obscurity… All this proves is the power of Beyonce’s name… This girl is trash…and yeah, Beyonce is wayyy overrated but she’s not #1 because of her voice, and certainly not because of her acting or even writing… She’s at the top because she’s gorgeous… Sooooo, gorgeous Beyonce gets mediocre sister a record deal, writing deal, and attention on concrete loop… Oh, I forgot, and a few fans too…

That sounded cruel…nobody is “trash,” but she’s no serious talent…and she knows it…all she’s doing is being a vulture like Daddy and taking the spotlight from serious, starving artists…

I can’t believe that #95 [Elle] stated that Beyonce is not #1 because of her voice but because of her looks. I buy Beyonce’s albums and go to her concerts because she is talented AS A SINGER. She must have something going for herself other than beauty because she’s always in someone’s mouth and being referred to when things, such as this post, have absolutely nothing to do with her. Beyonce, fortunately, has a lot going for herself other than a great voice. Keep hating…I’m sure she (nor her fans) mind because we can do with or without. Brandy’s song - Only took me 10 seconds to know that I shouldn’t be wasting my time any longer (on the song).

Solange’s song - One thing that I think will help her A LOT would be for her to change her look. She doesn’t have to go “Erykah Badu” on us, but she’s still got a look that mimics Beyonce’s or more of trendy/pop style. I dug everything about the song, but the “I promise I’m not high, I swear I’m not high” at the end wasn’t really necessary. It made her sound a little immature because it was so off-the-wall.

Donnie J song - He’ll probably make it on the “TRL” countdown with that song. How long it’ll stay on is anyone’s guess.

Busta Rhymes - I’m a Busta Rhymes fan, but this song wasn’t anything special. I think partially because the beat was like beats I’ve heard before.

@JAY you have to admit that her looks does play a huge part in why she is such a success. i’m when talk they usually say something along these lines: “OH,SHE’S SO GREAT !!! FABULOUS SINGER, GREAT DANCER, AND SHE IS SO BBBBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAUUUUTIFUL.” it has to be why she so successful. take india.arie for example she has the voice and write more beautiful songs then beyonce but don’t get the same attention as bey does why you think that is. because india.arie doesn’t play up to what society defines beauty, beyonce obviously does.(AND NO I’M NOT SAYING THAT IT’S A BAD THING) now don’t get me wrong i think beyonce is talented but her does take her further then other singers.

“I gotta dream to keep my eyes open”, This metaphore is so powerful, how can one have their “eyes open” if they “dream”? She’s saying you have to know who you are/wanna be (have your dreams) in order to make your own choices and not become people’s puppets (eyes open). This line alone has to make you wanna pay attention.

Stop being distracted by the fact that she’s related to Beyonce. Some people think that because they’re siblings it’s easier for Solange? If anything, it’s gonna be harder for her to make it, because she’s being (unfairly) compared to someone who already made her name and build her career in the industry.

Artistically, the public is so spoon-fed and used to easy beats that I really think most people ain’t ready for this bright and talented 22 year old girl.
