Tracey not that funny, but naming a boy that name certainly is.

Although Im not American I must say America seems like an extremely racist nation, from what ive seen the hatred of ethnic minorities over there is dreadful!!!

Its hypocritcal to say Obama wouldnt be there if he wasnt black, but Hillary wouldnt be running if she wasnt Clintons wife. I liked Bill but his wife is a hypocrite!!!

I want to know what Tina Fey’s Skit was about?

14.

politics

Sunday, March 16, 2008 /

Tina’s skit was about women’s issues. She talked about how Hillary has been called a b*tch and how b*tches get things done. And the at the end she says B*tch is the new black. Then she starts throughing her arms around kinda how the rappers do.

I don’t get it really and the only way I can think of it is she is saying how people are scared and does mess with blacks that’s the way it is for b*tches now. Tracey’s statement at the end summed it all up. Can I get the T shirt??? LOL!

i kind of had a bad taste in my mouth about all the negative skits they had about barack. saying how hard they are on hilary and easy they are on obama, its crap. im glad to see this is well so that snl doesnt seem so bias. and im surprised that he did make some good points. If Clinton wasnt bills wife no one would really care about her, she defiantly wouldnt be able to make a name for herself like Obama has.

NO! Y’all got it all wrong!

What Tina meant by saying “Bitch is the new black”, she meant how every season these so-called fashion experts always say that this color or that color is the new black, meaning that it’s a color that works in any style.

Sometimes people say “(insert word here) is the new black” to suggest that it’s the latest thing that people are using to seem hip and current.

I still loved Tracy’s monolgoue though!

27.

sfsinger

Sunday, March 16, 2008 /

I would not have worded Tina Fey’s skit as being in defense of Hillary. It was more of a swipe at Obama and Black people in general if she and other wealthy white women think they are at a disadvantage in society. White women have benefitted the most from Affirmative Action though it is usually viewed that Black people benefit from it the most. It tied into Geraldine Ferraro’s statement about Obama..and Jackson before him that they have had it easier simply because they are Black. Which is ridiculous but taps into the ignorance of a lot of people who don’t know or don’t want to acknowledge institutionalized racism. Anyone that rises above the barriers set in place do so in spite of them. There is no red carpet roll-out with a flashing neon sign that says ‘Come in In’. They couldn’t even bother with hiring a Black comedian to portray Obama and I watched one skit and honestly it was enough. The comedian bugged his eyes in exaggeration and it went from satire to blackface minstrel show in that instance. I can’t stand that show!

I am a loyal SNL watcher, even though it is only normally funny about 10 minutes of of the entire 90 minute show. I was almost through with them after Tina Fey’s commentary & the red phone skit a week or two ago where SNL tried to make Obama look like an idiot that would panic in crisis. I only watched Saturday night to see Mariah. As soon as I saw this skit, I said “The blogs will be all over this Monday”, and I was right. This was so hilarious and so unexpected. I have a feeling that Tracey may have practiced another skit during the practice runs, and then came with the commentary above on Saturday night. The look on Amy Poehler’s face was priceless, so I have a fact that what he said was unexpected. This should go on his “Best Of” dvd, although he may be blacklisted from SNL after this. Genius Tracey :)

OH!! BY THE WAY:

Has any of you who detect such “bias” from the SNL staff done any research on the way these sketches are produced?? Here’s news for you: SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE’S POLITICAL WRITERS ARE MOSTLY BARACK SUPPORTERS. Don’t take my word for it. Seth Meyers and Lorne Michaels are the names you want. There’s no bias; they know their JOB is to write sketches on and around subjects that will yield the most entertaining product, and produce material that their actors are best equipped to handle.

::sigh:: We LOOK for racism so much…

Again outside of the chant of change..what is obama so great at? Showing up to vote when laws are being passed out of fear or retribution for it? Come on, i’m not saying that clinton is any better but I just really don’t get him…all i hear is speech after speech and it’s the same song. Hasn’t every male democratic candidate preached the same song whether black or white since reagan left office? I’m old enough to have seen a few elections and am aware of who is in office and can do my own research. His record…not so good….clinton….not so good. So i mean basically we still get the same ishhh if either wins. Neither will be in office long enough (yes even in the next 8 years if either repeats) to reverse the down slide of this country. This illusion of a quick savior is pure crap. At this point i’d take tracy morgan in office, he couldn’t possibly do worse than bush did and at least we’d get a few good laughs out of it. As a minority male in this country (yes we are not yet majority folks) I can see the appeal to vote for one of your own kind…but is that really the only basis some folks can find for a person. I mean i can argue that some of us in this room (yes some of those amongst us) voted for sharpton!! cause he’s one of us!! the same goes for Jesse who was a hell of a lot of steps higher in morality than sharpton.

sorry (and not voting or choosing a side when laws that affect us are being passed) i left that out in my first sentence

Monday, March 17, 2008 /

um i believe tina fey was using B*tch is the new black not directed towards black people but as in the fashion term like when fashion people say ” green is the new black” or junk like that referring to the popularity so she’s saying that being a b*tch is in. i still think tracey morgans monologue was genius lol

yeah i agree w/ #50. snl is not biased against obama. most of hollywood loves obama. they were just writing a skit. get over it and stop making everything a problem. besides, the media is hard on hilary. they always criticize her no matter what she does

and @sfsinger. how was tina’s skit a criticism of black ppl? just explain that to me b/c what i saw was a criticism of the media

I agree wit 26. and thanks for clearing the use of the word “black” #41.
I wish CL would post tina fey’s skit, so that we could compare, cuz i heard hers was much funnier.. so now i wanna see hers, because tracey’s was aiight but i didn’t REALLY LAUGH til his last comment like, blew me away..

Somebody PLEASE make a T-Shirt that says Black is the new President, because that is HISTORIC right there..

On another note.. has anyone here ever given thought to the idea of the word BLACK?

In the fashion world, its the universal staple that Everyone looks great in.
In art, its the combination of all the colors mixed (but teachers oddly enough always lie and define it as the “absence of color”, which REALLY is the true definition of the color white, right? )

And in the media, Black culture is the culture that everyone professes to want to be like. People who aren’t Black indulge in our music, food, st yle and way of life..
(Man, whites make so much money off of us..and we give so much back 2 them in return..)

But in real life, we as Black people, still aren’t seen as equals amongst all the other races.

Interesting huh?
