U.K. singer Leona Lewis made an appearance on Oprah on Monday and performed her single “Bleeding Love” live. She also had a little sit down with Oprah and spoke on how everything that is happening now is a dream come true. Make sure to peep it.
In related news, the U.S. release of her hit album Spirit will be in stores on April 8th and the album includes two new brand new songs from Akon and Madd Scientist and completely new versions and mixes of songs from the international release. It also features Ne-Yo, Max Martin, J.R. Rotem, Stargate, and more.

I like Leona…her voice is sort of angelic and i can definitely see why they are comparing her to the greats…comparing her to mimi is about right…she reminds me of a young mariah…her voice was pitchy at times, but the girl has raw talent, and she can go far. Her voice is a real voice, she don’t try to make it do weird things, it just glides, like mimi’s and whitney’s (or shall i say how whitney’s use to). I’m so glad when Oprah mentioned the greats, she left out one overrated chick cause in Oprah’s eyes, she aint no great i guess….LOL
she sounded like she was lip-synching to a prerecorded version of the song. not that she needs to but you know how artists who can sing still lip-synch from time to time. she seems cool but i never understood the hype. i think the brits are just looking for a powerhouse singer. brits are great at having bands (the beatles, rolling stones, radiohead, coldplay, i could go on). that’s an understatement. the brits probably have the best bands known to man BUT they don’t really have singers like whitney and mariah so this is their chance. i think that’s why they are so proud of her and simon keeps trying to push her down ppl’s throats. she’s a good singer but there’s nothing special about her. she has no Wow! factor imo.

I watched this and she has a superb voice. I must say I really don’t like that song though. I’ve seen some of her performances from when she was on the “X- Factor” and they were way better than her Oprah performance.
She has the potential to possibly be in company with Whitney, Mariah, Celine, etc, so I will give her some time, but right now no, later though cause she has the voice.

She has a very nice voice, but she is all hype. Her voice isn’t at Whitney and Mariah’s level. When they first started out their voices moved you and still do. Maybe their voices are not what they are used to but they can still blow. They keep comparing her to Whitney and Mariah as a marketing scheme. If they say it enough people will start believing it and they have. Christina Aguilera has got this girl shook and she still hasn’t reached Whitney and Mariah’s level. Hopefully I will like one of her songs as she releases more singles cause this one is a little boring. At least she seems nice and grounded so far.

This was not Leona’s best. She’s performed her very, very high notes live before, and a lot of times she did it well.

The reason why you guys can’t see what the hype is with Leona is because she’s not all in your face, she’s not a diva, she’s a sweet sweet unnassuming girl who loves to sing. Don’t take away from her voice.. that performance was not the greatest, but before you dismiss her do your research, check the youtube clips..
She may not be Mariah or Whitney crazy and divalicious and she may not be Beyonce and I love all those girls, but sometimes when all that is done, its just nice to see someone not trying to be “fabulous” and just “BE”, anyway you look at it you can tell that Leona has a heart of gold and wouldn’t try to do anyone over… That’s soo soo refreshing.. Leona Lewis is very talented. Her voice is very much refreshing like a breathe of fresh air. She is not a studio singer she is a real singer. Some people could not recognize real talent if it hit them in the face.
The comparison to Mariah and Whitney was dead on…. I hope she has much success I will be purchasing her album pronto on April 18th.
Are there better singers? Sure. Visit any Baptist church on any given Sunday and you’ll hear proof of that. But here’s the question people – and it’s an important one. Are those singers MARKETABLE??? It’s not called show BUSINESS for nothing. Leona’s got a great pop voice, she’s attractive, has stage presence (as much as I admire Mimi’s vocal chops, I’d rather watch paint dry than see her on stage preening like a demented peacock) and her label has ‘packaged’ (for lack of a better word) to be appealing across a wide audience. There’s nothing soulful about this chick. You Leona Stans are just trying to market her here to sway our opinion, I’ve seen her music video and heard her sing, reality is that she is completely boring. You can sugarcoat it however you want to but people can see right through it. If we don’t like it, well then we don’t like it. Who ever is doing the marketing, did it all wrong by first comparing her to Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey has her own label and music that’s currently out there and Whitney Houston is coming out with her album later this year. So no one needs a Leona.
