WORLD WATER DAY
Saturday, March 22, 2008

World Water Day is recognized each year on March 22, and this year is the International Year of Sanitation, which is intended to urge countries to stick to one of the targets set under the Millennium Development Goals — cutting in half, by 2015, the number of people who still lack toilet facilities.
World Water Day grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development to draw attention to the plight of the now more than 2 billion people who lack access to clean, safe drinking water.
World Water Day is a relatively unknown event but committed individuals are determined to make a strong, symbolic act to demonstrate support for action on the world water crisis.
FreePoverty.com allows everyone to contribute in donating water to people from all over the world who live in extreme poverty. By letting users locate places on the map, their accuracy will determine how many cups of water will be donated on their behalf.

lmfao at this posts lack of comments.Wow! Its amazing how many people come outta the woodworks when its a post about Beyonces lacefront.. but something as important as this gets bypassed. This says alot about the peolpe who comment here trying to sound educated and concerned about non isssues such as the B. Scott post and others…

I’m actually a volunteer for UNICEF and I just spent the last couple of weeks getting restaurants to participate in Tap Project which also goes to support World Water Day. I’m glad that you were able to post about this so more people we be aware of exactly what this is for and maybe try to get involved as well.

That game was fun. I saved 64 cups of water but I ain’t telling nobody my score! Dang, almost forgot where some spots were, hehe!
Either way, yeah I noticed the lack of comments on this post yet comments pour in by the hundreds for more popular posts. I think J Dakar is doing a wonderful thing by posting this information because I to was unaware of this issue. I think it’s cool you guys bring to the forefront issues America may not show as much.
GOOD JOB J….

Thanks for this psot, third world countires are in need of this and they need all the help from the people who have and can share. This is a little different from the usual celebrity bs, I also notice the lack of comments on important issues. Thanks Angel.

It amazes me that with all the technology we have in our world today that there are still 2billion people without clean water to drink. We need to wake up and start taking better care of our people and our enviroment instead of worrying about which politician slept with who, Diddy’s twins and stupid t-shirt, baseball players and their drug problems and all the other unimportant info that floods our meida waves each and everyday.
