Cassie is a beautiful girl, no question. But singing just isn’t her thing. Her songs all have tight production but her voice is mediocre, has zero range and no charisma. Now you don’t have to be a vocal powerhouse to be a singer, but you should atleast be able to carry a decent tune. It always sounds like she talks her way through her songs. The production always overshadows her mediocre voice and honestly her songs could be sung by pretty much anyone. I don’t see Cassie going far in the music business. This song isn’t working for me and i’m one of the few who actually likes some of Cassie’s music, enough to download a FEW songs. “Official Girl” is horrible in comparison to “Me and U”, and “Long Way 2 Go”. This has nothing to do with it not being Brandy or Beyonce. This song isn’t as good as any of her songs on her first album. She had a lot of good songs on that album, beat wise, and the lyrics weren’t half bad. Danja gave her a throw away track. Compare the songs he produced for Britney’s last album next to this song and you will see that this track doesn’t stand up to any of them beat wise. They probably overpaid for this track cause it was Danja. Sorry but this song is kinda boring. She needs another track as strong as Me & U, now that was a hot track. I think people are hard on her because she sucked so bad performing live and it didn’t seem like she cared enough to make it a hot performance. If you lip synch at least have a great dance number.
