Mariah said she will probably release a ballad as her next single. She recognizes that a large portion of her audience likes her for the “old Mariah”…the ballad singer. But she also needs to keep up with the times. Love it or not. Mariah’s next single will also reach #1 and she will continue to break records. You have to give it to her for originality, like with Touch My Body (you tube, etc).

And about her performances…Touch My Body is not a very easy song to sing to if you think about it, because it’s so fast.

And yes, anyone can get a #1 single…but not anyone can get 18 obviously.

But then again…I am a DIE HARD Mariah fan so I may be bias

I heard the entire CD. Personally its not that Mariah shouldn’t cater to young people or whatever and ain’t nothing wrong with going to the club at any age if you enjoy it. I think that after Emancipation of Mimi, people expected Mariah to evolve, not stay in the same place or review her last ten CD’s, which is what happens here. However, there is a KILLER ballad on the CD, probably one of the best she’s ever done.

But personally, that’s the only song I liked. The rest…we’e heard it all before. I think folks are just looking for people to evolve. If ALL you can write or think or sing about at 37 is the CLUB and hanging out, and that is your life…then that’s just sad, I don’t care if you are rich and famous. Seems like a pretty empty life to me.

This so is just as weak as “touch my body”. I’m not looking forward to the album

There are soo many haterz in CL that I don’t think the posters have an appreciation for talent.

Mariah is one of the most talented singers to have walked the earth and she has reached beyond legendery status. We’ve heard a million of her ballads, so I don’t expect her to release more of them because if I want to hear a Mariah ballad I can listen to one of her older albums. Part of evolving as an artist involves doing things that are unexpected/strange and thats what Mimi is doing, belting out more songs would be way too predictable and that isnt what Mariah wants. Some days I do thing why doesnt she cover up? or belt the song out, but if she did do as expected that would be boring.

I do intend to buy the album, but as a die hard fan she bettter not disappoint with this album! Either way I will still admire her artistry.

How is Mariah Carey the only “real” singer we have? I am in love with Chrisette Michelle. She has a damn good voice, and her album is great. There are plenty of singers out there that have a better voice than mariah carey, but they will never get the props or air time they deserve. I’ve seen video after video of mariah carey singing live, and she sounds horrible in each one. Why can’t people just admit that she doesn’t have the voice she used to anymore and move on? I will be honest and say that I like her album, but I won’t front and say she is still the best. She isn’t. Something is wrong with her voice to where she can’t even sing properly. It always sounds off live and it also sounds like she’s out of breath and struggling to hit high notes. Mariah Carey has talent for sure, but I’m not going to waste my time on just one artist because she’s a so called legend. There are so many other singers that people choose to ignore because they aren’t mariah or whitney. Her singles are pretty cool and I like them, but I just can never watch her sing anything live anymore. It hurts my ears.
